I could be remembering this wrong, but when I first talked to Solas in Haven about his beloved spirits..
Aha. I can't talk about Solas with it turning into a big old brain fart.

I don't think Solas was intentionally trying to rip the veil, he's smart he know what would happen. Also, Bioware doesn't tend to repeat something, DA:O has had virtually no influence over the other 2 games, except Hawke fleeing Fereldan because of the blight, DA2 plot was really awkward, it felt like the mage rebellion lasting a whole of 20 minutes in DAI, so I doubt they are going to have Solas ripping open the veil again in the next Dragon Age.
This thread is awesome.
I just want to throw this out there-Spoiler
...And now that well has become even more complicated for me. Am I picking up on something that isn't here, or are there more ways we can tie this word to Solas?
(Oh, and the most Solas/Inquisitor song is Maps by Maroon 5.)
Well, there's this...
So, while sorting through screenshots, I forgot I took this one of Cole. I'd gone to talk to him and you know how he'll say those random things before your dialogue wheel opens up?
Well, I got this one. I... can't really parse out its meaning. Anyone fancy taking a shot at it?
If it makes any difference at all, relationship status with Solas at this point is after second kiss scene and before "Wicked Hearts" quest with the ballroom dancing and stuff. So, well into a romantic relationship in which I have been riding around doing a whole lot of random stuff while fervently ignoring the main questlines because my choice is advancing the main plot forward or going ahead and agonizing my way through "Here Lies The Abyss", both of which scare me because Impending Pain.
In case you have trouble reading the text, it says:
"Solas, bright and sad, observes and accepts. Spirit self, seeing the soul, Solas, but somehow sorrows."
And that's it. Nothing before it, and after it was just the usual dialogue wheel where I can ask him about the random crap he does around Skyhold.

Maybe not, but make it permeable, maybe?

I hope they stop their trend and go back a few steps xD
I had this dream the other night where my dalish elf warden was searching for the cure to the taint and accidentally found an old god and tainted it. Of course my other dalish elf quizzy helps to stop what could be the biggest blight ever.
I always imagined both of my elf characters really hardcore about ancient Elvhen'nan and recovering what was lost. I feel like they would band together to help with whatever Solas is planning
As for Hawke..... he can go die at Weisshaupt because I don't really care about him.
"Solas, bright and sad, observes and accepts. Spirit self, seeing the soul, Solas, but somehow sorrows."
This is infuriatingly like a puzzle. Possibly spirit self is referring to Cole? So, he feels that Solas is 'bright and sad', observes and accepts. Cole from the spirit side of things sees his soul, but there's only sorrow?
Or maybe it is another anagram. I trust nothing now.
Another thing that I can't figure out is his inner circle quest with the elven artifacts.

Cole is probably the most confusing character ever. He's always giving pieces to a puzzle you can't solve.
TME spoilers.
This confession could have been posted by many, at this point.

hey @PatrickWeekes. the jaw-bone on solas' necklace, what creature does it come from (i'm guessing wolf)? i need to know. for science. >_>
I believe your guess is correct, though @Nthornborrow would know for sure.

I was thinking about this as an idea for fanfiction yesterday. It's pretty clear that whatever the Dalish are doing now isn't working, and that there are still plenty of places where Old Power exists. If the Well of Mythal could restore a little bit of knowledge with relatively benign consequences (sure you're under her control but she hasn't made you do too much yet), why not seek out more information...why not seek out the Old Gods? What else is she going to do?
The Wardens, the Old Gods, the creators...are probably all related. It was mentioned several times in DA:I that the taint/calling can be "cured" -- maybe that cure can be used on the Old Gods? Though I think that question is more likely to be answered/brought up in DA:4. I'm excited either way.

Trust nothing! Everything is a puzzle! If you read the lumps on Solas' head you'll get the ending to DA:5!
Another thing that I can't figure out is his inner circle quest with the elven artifacts.

I didn't even catch the alliteration. Hmmm... this will be infuriating.

No, the ancient Tevinter did something wrong to the fade a thousand years ago that caused the Silent Ruins. I'm pretty sure the Elfs saw it and put some devices around Thedas to stop holes poked by that Tevinter meddling from bleeding into Thedas
I picked a couple flirt options with other characters and it didn't do anything. Had to ask Cullen about templar celibacy, lol.
I flirted enough with Cassandra for her to confront me at Skyhold... I opted for "I didn't mean anything by it," but I know that she was going to tell me she wasn't into women. lmao
I also remember the first time I chose to flirt with her--"Is there any harm in getting to know you better?" sort of line--and received "CASSANDRA DISAPPROVES." pffft

When I started playing DAI, even though my warden wasnt in it, I could see DA4 involving the warden and the quizzy
BTW we have mesh now, so pretty soon you will be seeing Solas models. I want to pose him with Lavellan ![]()
@PatrickWeekes Who was Solas' writer? If you're not busy dying at the moment.
Me, although @davidgaider and @genevrael had a lot of input.
Do you think they knew since the beginning of Origins that they were going to bring Fen'Harel and a breach and all the into the game or do you think they are kinda making the story up as they go? I sorely hope they were planning this, because it means they have something big in store.
OH i was in da tavern and i heard a familiar song and almost started crying from nostalgia at Dragon Age Origins. The song, "I Am the One" like listen to the lyrics in english, not elven.
I feel sun
Through the ashes in the sky.
Where’s the one
Who’ll guide us into the night.
What’s begun
Is the war that will force this divide.
What’s to come
Is fire and the end of time.
I am the one
Who can recount
What we’ve lost.
I am the one
Who will live on.
I have run
Through the fields
Of pain and sighs.
I have fought
To see the other side.
I am the one
Who can recount
What we’ve lost.
I am the one
Who will live on.
And this song has been in DA since DAO. "I am the one who can recount what we've lost" sound like Solas to anyone??

I think they had some things in mind, but nothing concrete. DA:O could have been a stand-alone game while still feeling complete. DA:I begs for a sequel or an expansion. Once DA:O was successful, I imagine they got down to fleshing out their ideas from before: what happened in the past, what is going to happen in the future, what does it mean, what is the larger lore, etc. They had to retcon quite a few things from DA:O, and I think part of that stems from the fact that they didn't really know what they wanted to do after that game. The number of retcons from DA:2, however, are few (if any - I can't think of any right now).
