So, I'm now officially writing a heavy drinking scene. With Cass in it.

Actually, most of the characters are funny when drinking.. Maybe they'll have a party after the big bad. The only one who'd be left out would be Cole. "Everyone hurts, but the drink makes it quieter. Makes them forget for a little while. Why?"

Oh I'd love to read something with a drunken Solas in it. Also it's a pity he's not with the team playing Wicked Grace. Imagine him losing his ancient pyjamas to Josephine or Dorian :D

Nah. Solas wasn't invited to Wicked Grace because he'd wipe the floor with everyone.

I imagined them all playing strip-wicked grace. Lavellan loses but walks all Isabella-confident back to her room conveniently passing by Solas' study with a "wish you could have been there Love"

OOC as all get out but I don't care

Assuming they could beat Solas! I don't know how good he is compared to others, but I'm pretty sure Blackwall strongly advises against playing Solas for this exact reason...

Lavellan is totally claiming dibs on his pajammies.  Or ending up naked herself more likely.

I always thought it was weird that Cullen was the only one to lose his clothing at the card game. And that Solas wasn't in the card game, despite being good enough at Diamondback to get Blackwall naked.

I keep wishing that Lavellan would have had more.. Playful lines with Solas. Not immature pranks like Sera would pull. But just general playfulness. He's so grim sometimes, I just want to pair him with super sunshine Lavellan to act as a foil. After all, Cole says she's bright like staring at the sun.

I like to take the middle ground, as far as fictional races/cultures/species are concerned. People should never feel invisible, or like their culture is an afterthought... or like they've been absorbed into the dominant culture with no unique voice of their own. They have a right to celebrate what they are and where they came from. But on a greater scale, in the end people are just people, with the same worries and fears and hopes and passions as anyone else, and a little empathy goes a long way.

I think Solas "ELVEN GLORY!!1" and Sera "pffft elf schmelft" are both a teency bit right in their own way.

Yeah it's no fun to play with know-it-alls.

I paired Solas with a sweet, gentle, insatiably curious Lavellan who probably drives him nuts on occasion. I really love the early romance where she's constantly wrong-footing him even though she is not that suave.

*le sigh* And it begins. The great struggle with my alternative rock station on Pandora ---> "Already Gone" by Kelly Clarkson

What the actual ****?

Solas: "I didn't come here to hurt you; now I can't stop."

Goddamnit *face-in-hands*

Lavellan: "Solas. You had a discussion yesterday with Vivienne about staff cleaning."

Solas: "Yes. What of it?"

Lavellan: "Maybe you could show me how you... clean your staff." *wiggles eyebrows uncontrollably*

Varric: "Hey Chuckles, you coming to the game tonight?"

Solas: "I can't. I have my studies to continue."

Varric: "Well, I know someone who would like to study a certain... field of interest" *winks at Lavellan*

I need this. Playful Lavellan who shamelessly flirts with Solas and makes little dirty jokes and is just joyful and funny and Solas rolling his eyes a little to hide his smile and how his face lits up when he sees her laugh

True, but don't forget that chess match with Iron Bull. Solas is scary good at games in general, I think.

Plus, Solas had only just learned. Here's the quote from Blackwall.

"Don’t play Diamondback with Solas. You’ve been warned. Taught him the game last night, and he turned right around and beat me at it! Lost everything. Had to walk back to my quarters with only a bucket for my bits."

Okay.

As others have noticed and reported, I have now officially activated 10 of Solas's ancient elven artifacts... and "What Lies Dormant" has not triggered.

This leads me to a few potential theories:

1. It's just flat-out bugged and was not one of the things fixed by Patch 2.

2. If Patch 2 did fix it, it was not a retroactive fix and so I need to activate 10 more going forward (which would be easily doable, since it seems Hedinve's list is the most accurate and there's at least 25 of the things out in the world).

3. Ten is an inaccurate number for triggering the quest. Maybe even have to activate them all in order to trigger, much like how you have to collect every single shard to unlock the Solasan Temple in the Forbidden Oasis.

4. The quest is time-gated and maybe it won't show up as a quest or war table operation until after I've moved the main plot further? I still haven't done "Wicked Hearts" and have only just started "Here Lies The Abyss".

Here is a recap of the 10 I've documented so far, eight from previous posts and two of the three I've uncovered in the Western Approach:

First Batch
Shows one of three in the Hinterlands (I'll go back and try to get the other two soon), one of two in the Storm Coast (I'll update with the second one soon, as I finally just unlocked the area it's in), the one in the Fallow Mire, one of two in the Exalted Plains, and the one in the Lost Temple of Dirthamen

Second Batch - All Crestwood

All three in Crestwood

And below are two of three from the Western Approach. The third will likely come later tonight or tomorrow as I've almost wrapped up exploring/unlocking the whole map. Bear in mind there are spoilers in my descriptions on how to get to each of these.

I paired Solas with a sweet, gentle, insatiably curious Lavellan who probably drives him nuts on occasion. I really love the early romance where she's constantly wrong-footing him even though she is not that suave.

Given that his entire plan to remain incognito seems to rely on no one actually attempting to really get close to him, it doesn't surprise me that she can wrong-foot him. Especially, since she always asks questions about all the stuff he never though to develop answers for going in. After all, he didn't think anyone would really be interested in anything he had to say.

I love how Lavellan hits him in all his vices. She can be played as intelligent, curious, and opened minded constantly pushing him to believe the world can be a better place and that people aren't so bad. He's lonely, she's interested, and she's constantly surprising him. She doesn't do what he expects. That means she's new, something he has not seen before. A treasure. New and surprising people are like crack to immortals, you keep going for too long and you may discover everything is the same. You know what to expect, so you can only be disappointed when it turns out the same way. She can give him reason to pause and reconsider. There's no small bit to where a part of him is like "someone is interested in me? In what I had to say? You noticed me while I was hiding? You respect my attitudes among all these closed minded imbeciles? What is this madness!". It's really kind of cute.

Respectfully disagree. Sera and Varric have views that will lead to a world that is further dominated by humans and human culture. Neither of them retain any of the cultural identities of their people. Which is fine for them personally. I don't think either should be forced to adopt a culture they do not feel connected to. I disagree with the Dwarven system of declaring surface dwarves to be casteless, and I don't like the divisive attitudes of the Dalish, but...
I think they have a right to their own culture and their own space to express that culture outside of the influence of the hegemonic human culture.

But here we are thinking about this like it is human vs elf vs dwarf culture. Why does it have to be human culture? Why not just the culture of the future? I certainly wouldn't expect the "human" culture of present day Thedas to be the same in another 50 years. People progress, ideas change, and when new cultures are introduced they don't disappear, they mix. That is the better Thedas, in my opinion. You can still feel attached to your heritage and be part of a completely different culture. I would never wish ideas or beliefs subjugated on a people, but what is wrong with your beliefs slowly adapting to new ones? You can also feel like you're part of more than one culture.
Maybe I'm just incredibly biased about this topic, however. My family is extremely mixed and I've always thought of ourselves as progressive because of this. My aunt goes to Korean festivals to celebrate her heritage and I'm planning a trip to Guam with my sister so she can visit her biological mother's country. They are both part of the mainstream American culture (human) while holding close to their roots (dwarf and elf, they both are very short XD).
Sorry I went off a bit with real world connections, although I think Theda's does have a lot of real world parallels.

Good grief! This is just awesome...Seriously that wolf glitch is priceless.I had some of them following my party for a while but not attacking us,but would attack the bandits nevertheless. When I reloaded they were gone through.

I had a little dragon following me around, for a little bit. Right after I killed the high dragon in the Hinterlands, one of the babies she summoned stopped attacking me and started to follow us around.  It was still red on the mini map, but it was following me everywhere I went and my companions were not attacking it.  :P

Aaargh, out of liiiiikes! That is freaking adorable and I love it.

And yeah, I really got the "wait, she's actually interested in hearing what I have to say? What is this madness?" in his first Haven conversations. It's been a long time since he's had someone to talk to like that who wasn't some sort of spirit. Also, his "And if you wish to discuss anything...I would enjoy talking" at the end of the Fade Tongue conversation gets me every time. He just sounds so wistful. It's obvious that he loves talking to her.

It's adorable how taken Solas is with Lavellan if they get along well from the start.  He and my Lavellan basically stood around Haven, nerding out over the Fade and making doe eyes at each other.  I maxed out Solas's approval before Adamant  :P

If DLC comes through for us, my Lavellan will continue surprising him.  The revelation that he's Fen'Harel isn't going to bother or faze her.  She's completely fine with who he is, and wickedly pissed off about him lying to her about it.  Let Solas work that one out in his big egghead brain

I love this.

Of course, I paired the same kind of PC with Xan in Kulyok's mod. Because grim, serious elves need someone to brighten them up.

I can just see Cole catching onto them.

Cole: She says things, and means something else. She wants to study with you, but really, she wants you to study her. Why can't she say what she means?

Solas: It is a game, Cole. And it is.. Private.

Lavellan: He knows exactly what I mean when I say it. :P

Cole: Yes.. The game. Tantalizing, teasing. Her words make him think of long nights spent together. In camp, in skyhold.. Bent over a desk, books all around, candlelight glowing dimly..  Where'd it go?

Solas: That's enough, Cole. It is private.

Cole: Her body writhing in the sheets, a soft gasp. The dream is over. But was it a dream? She never knows. You should tell her. You enjoy the dreams as much as she.

Lavellan: Ohhh. So they aren't just dreams. :P

Solas: ~chuckles~ No, vhenan.

I agree. If anyone can understand how easy it is to be misjudged by popular opinion and/or rumors, would it not be Lavellan? Look at all she just went through with the Inquisition. It's not a perfect metaphor, but so few are. I don't get the feeling that he's drawn to her by what is on the outside, but what is on the inside. It's the same the other way around. Lavellan is interested in the true Solas. She will be interested in the true Fen'Harel as well.

Just to share a random thought...Solas leaving the party devastated my poor inquisitor, and she didn't even romance him.
Because I always took him with me and advanced his rift mage tree pretty far,so he would do some mean damage to our enemies or knock them away from my mage when they got too close. Not to mention that He had the best barriers ever,I mean I also had Vivienne knows to cast them but she's not Solas... :'(
