I like how Solas noticed my new Knight Enchanter magic.

Ok I just finished the game and I am really confused about Solas.

What is he exactly? and what did he do? It was all too fast and I feel like I missed a convo somewhere or I didn't pay attention. lol I'm worried about him! I really like his character however I don't know if the romance got more explanation as to what his involvement with Corypheus was because I feel like I didn't get anything. Any theories out there? I refused to do his romance because that cliffhanger was a sin, not putting my Inquisitor through that yet. Also did he kill Flemeth? So many questions Solas!!!!

To be honest, i really liked the look of my Lavellan and now she feels naked to me.

 

So I cant imagine how she feels, having given up something so personal just to have her heart broken 2 minutes after. >.<

 

I think Cole was spot on with her feeling embarassed.

My Lavellan had the same tattoo as you, but darker skin and her hair pulled back (she's my avatar, haha)

 

I notice now that she doesn't have tattoos, her eyebrows need some maintenance and she goes a bit heavy on her eye makeup. Hopefully they come out with a character updater so she can adjust to her new look.

He's getting along well with my really dorky looking male quizzy there. I really wish I could change my inquisitor's appearance in game. I was really far through it by the time I realised that my male inquisitor had a freakishly large head.

 

I like my Lavellan both with and without her tattoo. I made it to match her eyeshadow so it kinda just looked like more makeup. I haven't really played much post campaign though. Messed up a few bits of that run and I intend to redo it and live through the heartache all over again in the new year

I had June's* markings. It's so bizzare. Also I realized I never put eyeliner on her because those Vallaslin have built-in eyeliner. She looks a bit like she's just woken up (especially since she is always wearing her pajamas)

And it doesn't look like she's an elf anymore because her hair hides one of her ears...

The second one has Lavellan walking over to him, clearly stepping into his comfort zone. I believe she would have kissed him first, but he tried to walk away. She stopped him and then he's like "But losing you would..." cue epic kiss scene.

They were so perfect together, even if Solas warned her several times that it was a bad idea and wouldn't end well. I'm not sure who did this cutscene, but this was amazing, and heartbreaking. The way they look at each other, you can really feel just how much they care about each other, experience the shift from deep affection to resolve, disarray and pain.

 

And now I need answers! Why isn't he honest with her? Why can't they be together? Gosh, I still have some side quests left unfinished so I'm trying hard not to rush to the end for that, but it's so hard not to have some kind of resolution.

 

Well... can you imagine if he was actually honest with Lavellan though?

I mean, my Lavellan would would have eventually said, "Screw it, yes." but some others might react very, very poorly. lol

 

I went back and watched all my romance scenes.

He did a very bad job at warning her. I mean, he did warn her, but I don't know if I agree with people who say the relationship only happened because Lavellan pushed for it.

 

Scene 1 - she gives him a quick, shy kiss. Instead of saying, "we shouldn't, this is a bad idea," he grabs her and passionately kisses her twice. Then says "this is a bad idea."

 

Scene 2 - He's the one who starts talking about the first kiss! And then all Lavellan does is touch his arm when he starts to leave. Again, he's the one who kisses her!

 

Scene 3 - He's the one who invites her to a romantic spot, and start all the "you're special, you're beautiful, I'm gonna grab your butt while I kiss you." And then breaks up with her.

 

It's like someone repeated giving you a bunch of heroin saying "here try this." Then, "oh yea, you might get addicted, maybe you shouldn't have done that."

Solas just cannot resist Lavellan. Lavellan barely pushes anything along at all, to be honest. It's all Solas. That's something I actually really like about the romance, especially with the knowledge of just who and what he is. He knows exactly why it's a bad idea, but he still can't help himself. And even if you don't initiate a romance with him, his dialogue and facial expressions still seem like those of a man who is finding himself feeling something for the Inquisitor. Even if it's just great respect and admiration.

That is true! Still, Lavellan isn't 100% innocent, either. But she only gives the first little push, a small little snowball that begins to roll down a tall mountain. And instead of stopping it, Solas actively tries to give it even more momentum.

I think I might just keep them because I love how she looks with them on so much. Plus I think it makes sense for my character. She thinks the elves, and the mages, and the templars, can all be better than they are. She wants to look to the future, though she also acknowledges the mistakes that were made in the past. The vallaslin are a part of her, a reminder of what needs to be changed, but also that symbols can take on new meanings.

I mean, isn't the thing Solas loves about Lavellan how she sees the world with a wisdom he didn't expect? Even tho she's been told things about Fen'Harel her whole life, what he loves about her is that she's open to new ideas. So my Lavellen would accept Solas and all the truths he told her. Him keeping everything from her is him being afraid that she isn't what he loves about her.

in my book, that shows they both really want it. sometimes she pushes, sometimes he does. Thaits why its so sad it cant work out.

In my playthrough, I was trying to come up with reasons why he seemed to think it was a bad idea.

the best I could come up with was either:

 

1) He secretly wanted to somehow get rid of the veil in the process of defeating corypheus. My thought - he's a good person, he can't want to do that if its a bad idea, if he explains it to me I'm sure I won't have a problem with it.

 

2) He's worried about the Inquisition appearing too much like crazy elves trying to change the world. My thought - that's a stupid reason, screw what people think.

 

But basically, like you said, Lavellen doesn't know why its a bad idea, so she can't really make a good decision.
