Actually if he is an ancient elf from the times of Arlathan it is probably more like around 8000 years old .. 1000 years ago was beginning of Andrastian Chantry, 1st Blight, founding of HalimSharal, Dales, and Grey Wardens (rought estimate as they were all founded aftter Andrastes death and I think that is about when it is on the Thedas timeline)

@SuranaMage: I wonder if he would answer that question if he was asked. I'd love to know how they went from not considering him a romance to deciding to put a romance in his story but on such a limited level. I personally assume it's because they had time and figured Solas would have an interesting romance arc. I'm SO thankful that happened because Blackwall and Iron Bull aren't my cup of romance tea. I don't know what I would have done if Solas and Cullen hadn't been added!

makes me really wonder why the decision was made. I mean, was it something the Weekes were playing around with during his initial creation? And mybe that's why he doesn't have as many scenes as the other romances; they weren't sure how the fandom would take his romance so they decided to play it safe.

I thought, "finally, I can make him a Warden and they can be together" NOPE. She is doomed to be alone unless I pair her with the Sebastian Hawke or something. [/spoilers]
