Leliana and Aribeth both had serious past loves.

Dawn Star, Liara, Tali, Merrill, and wing-elf girl all came off as virginal.

I got stuck (and bored) waiting for a friend, so I downloaded some sketch app and tried to draw Solas. I don't draw often and don't have a stylus so consider this a modern finger painting.

I just hope he looks a bit older in game than on the 3D clothing renders.

And Kaidan.  And Thane.  And to some degree Jacob, who had been in a relationship with Miranda and "he wasn't good enough for her," but he is good enough for Shepard...? And was still hung up on Miranda.

 

So yes, it's still an issue.  If it has been done with female characters, I apologize.  But it's happened far too often in male characters, and really, enough is enough.

In Kaidan's case, he wasn't hung up on Rhana, she was just part of the reason Kaidan went all HIYAH! at BAaT. He even says he was over it.

 

So not Kaidan. He has a girl in his past but she was by no means a huge love that was overshadowing things. Jacob too was more matter of fact about it. Yeah, she is an ex, no big whoop. It didn't work out, we moved on.

 

Thane however... yeah... huge red flag for that.

lol Loghain gained approval when you brought him maps, but you have to take it one step further and actually stab the maps to make Solas happy

The only other option in the whole Mass Effect series for male/male relationships was Cortez and he definitely didn't talk about his dead husband less than Kaidan talked about the girl, I have to say.

Yeah, that was Cortez's whole arc. Rhana was a single conversation. It was something I liked about the Kaidan romance, he didn't want or need fixing.

 

Anyways. I think it says something about the writer's or what they think that their intended audience wants when most of the female LI's are either virginal (or fawning, embarassed virginal types) or wanton-esque sex pots.

Kaidan just had a girl he crushed on in school, and then the girl died (right?). Just interesting backstory for him, more than anything.

 

On that same note, Isabela did have a husband, buuuuut I guess having your husband assassinated doesn't really count in the same way...

 

No, the girl didn't die, but Kaidan killed a dude and the girl didn't want anything to do with him anymore.  And Kaidan still seemed pretty hung up on her, too.

You know, in the "sweet and spicy" category Solas is apparently in, I'd be afraid to ask him about whether he shaved his head or was just hairless.  The answer might end up being a bit too spicy.

 The primary reason I replay games several times is because I crush on someone, and it has to be a LI. Like I played DA2 five times because I obsessed with Fenris and ME2 because of Thane. I can still LOVE a game without the obsession (like Red Dead Redemtion, LAst of Us etc), but I don´t really bother replaying the game. I am wierd, huh?

 

I am much more superficial with fictional characters than in real life. (so don´t worry you bald good-looking fellas out there )  In my real life there is loads of shaved guys in my school because its very physical and its pratical for shaved head, and a lot of them look good. But in videogames... it takes a hellofa personality for me to "obsess" with someone I don´t find attractive.

 

But I didn´t care about Thane my first playthrough. I tried romancing him "for fun" on my second playthrough, and I fell in love with his character. He became attractive. So maybe there still is a chance.

 

Sorry for the ranting. I am dead tired and prob should go to bed.

I don't play games for romance.  Honestly, I'd still be looking forward to Inquisition even if I didn't like any of the potential male LIs.  I'm hoping Cole is in the game even though he won't be romanceable (or if he is, I won't pursue him because, well, mind of a child, ew).  I enjoy playing the romances, don't get me wrong, but if I replay a game it's because I enjoyed the game itself, not because I got to cozy up with a fictional hunk (or not-so-hunky guy, i.e. Garrus).

 

That said, everyone has their preferences, so I don't think you're weird for wanting to replay the romances, any more than I think it's strange for a person to reread a romance novel.

Same here I played Mass effect over 10 times cause I had a crush on Thane...and Garrus lol...but the game also has to be good plot wise and combat for me(if it's a RPG game) to play also. I already have a bit of a crush on Solas sooo...yeah I don't care if he has a bald head LOOK AT THAT CUTE FACE!!!! lol

 

I  am attracted by their personalities also so I'm hoping for some new info on Solas soon.

I feel like it's going to be hard for me to choose my "canon" playthrough in DAI. For Origins and DA2 it was relatively easy but I feel like a lot of choices might hold me up while I play Inquisition, including LI. I love Solas but...what if Varric IS a choice. I'm not expecting him to be but what if? What iiiiif?

 

Also I haven't decided between female Dalish and female Qunari but I know I'm playing a mage either way (I always play the class/race that seems like it has the most relevance or excitement in the plot). What are you guys planning to do?

I write out possible storyboards and make comparisons between what i have done in prior games, prior world states and see what would best interact with their worlds.

 

Ultimately most of them end up being Human Warriors, Although back in DAO i had a world state that used every race at least once, but a majority of those have been abandoned as of now.

I will probably do one human mage and one Dalish rogue, at least.

 

Why is everyone pretty sure Solas is going to be a love interest? Is it just because he seems the most likely from what we've seen, or was it hinted somewhere?

 

I've thought for a while he probably would be, though. I think the male love interests will probably be Solas and someone that's unannounced. Probably Dorian, or Cullen if he ends up being a companion.
