I think Merril looked good.

Yeah, she was cool enough. Any of the main characters got special attention (Marethari is neat looking, Merrill, Fenris, etc). It's just that the general look doesn't work as a template for most elves. Like it needs a handcrafted sculpting to look as good as Fen or Merrill maybe? Look at Fenarel or Sketch. They look terrible, compared to their former selves. While the average elf is like Tomwise, Orana, or something equally hideous.

Oh there is absolutely zero evidence. Just more pure speculation haha!

This thread thrives on it, that much is true.

I was actually hoping there might be uses for his Fade expertise outside of the obvious problem of the tears. People have mentioned Cole, but if Rhys is in the game (or you can communicate with him in some way), having him speak with Solas might help Rhys continue the tranquility modification research mentioned in Asunder. I don't think the problem would be solved, but it would be good to be able to use companion's skills to lay groundwork for future events.

Whee 100 pages :)

Also, in case no one responded about Feynriel, I think he'd be considered human and not elf?  Also, his ears didn't look like normal elf ears if I remember correctly.

Half-elves are always physically human.  Elf genetics are weird that way.

Over 100 pages and now over 2000 replies! We're on a roll!

2000 replies that could very likely be completely off the mark. 2000 replies that we might look back at and laugh at after we play the game.

But 2000 replies all the same!  :P

I don't think the "halfbreeds" are really considered human or elf. I don't really get the impression most people on either side accept them. Marethari was willing to take in Feynriel, though, so at least some elves must accept them. They supposedly look more human, though.

I was really disappointed in Merrill when she acted bratty about Marethari helping Feynriel. That really put her in a negative light that I wouldn't have seen her in, otherwise. I didn't agree with a lot of things Marethari did, but Merrill was just being petty and childish in that situation.

I'd say that this applies for the majority of DAI threads at the moment.

Speaking of Cole, I wonder if, between the three of them, they could actually be the tranquil cure. They need a spirit to do it, right? Anders accidentally cured Karl temporarily, because of Justice. I wonder if they could use Cole to cure tranquil, if he is a spirit/demon.

I read on the wiki that someone figured out how to cure tranquility.  It does involve implanting someone with a fade spirit, Wynne-style.

So if Solas was romanceable, would you choose him as your Inquisitor's LI? What kind of Inquisitor would you use to romance him?

Yeah, the character Pharamond from Asunder. He was possessed by a demon from the fade. The process seemed to almost work just from Justice's indirect contact with Karl, also, so it seems like any type of spirit may work. I just wonder if Cole could be.. instructed I guess? on how to do it if someone like Solas that might have a better understanding was available to advise.

Well I can't really say yet, mainly because we don't know much about his personality and background...But yes I can definitely see one of my inquistors romancing him if he's indeed a LI,which one though remains to be seen.

If I made another female elf, I might try that. I never romanced anyone on my Dalish Warden. She could've used a Solas then.

For some reason I cant stop picturing him with my female Qunari mage Inquisitor. Purely based on looks at the moment, but they would look so hilarious and yet cute together!

I've said before that I'm not super into Solas as a LI. Out of the likely companions (mostly just counting Iron Bull & grey warden, here), he's the most likely that I'd try. It depends on his personality, though. I thought Fenris was the most attractive male from DA2 before playing, but after playing I wasn't fond of his personality and I always went with Anders. I'll have to see who the other male LI will be, though.

So, if you compare your Dalish Warden with Merril and Fenris, i don't think you'd have to worry about her appearance. It just general NPCs that were looking ugly due to the lack of polygons and face features.

Probably elfQuisitor, i always tend to start with elves, if they're available.

Probably. Although I think DAO's elves on average looked better. And the DAI elves seem to follow them somewhat - but improve on it actually. Rather than try to improve on the DA2 look.

I liked the DA2 elves.  Marethari looked deer(halla?)-like, which I thought was very cool for the Dalish.

Marethari was gorgeous, imho. Such delicate features.

I thought she looked like a wise Indian woman (Indian as in country, not Native American).

I don't know why. Even despite the Irish accent. lol. She comes off like a Yogi or Guru.

The high, wide-set eyes made her look more animal-like, which I thought was nifty on wandering folk who live in close contact with nature.  Before I knew that elf genes are stupid recessive,  figured the more humanlike ones, like Tallis, the girl's father in Magistrate's orders, and such, had more human in their lineage.

Funny that you mention Halla. I kind of modeled my Warden after them. And used the Halla goddess' blood writing. I think Marethari uses the Hearthkeeper.

I hated the DA2 elves proportions. I hated their giant eyes and lightbulb shaped heads but mostly I hated how their shoulders were as narrow as a 3 year old child's and their bodies were so thin they looked like they couldn't possibly contain the correct bones and organs. I'm glad that's in the past.

I didn't realize the CC ones had specific meanings.  What's the one that covers the whole side of the face?  My Dalish uses that one.
