I believe Solas' chances of being a LI are pretty high. So far, there hasn't been an elf companion (non-DLC) who hasn't been an LI. I think the unconventional nature of the relationship makes it appealing to the Devs. And they made an aspect of his personality sweet like candy, so he has that going for him as well. Now as for the other male LI, I am unable to determine who that would be. I'm pretty confident that it won't be Varric. Feathers would be neat, but I'm not confident about that.

That's part of the reason why I have a feeling that Solas might not be a LI.  BioWare could pick now to break tradition.

I'm hoping they continue to offer a male elf LI; I just started to feel the fever at the end of DA2 A elf/human combo seems pretty well-rounded (whoever they happen to be).

 

Personal gut reactions to the romantic potential of the possible companions...

- Varric doesn't seem like an option to me

- Iron Bull is pretty fling-alicious

- Dramatic Hands = sexy, wild romance

- Grey Warden could happen if the other option is thinner and less burly

- Cullen feels like less and less of a possibility

- and Solas: 10/10 would... romance

Interestingly, in Origins, guys didn't get a straight female elf to romance, so that may be the case this time around, just gender-flipped. *realizes this may not be the smartest thing to say in a Solas thread*

It's pretty funny that Solas' thread has become the hub of romance discussion considering it's history. I hope they throw in some non-follower romances though so they can lump Cullen in there and leave more slots open for female party members and dudes with fantastic shoulders as romances.

 

I also hope Cullen fans have bad eyesight.

Well I don't think Cullen has much chance of being a companion at this point, so that is why I think Solas' chances are really high. Because I think it likely that mustache guy will be revealed as a companion, and later, a LI. And then Cole will also probably be confirmed (OR possibly an unheard of female character).

 

So I think our LIs will be Solas and mustache guy. I mean, I think those are the most likely choices. And maybe that is what others are thinking, too.

 

I actually think Cullen's got better chances at being a companion than Cole does.  We haven't seen anything regarding Cole at all and the devs have no issue with the Cullen fans.

 

Not being a particular fan or detractor of Cullen, though, I think I'd prefer to romance Solas (if I like his personality) just because Solas is a new character.  I kind of feel like Cullen's going to be too, well, "Alistair."  Which is not bad; when DA:O came out I adored Alistair.  But replaying DA:O now, I don't know why I liked him so well.  I admit, I kinda dislike him, now, and I'm not 100% sure why.

 

So yeah.  If Cullen is in, Solas may very well be out, in terms of romance.  But if we have Cole, we know he's not going to be a romance option, so Solas's chances go up.

 

A lot of people think qunari are sexy.  So Iron Bull is a possibility.  However, some people now think he may not be a companion after all.

 

... I really have no idea, but somehow I suspect the devs are showing off Solas in tight trousers for a reason.

I personally like Cullen as a character just fine. As a romance, though, he doesn't do it for me. Less because he may be a repeat of Alistair (whom I adore), more because of all his fangirls' hype. Though if Bioware makes him an NPC romance and leaves me with my two companion LIs, I'll be happy.

 

That's my biggest problem about a Cullen romance, I guess. If he's a companion LI I'll automatically have to choose the other guy, and if the other guy doesn't do it for me...

There's the link where he talked about Cole. He said Cole was mentally like a child, so it seems unlikely. It's possible they would change him to a more adult role, since he realized he wasn't Cole, the boy that died, in the end of Asunder. It doesn't really seem like Gaider is totally comfortable with that right now, though? I'd still love to see him as a companion, either way. I'm sure they wouldn't totally erase that progress he made, even if they're not taking it this far. He tells Lambert that he's not helpless anymore at the end and we know Lambert is "missing" now, so I'd say there's plenty of evidence that he's a capable being as a companion, in his own way.

thank you glad to see the info- am super excited about Solas (as I said elsewhere, I heart bald guys)- but I really loved reading about Cole in Asunder, so I'm excited about him possibly being a comp.  I've had to stay away from the Cole character thread though, too much LI spec (at least in the beginning, not sure what its evolved into), which skeeves me out a little

Ehm...Solas!Solas seems to be a rather intriguing character so far...There are some who speculate that he originates from Tevinter which I kinda doubt for some reason although it is highly possible,I also like the theory I read a couple of pages before about him being dalish forced into a circle.I am very intrigued by him,his potential role in the plot role and his knowledge on the Fade.

I really want Solas to be Dalish, I refuse to let go of that pipe dream until there's confirmation he isn't.

 

I can't say I like him/dislike him because I don't know nearly enough that I need to in order to place judgement, but I'm optimistic. I do hope he can continue wearing pants instead of ugly mage robes, though.
