I let him keep the gear. I made it for him, after all.
Bastard had better return it eventually.
Now I'm just picturing Lavellan sobbing hysterically whilst knitting a bunch of hobo sweaters... lol!

I...... I must confess my Solas addiction, after lurking on this thread for nearly two weeks. My elf mage spent 90 percent of the romance time thinking about breaking up with Solas because distant elf is distant (and in my head canon, she was finding it all too enjoyable to hang out with Cullen, who is the opposite of distant) and then: that damn post-Winter Palace scene where 1) Solas knows she's outside and alone because of course that's where she would go, and 2) she turns down the dance and he snuggles her so sweetly and romantically, she falls head over heels in love with him.

And thus, Lavellan swore revenge to find this baldie and strip him off his clothes.
Oh definitely strip him of his clothes... what happens after though is up for debate ![]()

Hmm, What if it's not Solas took Mythal's power/soul? He was called a Trickster and he seems to have a different agenda from Mythal's. Maybe he tricked her into lowering her guard and he stole it. "But the people need me"
Reading between the lines seems to be important when dealing with Solas, hehe.
If anyone is familiar with Myers-Briggs: I would say he is INTJ, and that makes him so darn attractive. ![]()

Disappointed to hear about no expansion...praying that we get either a very lengthy dlc or Inquisition 2, haha.
I would seriously buy a game about following Solas in the fade at full price...
Same here!

That breakup, though: Dude, if you're going to dump someone, you do not do so with passionate kissing and soulful proclamations of how much they mean to you on a romantic trip out of town. You just do not do that. Same goes for not wanting to pursue a relationship. You know how you do that? You say no. You do not bring up a kiss. You do not initiate more wild kissing and start calling them your heart. Those are jerk moves, buddy. Jerk moves.
He's not particularly good with people, or feelings, or any of it. Though TBH, I would have been infinitely more pissed (and my Lavellan probably would've taken the breakup a lot worse) if he'd just left at the end or done it after defeating Corypheus.
Morrigan's breakup comes at a similar place in DA:O; during the Dark Ritual with the male Warden who romances her, she makes it very clear that the two of you will never see each other again after the Archdemon. Not that she stuck with that. Morrigan I can see being swayed by her feelings. I'm not as sure about Solas, but the way he throws caution to the winds in the early relationship makes me think that on some level, his love for Lavellan can change him. It would have been so much less complicated if he just said no after that first Fade kiss, but he can't even bring himself to do that. He leaves the ball in Lavellan's court, and despite him warning you off, it feels almost token. It certainly doesn't take much to get him to pursue the romance.

I think I can understand why he was weak with Lavellan.

I think we keep getting hung up on him being a trickster god. It seems like he was the god of rebellion but history remembered him wrong and dubbed him a trickster.
Or his is a trickster and he's tricking us by making us think maybe he isn't. God damn it.
If you look at all the stories from North, South, and Central American aboriginal tribes as well as the aboriginal tribes of Asia, Africa, and the South Pacific and Caribbean Islands -- trickster gods=gods of rebellion.. the purpose of the trickster god is to encourage people to question the status quo- it is his (and I say his since most trickster gods are represented as male) job to make people question what they believe - which is the only thing that leads to change for the better. Even Loki's questioning of Odin was not evil- he just want people to not follow Odin's orders blindly since this led to many bloody incidences for the Scandinavian people.. It is kind of forcing people to understand that the easiest solution isn't always the best one in the long term- which is usually represented by the fact that the trickster god screws up massively and spends a couple thousand years trying to fix their mistakes or they are badly punished for it (sound familiar)

I ran out of likes (I really need to stop being so liberal with them...), but I agree. The break up was terrible and not well thought-out on Solas's part. He gives a lot of mixed messages in his romance.
I'm still addicted to Solas too, though.

Hehe. I think how he acts isn't entirely his personality. Geez, how many sinister looks does he have in cut scenes? I think that's what dragged me in, that first calculating look while the people were singing on the way to Skyhold.
I KNOW. When he first looked like that, I was like: "aaaaaaand it's going to end bad." He's definitely putting pieces together - and I just said he isn't a master manipulator! I guess...hm, I'm trying to think how to explain what I'm thinking.
I think he's calculating, and manipulates for the betterment of his plan to fix his mistake. I think he's thinking "maybe they can do it, but I need them on my side. i will give them a big ass fort. bitches love forts."
The fact that he will tell the Inquisitor, especially a non-elven Inquisitor what the orb is, is interesting to me as well. Solas is showing one of his cards, but he can change it from a Jack to an Ace. When Quiz earns his respect, he wants to show what the card really is but for the betterment of himself, the Inquisitor, and his plan, he doesn't.

Agreed. That is why I am confused by those who think Lavellan keeps pursuing him in the face of reluctance. What reluctance, beyond a half second of 'maybe not oh ok smoochsmoochsmoochies'?

If you choose the option for him to stay with you or... you'd like company? Something like that. There's snuggles. That clip horrendously. Solas puts his arm right through Lavellan's torso.

Yes, and it's the sweetest scene. He does it if, after he asks her to dance, she chooses the 'Just keep me company' response.

Has anyone asked Patrick Weekes why Solas's romance arc is so weak in comparison to the other romances? Even Cullen, who was an afterthought like Solas, seems to have a lot more filler than Solas's romance.
I mean like snuggling and kissing breaks and stuff like that. More content.

It's less snuggling and more ripping through her with his arm. ![]()
As for asking Mr. Weekes why the romance has less content, I'm not sure they'd answer that honestly. My guessed answer is they didn't have enough time or they didn't bother because it's kind of a niche romance. One that they probably didn't think would be as popular as it is in superfan circles (I'm sure average players barely touch him).

"Abelas" likes my post lol. I like the idea of Abelas liking Solas' posts on a super secret Ancient Elven Elite Krew forum somewhere in the corner of the internet.

I have been lurking here for a while, but after that I just had to post, I guess.
Though there is some allure to the idea of being this unknown entity liking posts deep from Mythal’s temple. Each time I like a post, you know you are a step closer to the truth!
(sadly, I’m just a melancholic idiot who named her character Abelas WAY before the game was out, and ended up with a very amusing What Pride Has Wrought quest.)
Might as well join the discussion going on in here, there’s a lot of Solas to go around.

YES. I still crack up at the one during the Fade trip where you can say 'Cassandra's like that with everyone' and he laughs, then immediately goes all shifty-eyed as if to say, 'of course, she was right about my duplicity but look over there something shiny let us go to it'.
