I didn't realize the CC ones had specific meanings.  What's the one that covers the whole side of the face?  My Dalish uses that one.

Elgar'nan, I believe. God of Vengeance. A duality god.. the two sides representing fertilty and the other dried earth, when the sun blasted it (so Elgar'nan took vengeance on the Sun).

lol.. long answer. Sorry.

Neat.  I picked it because it's dramatic and easy to see.

One of my Dalish ladies, though, lost her love when she spared Loghain at the landsmeet.  When Alistair dumped her, she became immersed in the wardens and the protection of Thedas.

So I guess it's fitting?

Speaking of Cole, I wonder if, between the three of them, they could actually be the tranquil cure. They need a spirit to do it, right? Anders accidentally cured Karl temporarily, because of Justice. I wonder if they could use Cole to cure tranquil, if he is a spirit/demon.

My understanding is that any spirit touching a tranquil from the Fade will reestablish a mage's connection to the Fade. So I guess it would depend on whether or not Cole was in the Fade. But with the tears it may not matter.

But I was thinking more about Solas and Rhys finding a work around for tranquility that didn't involve removing a mage's emotions when making them tranquil. I wonder if Solas might know something that would explain why severing the connection does this.

To reverse Tranquility you'd have to have spirit/demon to inhabit the Tranquil, a touch would be just a temporary respite.

:o Thought: when the veil tears, mages quit being tranquil. :o

Funny that you mention Halla. I kind of modeled my Warden after them. And used the Halla goddess' blood writing. I think Marethari uses the Hearthkeeper.

Hmm,I always thought that the one that both Marethari(DA2) and Zathrian used, represent Dirthamen the "keeper of secrets",it seemed fitting.

That's right, it changes in DA2. She has the Hearthkeeper in DAO. Tamlen also has the Keeper of Secrets, funnily.

I'm pretty sure Pharamond says he was cured at the touch and the possession came after.

I've thought that too. It seems possible if just being near to a Fade entity brought Karl back.

Anyway, I don't want to take the thread off topic. But I just think it would be cool if Solas could lay some groundwork. I like the idea of there being someone who actually researches things. I also hope we get lots of exploratory dialogue where we get to pick his brain on what he knows.

Well he was definitely the curious type.I recall him saying something about sneaking in the keeper's Aravel and browsing through her books or something,I don't remember the exact sentence though.

Yeah, he mentions it when talking about the statue of Falon'Din. Which is Merrill's marking (Friend of the Dead).

Maybe if I can remember which DA2 file had the Dalish lady that inquisitor will romance Solas and put things full circle.

Then Karl would have been cured as well, no?

From wiki:

Thus in order for a demon or spirit to touch the mind of a Tranquil, it must be lured out of the Fade and summoned into the mortal realm, then lured into possessing the Tranquil.

Perhaps Karl didn't get enough, because Vengence was already preoccupied with another host?

Or apparently the simple touch and touch of the mind is not the same things. I'd say the latter has more of a figurative meaning.

Of course, lore states that tranquil can be possessed, they just generally don't because, lacking magic, they're no better than a dead body, which at least don't tend to fight back.

So...clearly it's been attempted before.  Why isn't it more widely known?

I'm sure if it happened in the past, the Templars killed the mage and covered it up. But this is a line of thought for another thread. We best not derail this one.

I still kinda want Solas to be our magister.  There's some who want that to wait until we get a proper Tevinter tour, but I can see the merit in having multiple viewpoints.

Anti-circle: Anders/Solas

Pro-circle: Vivienne

Magister: Solas/hypothetical mage

Templar: Cullen/hypothetical templar.

This is an excellent game to have one of each in the party or camp at once.

Can elves even be magisters? I know they work for them, but full fledged magister? I thought they were like the equivalent of Roman Senators.

Magisters are the only nobility in the Imperium, but they aren't exclusively Senators as a members of Magisterium.

Edit: as to answer your question, i can't see why not. Apparently Laetans can be made a magisters.

Actually false. Lord Devon is one such exception. He is a part of the nobility and has no magic to speak of.

Well, every rule has an exception, and it is stated that he is the only one, who does not.

I think it sort of depends on whether or not Solas is the type of person that would have an interest in seeing something like that happen. My first impression of him is that he might be the party's "mage freedom" representative, so I'm a little shaky on whether or not I think he'd be on board with anything that could potentially help the templars. It depends on what his position is on the issue, though. I might just be misreading his position.
