OK so, after some consorting with... Music, I am up for writing a Solas/FH v Andruil short fic based on the FH and the tree para in Masked Empire... And, ummmmmm, yeah, young Solas won't be entirely blameless... Anyone else prepared to write their version?

It could be FUN if several of us did it at the same time...

Do speak out...

Having a nice sounding voice doesn't mean one knows how to sing properly. I imagine Solas heard Cullen at the Dawn Will Come scene and thought "Nope. I'll be very quiet. And very silent."

Incidentally, can I say how much I cringed when Cullen started singing too? I was sitting there going, "No... No... Cullen! Don't! WAHT R U DOIN! STAHP EET!" I knew Leliana would be able to resist singing, but damnit Cullen. ;-;

I'm gonna wait until I've got more playthroughs down and believe I can write a convincing Solas before starting a fic. Sorry. ^^

Greg Ellis has a very nice voice- I've seen him in a musical in fact. It's the uncanny valley of pixels singing that causes trouble.

In the beginning, someone cried out, "Let there be glam rock Gods." And then the glitter-dystopia Pantheon was born. The thread saw that it was good.

Oh Johnny Rhys M., the things you had to do before Steerpike and Henry Tudor.

[snip]

It's possible that Solas could have not known Flemeth was Mythal without it necessitating his being deceived. Unfortunately, we don't know what Flemeth has been doing moment to moment, but the timeline suggests that she left her hut for good by the time we revive her at Sundermount in DA2. It's possible he missed her by virtue of waking too late. There have also been theories that she knew he would eventually take her power; meeting him too soon, before her plans were properly in motion, might have upset all her work. She might have avoided him purposefully.

His voice was fine, even if it was hidden amongst the rest. It's just seeing Cullen singing that did me in. ;_;

If I have time, I could do a version.

Solas totally is into it; Andruil is dangerous and awesome and has a mohawk, feather hair-piece.

Yes.

I'm feeling very musical today so I figure I'll post one of the Solavellan songs I like to listen to. I lean more towards music with no lyrics.

Right? Actually, I forgot an important piece of concept art Carrieli found. Though it has changed since being uploaded, the original title was something like "Sunken Arlathan" (though she could tell you better, my memory from last night is slightly hazed from having 30 minutes of sleep total  ). If we look at this, and then at the art from What Pride Had Wrought, perhaps this was above the area in Cadash Thaig.

But I agree. It seems likely that Solas sought powerful mages after waking, perhaps specifically ones trusted by the People. What you mention about his wonder at Mythal's continued presence is also a good point; I feel like he definitely did not know, perhaps until we did.

Here is the concept art for that. It's now titled "Overgrowth". And just as a side note I also wouldn't put too much stock into what the figure in the foreground looks like, since it's just a perspective / scale tactic.

Spoiler

Off topic, but Rest in Peace, Mr. Nimoy. :(  Toasts a childhood inspiration and the first window to the amazing world of Sci-fi and fantasy that has brought me so much pleasure over the years.  Maybe a bit on topic because I might not be here now if not for all the hours of Star Trek I watched as a child -  it has given me a permanent aversion to red shirts though.

On topic: Ugh, that song.  The feels.  Wow, can't believe I missed it before.   All the amazing fan works really speak for how much a game can affect us.  Kudos to all who write, draw, sing, ect.

I think it's the least invasive one on the face, while still retaining a nice symmetry. it's my favorite one as well, and I don't like face tattoos much.

I think I might be one of the only people who really dislikes the Mythal vallaslin. I don't know why. Vaguely reminiscent of chaotic spider veins or something? I don't know. Sylaise and June's are my favs. Dirthamen and Andruil's are also cool. And Elgar'nan's. And Falon'Din's. I don't really like Ghilan'nain's either. *runs away*

Abelas is Abelas. Babelas is us saying that he is BOTH Abelas AND an utter BABE.

Wait. *squints at picture* Does Abelas not have eyebrows? Why am I only noticing this now. What's happening.

@lynroy - I love the Piano Guys.  I've been listening to Loreena Mckennitt's "Dante's Prayer" for Solas recovery.

So, recently I was reading and article about DLC and they said that Bioware has taken back their original statement about a expansion like DAO:Awakening and now say it is a possibility. Has anyone else heard this? I will have to see if I can find the article again.

All this talk of Felassan makes me want to read The Masked Empire. Besides Felassan (evidently) being Best Elf, is it a good read?

TME gets off to a slow start, but it's worth getting past the first few chapters and into the rest of the book. It's a very good read and offers insight to some of the characters we meet in the game. I just wish they could have been as detailed in the game as the book made them. Briala especially.

I had a super hard time with the beginning. But haha once Felassan showed up in the story it got way easier and was a good read imo.

It is worth it for best elf. You will also likely appreciate Briala/Gaspard/Celene a lot more.

Yeah I discovered I love Briala and Michel and also Imshael is a great character. It adds a lot to those parts of the game that they show up :)

That's how it was for me as well. Fel was what I needed to help me deal with so many Orlesians. His humor was very welcome. Fel has a few interesting stories about Fen'Harel as well.

Thx for the input, guys! I'll pick it up this weekend. I would like some more back story on those Orlesian jerks, too. In the game their characters came off quite differently to me than what I've read from those who've experienced them in the book, so that should be interesting at least.

And more stories about Fen'Harel is always good.

I really did not trust Briala in the game, for some reason. And I was obviously playing as an elf, so it made even less sense from a RP perspective. I still reconciled her with Celene, however. Though I hear I may think otherwise after reading the book, Gaspard was the only one who struck me as likable in the game. Will report back with results, post-read!

He does not. It does not take away from the fact that my Lavellan wanted to climb up on him the second he said endure.

Falon'Din and Dirthamen teaching Solas how to sing.

Spoiler

Found the poorest of excuses to link that vid.

Having a nice sounding voice doesn't mean one knows how to sing properly. I imagine Solas heard Cullen at the Dawn Will Come scene and thought "Nope. I'll be very quiet. And very silent."

Good point. Consider me on the fence regarding Solas' potential singing capabilities, or lack thereof.

Oh god, that was so cringy. His face. I think I might have unconsciously leaned away from the TV.

This is so beautiful! I love the cello.
