I want Solas' character kit picture. So far, in my opinion, those have been the best renditions so far of each companion. I absolutely loved Vivienne's picture.

Based on his expressions in some of the concept art, I think he'll have a "sweet" gentle personality, but also be something of a "spicy" hot-blooded type when it comes to his agenda (whatever it is).  I could see him being all kindness and sunshine, then he turns around and crushes his enemies ruthlessly.

 

But I admit I have a bias for that kind of character that's likely coloring my perceptions.

Good question...that's one of the things that has got me wanting to know more about him. Is he sweet but has a fiery side to himself, or a snarky side...so many questions and not enough answers.

 

And another thing I've been thinking on..I think it was you or someone else mentioned maybe the reason why he is wearing torn up battered clothes is because he is alone or have been kicked out from the Dalish which of course he's an apostate soooo...that wouldn't surprise me if that turns out to be true. Still there are many things we don't know but will eventually...come on Bioware.

To add something to this lovely conversation, if you look on his wikia page, it mentions that his name means "Pride" or "Stand Tall" in Elvish. The most interesting part though, is where they mention the Tevinter City called Solas that's near Nevarra...a hint that he's a tevinter mage perhaps? I'm hoping so anyway. They also say that he's an expert on the fade, which is really interesting...I'm dying to see how that comes into play.

I actually got an impression from the concept art and his two smiles in them that he's kind of cocky, maybe a bit smarmy. I'm hoping he's going to be a snarker, because it would fit the tradition of snarky apostates we had so far in the Dragon Age games, a trend I heavily approve of 

 

Anyway sweet and nice but hot-blooded and kind of fiery is the meaning that makes the most sense, imo, for what his food represents- it's what I've been thinking too. And since he's clearly Vivienne's opposite I strongly believe that he's also going to be sort of idealistic and good-doing, which would fit the 'sweet' part. Maybe he's a hot-blooded, passionate snarker externally but more of a sweet, gentle sort of guy internally? Because that would be cute, I'm just saying, and Solas, from his design is also cute so it would work.

Yeah, I could see someone of a kinder nature becoming very upset with someone as seemingly self-serving as Vivienne, especially where mage politics are concerned.

I guess I'm just paranoid, personality is the biggest thing for me in romances. Character doesn't have a personality I like? No amount of sexiness can save them from the Virtual Friendzone.

A candied pepper still looks like a pepper and some are hard or crunchy.  Spicy foods make me cry so I wouldn't go near a pepper like that if I didn't already know it was candied and sweet.

 

So my latest speculation is that Solas' appearance and outward attitude has a hot, possibly off-putting vibe (looking smug/smarmy in the art!) that might cause people to avoid getting close to him the way a mammal avoids eating a pepper (fun fact: birds eat them because they don't have capsaicin receptors).  Then once you get past the hardened, survivalist apostate exterior you get the unexpected sweetness and get to keep most of the heat.

It sounds like it's sort of the 'Melting the Ice Queen' trope.

Edit: When they first announced the food I thought Cassandra would be the candy because she seems to have a hot temper, but also a sweet side. Perhaps it's the same for Solas.

lol Loghain gained approval when you brought him maps, but you have to take it one step further and actually stab the maps to make Solas happy

Oh, that's not all. Stabbing the map is a massive turn on for Solas, it's the only way to progress the romance subplot with him.

But at the same time you make Cassandra very upset, because stabbing maps was always her thing. If you let her stab the maps, Solas will develop a crush on her.

Me either, but I THINK players were told as each companion was released whether or not they were a LI.

If I remember correctly, we learned who the romances are from a leaked script. Later Bioware confirmed who they were on Valentine's Day.
