That's basically what I did originally.

 

But now I just really, really want someone to have a boyfriend by the end of my game...

 

I started a second Lavellan and couldn't decide between going for Solas again or trying Blackwall's romance (since I have a thing for burly bearded men XD)... guess who I picked?

 

I'll have to make a human if I want to try another romance it seems.

It seems to be what Cole wanted, even though I disliked disagreeing with Solas, since we had become good friends (and he used the elven term 'Lethallin' to greet me).

The scene where Lavellan takes Cole to eat was nice, especially when he laughed and was happy to realize he wouldn't lose his friend if he changed, and made me feel like I made the right choice. Cole was also estatic when Corypheus couldn't bind him.

I let Cole become more a spirit, and in a later conversation he mentioned something about how he was glad (I think?) I did not trying to change him from what he was. That was important to my character, to accept him for who he is and not try to divert him from his purpose for existing. Especially after what she learned during Solas's personal quest with the spirit of wisdom.

 

Also, was his quest for that whole amulet-binding-forgiveness thing not one of the more awesome ones in the game? I loved it, from when he and Solas are first arguing to when you take him to the cafe and he is helping people. It just felt so alive.

Solas as "The Tower" reminds me of that conversation he has with Vivienne. She says that he enjoys seeing himself as the villain; Solas says something like "not more so than any cunning man who wishes to know what he could do if pushed"...

You know, I think one of my favorite flirts is when Solas compliments you on your "indomitable focus". I saw a feisty side to my Lavellan and Solas...especially when she chuckled when he said seeing her being dominating would be fascinating. That chuckle was so "oh, you have no idea." Rawr.

- Early on: Emphasizing the danger of the Breach over other concerns
- Black humor, like joking about riding in on a silver steed or saying "humans will always blame us eventually," or making fun of the couple having a tryst in a decrepit inn in Crestwood
- Helping refugees in the Hinterlands
- Investigating elven artifacts when he points them out
- Sentencing Alexius to help you with magical research

Those are the ones that come to mind atm.

A lot of the Approval has been covered already, but questions. Ask lots of questions about everything.

 

DIsapproval - seems to come from concrete statements. i.e. "Andraste sent me", "Blood magic is evil." Or wielding the influence/power of the Inquisition to get people to join (i.e. conscripting the mages vs offering them refuge)

Approval for saying you'll break the barriers (I believe this dialogue option is specially available when you take the Arcane Knowledge Inquisition Perk).

Approval for breaking all the barriers before the Pride Demon is killed.

Approval for letting him Rage Kill the mages. Disapproval if you stop him from having his tantrum.

I don't recall seeing approval from him for some of these things, and I for sure poked fun at the couple having a tryst. Are these hidden approvals, or was I just already maxed out by that point, I wonder?

Did you guys notice that during the conversation you have with him on your balcony (after his personal quest), he will slightly disapprove if you say you're "no different from anyone else?" I guess he feels pretty strongly that Lavellan is special

As for the approval, if you dont go the mage route (im keeping it for an other of my characters), you can go Templars and bring them into the Inquisition to give them a new purpose and hes pretty enthousiast.

Guys, I took a nap and had a dream in which I was in skyhold and decorating it with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas decorations all at once. Then Solas came to me with a mission for Cole. Then I completed the mission and thanked me and I got to briefly touch his hands as he left. Then I woke up. It was all hazy and stuff (except for the holiday decoratons of all things), but it was pretty cool. I even got to put my hand out and do the holding motion on a spot in skyhold to make it have holiday decorations lol.

  "The key to winning approval with Solas is to show that you are thoughtful and inclined to see shades of gray in the world. Declaring things to be simply black-and-white matters will earn Solas' disapproval quickly, but asking many questions and looking for more information will impress him. He prefers the thoughtful approach in most situations and does not approve of you claiming to be sent by Andraste in order to win alliances. You can improve Solas' opinion of you by finding elven artifacts and activating them in order to get a more accurate measurement of the strength of the veil. These are scattered around the world, but Solas will point them out to you when you are near them."

 

Some little decisions that are mentioned as approval are: Performing the Mythal temple ritual and accepting the alliance with Abelas.
