It's possible she was a kind of mother figure. In the legends she's kind of the mother of the gods (of course we know the legends don't hold much water but still)

ok, so i'm way behind the curve here and this is going to seem like a dumb question, but can someone tell me how to get solas's quest to unlock or provide me with a link to some such discussion of this nature? i'm pretty close to endgame (at least, i think i am) and it still hasn't happened yet. thanks.
He is the one to tell you about his personal quest, so im not sure why it hadn't triggered for you. Did you run through all his dialogue options? It might be hidden behind what he has to say about your choices for the Warden or Orlais' Ruler, etc.

The music fits Solas and Lavellan's relationship so perfectly. It feels off hearing it start during other romances. Solas certainly set a high standard.

For me, it was the first companion quest to unlock, I assume because I had the highest approval with him earliest (go figure) - and it unlocked basically right after i got to skyhold, after our first romance scene.

Did anyone tried starting a romance with him during the second scene and then just be a complete dick and getting a high disapproval rate? I wonder if he breaks it off without all the sweet talk if you do that.

I am so thankful he's a female elf restriction. I'd have to avoid all the females to not romance him. XD
I don't know,I got that one on my Cullen romance playthrough and Solas almost always approved of my choices,maybe the one with The white wolf is his romance card?

So, I just learned a few interesting things:
1. There appear to be more than 10 of these artifacts. Your maps number 10, and yet there is one in the Temple of Dirthamen. I know because I just played through that last night and it is its own separate zone just outside Val Royeux (that you unlock via an elven glyph quest you can stumble upon in the Exalted Plains, locate all the glyphs, then have a war table operation to decipher them). And it's DEFINITELY one of Solas's artifacts. I thought, seeing your maps, that I was misremembering... but I am standing there right now as I post this and it exists. I just took a screenshot.
2. The original one in the Hinterlands... the one that starts the artifact hunt. It's gone now. I also went there and, lo and behold, it no long sits there doing its little artifact thing. Interesting.
3. Your map doesn't seem to show the one in the Exalted Plains. It shows the Offering to the Dread Wolf shrine, at which it stands at the foot of the bridge to it, but I see no symbol on your map.
Methinks the guide may have some faults. Not saying this against you at all! You've revealed all the locations (of at least 10) far faster than I would by foot via trial and error while people wait on me to progress further in the game. But it has some odd inconsistencies. I also find it very strange the first one disappeared. I wonder if people are having trouble unlocking the quest because there appear to be 1) more than 10 (unless 10 is the minimum required to unlock the quest) and 2) the first one seemingly evaporates into thin air after completion.
I took screenshots of maps and physical locations anyway, just to help supplement your map photos. Will upload those tonight... and considering I have one that the maps say doesn't exist... I am glad I have done this!

Actually I'm glad you pointed out the flaws! I haven't finished the quest personally so I'd have gone off the images instead when I finally did it in my second playthrough. Knowing it isn't right is rather nice actually! Thanks, especially for the supplementation!

I actually haven't gotten the quest completed yet either. Still on my first playthrough because it's a completionist one, but knew I had 100% found all the artifacts in the zones I've cleared out so far.
Your maps will help me on the ones I haven't done yet... or help me find any more flaws.
I'll keep the artifact-hunting search updated in here as I progress.
