Just a general comment: Hostility between fans is why the Mass Effect character discussion board was shut down. The mods didn't shut down a few threads but the entire character discussion forum.

There are two possible mages who could also be in the party:  Dorian, or Cole.  Dorian is a more mage-ly mage than Cole.

 

In any case, we were discussing Solas, right?

 

I think he was never a part of the Circle, but he's not Dalish either unless he got kicked out--which, if he did, might have something to do with using blood magic.

 

As for Solas being Mr. McTightPants, I'm guessing that's got something to do with his being poor and an apostate.  Again, if you look closely at the screenshot, his tight pants are also tattered.  So he's probably wearing worn-out trousers that are too small for him in the first place, either because he's been on his own for so long that he's still wearing what he wore five years ago, or because he's stolen a pair that didn't quite fit.  Note that they also stop just below his knee.  He could have torn the rest off, or that could just be as long as the pants actually are.

 

His gear looks like to me he's been out in the wilds/forests for a while.  Perhaps even if he's not Dalish himself, he was looking for the Dalish?  I don't think he left the Circle, but if he did, looking for the Dalish seems like it would be a reasonable thing for an elven mage to do.

Hmm, I wonder how old Solas is supposed to be. We haven't gotten a good look at his face but from what I can see, he doesn't look all that old.

He seemed older in the concept art with the female dwarf but then looked pretty young in the concept art with Inquisitor stabbity stabbing the table and pretty young again in the picture with all of his considered outfits and in screen shots. At this point I really just don't know what to think. Damn it, Bioware!

But Im sorry, the baldness IS truly not sexy. It kind of puts me off. I still have a burning hope for some hair on that eyeball-looking head of his. That would make him look GORGEOUS... Aaah..please. Thats my only hope right now.

Ugh, he's so awesome it hurts.  If he's not an LI I'm going to have to fanfic him so hard.

 

Maybe the War Room happens early in the game, then he shaves his head!

Not a huge fan of his pointy chin, but other than that, he is pretty cute.  He wouldn't be hurt by having some hair, but...

 

If he's a city elf, or was with a group of ne'er-do-wells, he might keep his head shaved for hygiene purposes. As I pointed out, his clothing is pretty tattered.  If you're in a state where you're wearing whatever shabby clothing you can get, fleas and lice are a possibility too.  Gross, but true.
