Just had an interesting banter(omfg right) between Iron Bull and Solas. It went something along:

Bull: You fight like a champ, Solas.

Solas: So?

Bull: You kicked their asses, feel proud for a change.

Solas: Violence is a means to an end. You don't celebrate. Unless it's personal.

Bull: We kill a lot and we are good. We should enjoy it.

Solas: All those men had families.

Bull: Yeh, but they were assholes.

 

Of course this is my artistic rendition, and not really accurate by definition. But the personal part was. That's what I found so interesting. What is personal to Solas? He mentioned it, so there has to be someone that he wants to kill and using ridiculous amounts of violence while doing it. Who could it be? Maybe I'm just delving too deep into what he says. But hey, it's Solas. There can never be enough of Solas.

Interesting! There are many things we don't know though, such as, are the elvhen gods all that bad? Did he do it to save them, as Cole suggested? We also know that way back in the day, there was no veil, and the elvhen mage "gods" could LITERALLY shape reality. I think he meant it literally when he said he needs to collapse the veil, haha. Maybe the veil being there is a result of his actions, too? Ahh, so many unknowns

It could well be that the Inquisitor is a Dreamer. given the prevalence of Tevinter ancestry in the Free Marches where your human Quizzy comes from and the predominance of the Somniari (Dreamer) gift amongst the Elves (Remember Feynriel in DA2).. exposure to the Orb could have woken up her abilities  it could well be that she is an untrained Dreamer after all Feynriel's gift as a Dreamer did not appear until he was in late adolescence. This could explain why Solas feels she is different - because she is a Dreamer as well and just has not been trained- after all neither the Dalish nor the Circle in Kirkwall could train Feynriel (though I think given the ancestral hatred of Dreamers amongst the Elves- won't may be the more correct answer) they had to send him to Tevinter

That scene gets painted right after the trip to the fade. I thought it was because Quizzy walked physically on the fade. My Quizzy is Dalish Elf

I wish BioWare would stop with the trend of whole clans or nearly whole clans of Dalish being wholesale slaughtered. That's four now. Sabrae. Lavellan. Virnehn. Zathrian's clan. There are no other groups in Thedas that BioWare consistently wipes out whole branches of. Ugh.

imo: it's the lore we had from DA:O and DA2 that is inaccurate (i.e. most current Dalish lore). The revelations in DA:I is accurate lore I think. just my opinion of course

"but the People, they need me", then? Does he plan to restore the ancient elves, or does he just plan to free the sleeping "gods". Who are his "People"? We know that he himself dislikes the old gods, and tells you they had agendas and petty vendettas, but there's more to it.

I was thinking about Solas's "everything will become clear" line and it made me wonder.

 

What would have happened if the orb hadn't broken during the final battle? I think he meant that things would be clear if it survived and Solas got hold of it again. I just wonder how it would have gone down because of course the Inquisition would have wanted to take the orb for safekeeping and Solas wouldn't let that happen. Maybe he meant that it'd be somewhat clear what was going on because he would have grabbed that orb and left? Then it'd be obvious that he had something to do with everything that went on.

I don't have it, someone posted it here a while back. I can't remember what pages it might be around, and it's hidden behind a spoiler tag. It basically was a report from Leliana

saying no one had been able to find Solas, and that she'd researched the town he said he grew up in. The village was just a bunch of centuries-old ruins.

So there's still a gap, but she knows something fishy is going on.

I also think this, to a much lesser degree, aids to foreshadowing:

While it is minor, it is something. It's extremely subtle, if taken in the interpretation I offer: during banter and conversations, Solas will occasionally give companions epithets with the word child or some subset suggesting youth. For example, he calls Vaaric "child of the stone" (or "child of stone"?). And the monikers Solas uses aren't meant to be demeaning; Solas is just an ancient being who's had ample time to roam the land, so it's appropriate for him to view others as young.

 

Of course, I can't remember the context of the Vaaric example. So this notion may be nulled.

I've had a most curious bug concerning Solas's romance. 

 

I'm on my second playthrough as Lavellan (still romancing Solas). I did his first quest, got the first kiss, etc... but I've been deliberately dragging things out as RP, to make it seems like they were slowly getting to know each other (instead of that first mad dash to to the finish point). I did his second quest with his spirit wisdom friend, went back to Skyhold and had the cutscene initiated. Then I went and talked to him again in his study and started what should be the second romance scene (in which he started out by asking if Lavellan's spirit was changed in any way)... then... the scene ended... nothing happen. He just said Lavellan was a valued friend and that was it,.. and I was sitting there like... wow, I sure hope I don't have to reroll back all the way to the beginning of skyhold.

 

Has anybody had this problem? Did I do anything wrong? Is it a lack of approval point (I'm sure I have a lot of approval points from him)

Did you make decisions that pissed him off? I dragged it out too and was fine.
