I'm pretty sure, that I will throw all my prejudices about looks out of the window, once i would meet some of these wonderfully written characters. And if Warden, IB, Solas or Vivienne would pull at my strings, i will love them as a person, not because they have or doesn't have a beard, horns, bald or wear fancy hats. Anything of this won't matter to me then.

 

That's why i don't put any negative comments or drool over what they look like.

 

Eh, I might say what I do or don't find attractive but in the end that means nothing and I know it so I don't feel like it matters. Even if I don't mesh with a character's appearance and I say so, I never say that I don't think I'll like them because this is a Bioware game and I can find a way to like every single one of the characters. They're always well written and I know that.

 

But at the moment, when we only have appearance to go off, there's nothing wrong with having some conversations about it!

If it's a love interest, then I want to be able to find their character physically attractive. I'm imaginary dating them, so it's kind of an important part of the experience for me. It's not like I hate all the characters that I don't think are attractive, though. I just don't invest in their romance. 

 

It's not just appearance, though. I thought Fenris was attractive enough, but I didn't mesh well with his personality, so I didn't find him attractive. It's not JUST appearance, it's appearance and personality. I think that's how most people look at romantic relationships.

I wish! I'm thinking we won't see a higher quality one considering it was a small screenshot that someone seems to have blown up relatively well. Hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer for closeups!

@Ispan, Rynj - i was more targeting posts like this. From my point of view, a dismissive tone while you know close to nothing about the character, is kinda obnoxious. But hey, as i pointed out, it was my viewpoint.

No doubt he'll be an awesome character. The Writer's Pit team never fails on that account.

Not obnoxious necessarily, just a different opinion. For me, half the reason I choose my ideal game romances is their personality (even if they're not romanceable). I may not like beards but if Grey Warden hit all the right buttons personality-wise, I'd be on him like white on rice! Personality beats appearance every time in my opinion but I understand that others can feel differently and that's a valid opinion too. Not wanting to romance a character doesn't mean you don't LIKE the character.

 

As for Solas, his defining food being candied hot peppers already makes him sound like he's my kind of character, appearance be damned!

It occurred to me that I might like Solas' long underwear/striped pajamas look so much because I'd live in PJs 24/7 if I could.  That's my kind of man!  Who cares if you're wearing your PJs when you're kicking butt and saving the world?

 

@renfrees  Ok I also wanted to express my weird attraction to every single companion so far (Isabela might say I'm casting a wide net ).  I feel like the writers are going to do such a good job that I could happily romance any of them!

A person that has a great personality that I'm not physically attracted to is what I would consider a FRIEND. 

 

But I'm not arguing he's objectively ugly and I don't have a problem with other people being into him for whatever reason, so I don't understand what the issue is.

Oh, no thanks. We already had an elf like that named Fenris and to me his voice seemed inappropriately deep for such a slender build. Fenris was the Rick Astley of elves. I'd like to see Solas with a rich baritone, not bass, and affecting something of a raspy, hissing tonal quality.

I think Fenris's voice fit his angstiness, though. Solas having Gideon Emery's voice would probably be more of a Rick Astley (best analogy ever, by the way).

Didn't it occur to you, that Fenris' voice might've been thwarted because of hours of screaming in pain? Sigh, i don't want to argue over opinions, just think that all things has reasons behind them.

 

You give Voice department too little credit. They don't just stumble on the first VA and go - hey, let's use this guy/girl. If they chose one, its because the ultimate creators of the character seemed it fit with his/her persona. They know all the background after all.

I, myself, find a man with a shaved head sexy.  Solas' head, I believe, is too rounded and would benefit from a bit more squareness, à la Wentworth Miller.    If I recall correctly, one of the devs (Mr. Gaider, please correct me if I'm wrong...) had mentioned early character designs of Fenris were sans hair.  I prefer Matt Rhodes' more substantial take on elves; most people don't want to make love to a twelve-year-old.

That sounds nice (Last second add on: the more clips I listen to of baritone voices, the more I like it for Solas.)

 

I personally could see Solas with a voice like Leonardo Dicaprio (his normal speaking voice, not movie roles).  Not sure why I'm equating Solas with a semi-nasally voice (lol, hairless AND has a nasally voice? internet backlash!) but I keep coming back to it.  It wouldn't diminish his attractiveness to me in any way.

It's not that I think that their choice was not well considered. I simply do not agree with it, as is my prerogative.

Well Solas looks alright in the last screenshot I saw of him.

It seems he looks less like a gremlins up close .

I'm waiting to know more about him ...for now I'm not too fond of the ladies.

I hope Sera is cool.I really do .I don't wanna loathe every women in my party.

 

Solas might be some kind of scholar ,since he's a fade expert...and if he's a scholar...oh yeah, I hope he's a LI.

Anyway , all the dudes so far are good looking to me .They all have a different style...

I'm more worried about their little "quirks", such as :like to bath in blood (Iron Bull ) Long lost love (Bianca 4ever) have posters of Anders on his bedroom walls (Apostate Solas) Mid life crisis (Mr Beardo leaving the wardens...)

I want a fun LI .
