I feel like it's going to be hard for me to choose my "canon" playthrough in DAI. For Origins and DA2 it was relatively easy but I feel like a lot of choices might hold me up while I play Inquisition, including LI. I love Solas but...what if Varric IS a choice. I'm not expecting him to be but what if? What iiiiif?

 

Also I haven't decided between female Dalish and female Qunari but I know I'm playing a mage either way (I always play the class/race that seems like it has the most relevance or excitement in the plot). What are you guys planning to do?

 

I was just thinking this the other day what if they do have Varric as an LI but he only goes for the female dwarves? They probably wouldn't do that but that had me thinking..... Oh and the same for Iron Bull

Mostly because there seems to be a tradition of elves being LIs and from the pickins so far, he seems a likely candidate. He appears to have been aged down from the initial concept art and the other confirmed male characters seem less likely. As cool as a Qunari romance would be, I would be surprised if IB was a love interest and hot daddy Warden doesn't seem the type. Varric is a hopeful but I don't think many of us really think he'll be romanceable.

 

Of course, we could be completely wrong but speculation is speculation.

He is the first officially revealed male other than Varric. Iron Bull is a Qunari so people aren't expecting much there either.

 

Out of the ones revealed thus far I'd say Solas is the most likely male LI.

Sorry for my bad english it is not my native language but I want to say that I will create a 3D hair model personaly for Solas if he is LI and, I will need some help from programmers to add model to game.

 

But to be honest I don't think he will be LI. I think Bioware will hide who are LI till the release, just to give us some room for discussions, speculatings and other things that good for game advertisment. Also Let's think about previous romance options in Dragon age games. What we had before? We know that most people like different types of people, Some girls really likes good and simple guys with some muscules and with short hairstyle. Just look at the Alistar, he is just what most of girls like, then Anders, I think Alistar and anders wery similar, exept hairstyle, both humans, both with surprises, they even have simple noses and both like animals, dogs and cats. I nearly sure Cullen will be our third simple good guy in dragon age game, he is human, he is good guy, his face and hair colour remind me of Alistar, just need to play a game to learn about Cullen favorite animal. 

 

Some girls don't like simple good boys and prefer "anime" boys that looks a bit femine, tall and thin, with hard past, so girls can pity and hug such boys. So there we have Zevran, hard past? Yes, long hair? Sure. Can be mistaken with girl? Oh yes, just remember his lips and big eyes. Then Fenris, well he was even more femmine and thin then Zevran, only his brutal sexy voice tells us about his gender.

 

Can Solas stand near Zevran and Fenris? I'm not sure right now about that. He missed few things to be awesome as previous two elven LI. Personaly I was hoping to see someone like Sand from NwN2 but there is a lot of time till release, I think we will know much more later.

I think bald is better than white anime hair and plain clothes are better than crazy jrpg clothes, but that's just personal preference. (and I do love Fenris for his personality even though I thought I would hate him before DA2 came out)

heheh, sand and vivivenne would get along well now that I think about it. but as for solas, he strikes me more of the..following the inquisitor to see to it that the veils are closed. since he's going to be a renegade type character possibly good and bad mixed, he won't mind the inquisitor doing bad things. as long as the veils are closed he could care less

There IS something to be said about a character not looking interesting because they don't stand out. But quite honestly, Alistair didn't look like anything special either and look how many people loved him. Anybody who knew nothing about Dragon Age would have looked at him and just thought he was some generic dude. There was nothing particularly exciting or stand out about his design either.

Yeah, Alistair looked generic but now I automatically identify an Alistair cosplay if they've got blonde hair and splintmail.  Solas' semi-generic appearance might actually make him more unique when compared to our other companions.  If I have 9 badass friends from different backgrounds,  a couple might dress fabulously, perhaps one would be goth, and the majority could be semi-stylish, there's bound to be that one wearing pajamas to the super market.  Pj Party Solas' underwhelming attire sets him apart from our more stylish companions

To be fair, he at one time had a bad ass mohawk ponytail and a sweet one-shouldered feather cape.

While I'll disagree on the white hair (I freaking love his hair, how it falls over his big puppy eyes... d'awww), I agree that his outfit was meh; once I learned how to mod xbox saves I put him in Athenril's outfit. He looks awesome in it!
