Oh yes, he's very passionate. Talking about the "power, intrigue, danger, and sex" at the ball and then there's that second kiss... maybe it's cause I had headphones in, but I heard a LOT of lip/tongue smacking noises, lol. Git it boi!

I don't think the writers will invalidate the Chantry's beliefs and put the Elves on a pedestal and humanity in the dust, remember that the Elves themselves believe their gods were created, the Maker is probably real but the Chantry's details regarding him are obscure at best

Seriously, though... I think they really are going to go with the "there are no true gods in Thedas" thing.  That the Inquisitor may as well be a god to most plebs really drives this home for me.  And that would free them up from being tethered to the Judeo-Christian analogy.

Yes exactly, and considering Andraste's alleged divinity, the Elves would've at least suspected that her god was actually their god Elgar'nan talking to her, I am more inclined to think that the Maker is another divinity outside of the Elven Pantheon and Old Gods, LOTR has Iluvatar, Forgotten Realms has Ao, and DA has the Maker.

I wanted to dissolve it too! I was so excited when people were saying it might be past the point of no return. That might not really be fair, I'm sure the Chantry does some good outside of the whole mage-oppression bit, but I couldn't figure out why Lavellan would care about it.

I imagine that his romance scenes are glimpses of what he was like before. For a few seconds he's just a sly elf getting a kiss from the lady he fancies. I love in the second scene where she tries to put her arm over his and he moves so he can just envelop her.

 

 

Side note. Can't remember if I asked before but have any of you imported a Dalish Warden? Does it change any of the conversations (mostly with Solas) or outcomes at all?

Yeah, Bioware writes an air of agnosticism when it comes to DA gods (Demons not knowing nor caring if the Maker exists, elven Gods just being super immortal mages, Old Gods just being very powerful Dragons,etc.) but at least in the story Fen, Mythal & the Elven Pantheon do exist as real characters and Dumat and co also exists, humanity will be left-out if their god either does not exists or just an alter-ego of of Elgar'nan, the Maker must exists as a real original entity though if he is actually the all-powerful creator of the world is still up in the air

I would agree with the decision, but as the vast majority of people play humans I doubt it.

of course one must ask what is a god or goddess?

 

As a polytheist IRL(I practice hellenisomos or greek polytheism) my view of what is a god or goddess is much more loose then someone who is used to the monotheistic view. As an example, I do believe that places can have nymphs, nature spirits, to them especially natural features, like rivers, lakes, mountains and so on. 

 

I bring this up because when people talk about 'true gods' I always wonder what they mean by that. The elven gods may have been powerful mages, though considering they can jump bodies they have some interesting magic. they may not need to be all powerful but that doesn't mean they are no less true IMO.

 

as for the chantry, my lavellan doesn't care at all about it. She remembers the stories of the exalted march against the dales and in her view the chantry is part of the reason why alianages are so horrible. In her mind they support the abuse against elves or at least are not outspoken about it. Not to mention she doesn't agree at all with their view of magic.

 

This is in direct contrast with my trevelyan who is strongly pro-chantry, albit she is a bit of an idealist and reformer. Navilia Trevelyan is devoted to andraste and the maker and believes that the chantry is a force for good. It has made mistakes she will admit but it is ultimately in her view a force for good.

Nothing mentioned by Solas that I remember, but your letter from the Warden has special Dalish bonding.

I imported a dalish warden no one made note of it, not even a wee remark about how good the dalish are at saving the world...

So I've realised one of my all time favourite songs, written by my favourite (and so appropriately named) musician, actually fits Solas quite well for me. Now I'm lost in a sea of feels.

The story behind the song: This song is about when Patrick took a trip to Ireland and saw a wooden cross with just the name 'Damaris' on it. He enquired with the vicar as to who it was and the vicar said he didn't know, that it had been there and was said to be the grave of a girl, who fell in love with the vicar (of the time)'s son, but he had to stop loving her because of her religion. It is said she died of a 'broken heart' 

 

Ah, religion and a broken heart.. My Levallan knows them feels.

The "canon" isn't set on what's more plot relevant (and, really, that's up to interpretation) but what minimizes callbacks. The canon Warden did the Ultimate Sacrifice, which essentially erases the major plot relevant LI stuff you could have (becoming a monarch/doing the DR).

I wish, but I doubt it.  Solas was not initially intended to be a romance option.  And they limited it down to a female elf.  That's too small a percentage of the possible inquisitors a person can play.  I just hope they don't throw his romance out of a window and pretend like it never happened, or only briefly mention it.  My Inquisitor wants some closure!  He promised!  But I feel like I am hoping too much for a happy ending.

I always interpreted that as a default world state rather than canon.  it's mostly for those that haven't played the previous games, so setting it like that leaves less threads that wouldn't be relevant for someone that never played through it.
