MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

Hello curious elf.

** Due to the forum shutdown/impending deletion, the Solas Thread/Blanketfort has now officially moved to Cyonan's BSN (sometimes referred to as "BSNb", "cBSN", & others). **

[url - http://bsn.boards.net/]

Join us at our new home! You can find our thread here.

[url - http://bsn.boards.ne...n-thread?page=1]

New and old folk welcome, active posters and lurkers alike. Liking Solas is not a participation requirement! In a more general, wider-BSN sense, everyone is also welcome to join the migration to BSNb. We hope to see you there! The BSN may be closed, but many of us are still around and still wanting to discuss the games and talk to each other!   :)

(A huge and warm thankyou to everyone who contributed to the Solas thread over the years. It's been a hell of a ride and it was you guys that made the experience so awesome and special (and not just for me). It was a privilege and very enjoyable to be the OP/part of the community here. maybe it sounds corny, but I won't forget it.)

If you've first come across this post/thread in it's read-only state, don't worry. There's still an active and responsive Solas community at the link above. We'll happily answer your questions/listen to your Solas theories etc. :)

Q. Why did you guys go with BSNb, over one of the other options?

BSNb constitutes a proper BSN Mark II as it's not a pre-existing forum - it's a true continuation of BSN's community in its current state, and also we didn't have to impose on anyone or 'track mud into their house'. It has a similar structure and layout to the BSN, meaning that it's familiar, but some additional features which have improved quality already (an off-topic section for instance makes a triumphant return). It covers DA and ME in equal measure, keeping the number of sites people have to visit to meet their needs low. It's run by admins and mods of good standing within the community - folk who have proven track records and solid reputations - and it was made clear that subcommunities like the Solas Thread were welcome there (they made subforums to allow for discussion of characters and romances in the DA:I and ME: A sections). Further, a lot of BSN's good and notable users and threads (e.g. the Twitter threads) have gone/been moved there, meaning the community makeup and content is similar, and that there's content there that will draw more people. A number of BioWare employees have joined it in their capacity as individuals. At the time of writing, it seems to be the wider BSN community's leading choice by a fair margin - it's very active and has a high (and growing) membercount already. In a more general sense, I think it represents the best chance for a true "Solas Discussion Thread 2" experience in full - the new thread nested like the old one is [was] within the wider BSN community. I guess it was important to me that the fracturing and scattering of the wider BSN community was minimized as much as possible. Do note that we discussed and voted on our options democratically, and that being a member of BSNb does not preclude you from participating in other forums. :)

In the meantime if you need to contact someone or have queries etc, you can find me on Tumblr (knight-enchanter) or email bsnsolas@gmail.com

and now for

The Fun Version of this Announcement  :D

(soundtrack)

Before the fall of the Blanketfort, even before the Blanketfort itself, the civilization of the BioWare Social Network community stretched across all of the internet like a great, indolent cat.

Before the BioWare Mods were named or numbered, our people were glorious and eternal and never-changing. Like the great oak tree, they were constant in their trolling, strong in their favorite romances, and ever reaching for the next game.

They felt no need to rush when life was endless. They worshipped their favorite characters for months at a time. Decisions came after pages of lore debate, and a discussion thread could last for years. From time to time, our ancestors would drift into months-long periods of inactivity between games, but this was not death, for we know they wandered the Twitter thread in lurkdom.

In those ages, our people called all the land BSN, which in the old Tumblr language means "place of toxic cesspools." And at the center of the world stood the great fort of Blankets, a place of knowledge and debate, where the best of the ancient posters would go to trade knowledge, greet old friends, and settle disputes that had gone on for months.

But while our ancestors were caught up in the forever cycle of game releases, drifting through life at what we today would consider an intolerable pace, the world outside the lush hair request threads and ancient topics was changing...

It is said that the corporate overlords used their great destructive power to force the very ground to swallow BSN whole, destroying eons of collected knowledge, culture, and art.

There, see the announcement thread at BioWare Forum/BSN Help. Gaze upon its lack of logic and marketspeak, built on the broken dreams of a people. Our people.

The human prophet AndragonRacer was a slave in the BioWare Imperium, as our ancestors were. When she rose up against them, we rose up with her. Together we fought for freedom. In gratitude and kinship, AndragonRacer promised the Blanketelves a new land: the BSN Boards.

hrungrghilan_zpsyurjqhhy.png

Some of us believe that Hrungr'ghilan, the Pathfinder, the golden halligator, comes to the People in times of great need. Legends also tell of Cyonan'Din and his twin brother SofaJocken. Cyonan'Din had no fear of the darknet and would walk where the People could not live. The twins were inseparable spirits from account creation to the present. The kindly Cyonan'Din took pity on a dying forum and carried her to rest beyond the reach of EA. He vowed that he would remain to guide all the banned to their place Beyond. Since then Cyonan'Din accompanied by his brother guided posters on their journey to the BSN Boards.

tumblr_inline_nizwtv7gtY1r7i8l3.jpg

So we walked. We walked with what little we had on our backs. Some walked without post histories, for they had none. Whole subcommunities, Threaddads with infants, the old and young alike--all of them made their way across the net on foot. Many perished along the way. Some died of exhaustion, others simply gave up and fell by the wayside. A great number were set upon by modbandits, even though we made few infractions. Some turned back towards the Bioperium. But most of us continued walking. And the gods rewarded those of us who did not waver by bringing us to the BSN Boards.

Blanketforters! Sing the elvish eulogy, for elgara vallas on the BSN, da'len. Its time has come and I'm filled with sorrow, but do not dwell in lands no longer yours. As the world burns in the raw chaos, we will endure. There is a place that waits for a force to hold it, a place where the Blanketfort can build and grow. Douse your campfires, load your elf booty gifs into your aravels and follow me on the Long Walk to Halamshiral, the end of our journey. The night is long and the path is dark, but keep to the stars. Let me guide your feet, calm your soul, and lead you to your rest.

"Tighten the rig with the Hearthkeeper’s knot
Topsail, staysail, and main
The traces tie to the girth and the collar
And the collar is tied to the rein

Say thrice the prayer to Ghilan'nain
To quicken the white hall tread
Break camp before the last star has faded
To chase the bright day ahead

A thousand miles beneath the wheels
Sails against the sky
Swifter than a dragon’s flight
The People are passing by

The rein you must hold in your left hand
In the right hand, your dagger or bow
If the shemlen should strike on your journey
Send them to Falon'Din below

The path we beat is the path that we walked
To flee the Tevinter slums
Now we fly on wheels and wings
And hoofbeats are our drums

A thousand miles beneath the wheels
Sails against the sky
Swifter than the fall of night
The People are passing by"

Ma garas mir renan--

(Never fear, little one,
Wherever you shall go.
Follow my voice--
I will call you home
I will call you home.)

MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

For those who are interested, we have been very calculated when it comes to engineering our characters imperfections. The development process has a built in erosion mechanism: many stakeholders in many review meetings tend to trim away a characters humanizing flaws and oddities, leaving little more than "pretty" and "safe" . Strip and shave most game characters today and you'd be hard pressed to tell most of them apart. We've worked very hard on Inquisition to safeguard our characters from this erosion process. We want to give them more identity than just their clothes, hairstyle and makeup. It's our hope that after you've spent some time with them, our character's will be as inseparable from their quirks, flaws and oddities as your own friends and family are from theirs.

I'm starting to think everything in Inquisition requires tears. And every mission auto-fails if you don't bring Vivienne.

You all..... have great suggestions!

You know the old joke, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans."   I think us speculating about Solas romance is a bit like that with the Devs.

Haha a little bit.  It's fun.  Seeing how close some get, trying to figure out how some got WAY out there hehe.

Sounds like Iron Bull was originally race-gated but they changed it.

A few people busted their ass to make sure he wasn't.

I actually like this a lot, despite...everything. It makes his character consistent with Patrick's vision for him and as much as I'm getting weary of hedonistic bi/pan LIs, the representation is appreciated.

I can understand the reservations based on the trope.  Although it's also an avenue to explore The Iron Bull's heritage I think.  Though I'll not distract this particular thread any longer.

(I will say that I hope that people not do anything *unhealthy* hoping for information on Mr. Solas!  I like enthusiasm, but make sure you're all still eating, going to the bathroom, sleeping, etc. etc. :P )

I lurk here a lot.  But I can't lurk anymore.  I need to show my support for LI Solas!  (please Bioware?  Nerdy Fademage voiced by GDL!  IT MUST HAPPEN!)

My innate response was to make some tears related sassy comment.  But I'll admit that even I feel a bit bad tormenting you all on some level.  Mostly because I think it's reached critical levels and any more could just be cruel!

No matter what you do, people will be reading into everything in several different languages
If you start posting everywhere, people will theorise that you're throwing off suspicion and start adding up post numbers

If you go to the Iron Bull thread, you're going to see a bunch of Disney cross-overs that I hastily threw together at this Maker forsaken time in the morning.

Just sayin'.

I hear you. My computer just caught on fire and its how I pay my bills, sister died two weeks ago and I just got diagnosed with Parkinson's. So, I'm bummed. I need something right now. That's how desperate I am for smiles lol. Sad I know.

Otherwise I'm going on black out till release. It's just a game. I know. I'm just having a sad right now.

I'm very sorry to hear all of this.

Sheryl seems nice, I can't see her being mean, I suppose it just rubs right now so possibly appears out of order to people.  The Blackwall thread are lucky they get his writer popping in haha, we've tried summoning Mary Kirby with all kinds of bizarre rituals but it hasn't worked thus far :D

Sheryl's post is more "Come to grips with the fact that the reveal might not happen before the game gets released.  If it does, then yay, but if not... you aren't getting further upset/frustrated with each passing day that the announcement doesn't happen."

(Spoken as someone that doesn't know the details of why the reveals even occurred for the known LIs, which is possibly similar to how much Sheryl knows).

It's... a little odd to see a thread where folks are speaking reasonably, from the heart as well as the head.

What is this? Narnia? Is this thread where unicorns come to chat?

I've been lurking on this thread for a while now, but I finally decided to make an account so I could add to this bit of conversation!

When I first played Mass Effect, I wasn't really sure on my orientation, but I leaned more towards being straight than anything else. I'd never really been attracted to a lady before, but MAN did Tali prove me wrong. She was so gosh darn cute I couldn't help but have a huge crush on her. I'll admit, I have crushes on LOTS of Mass Effect and Dragon Age characters, male and female, but the ladies have really won me over. Especially Isabela, she's my favorite LI out of all of them. And now that I've figured out that I'm asexual, I'm pumped as hell to see an ace character (especially an ace LI, I'd probably cry if there was one) in future games! Bioware's really helped me come to terms with my identity, and though I've just gotten into ME and DA fairly recently, I plan on being a long time fan.

Thank you for sharing! :)
