I tend to be a serialmancer and I tend to play humans, so my first playthrough had me romancing Cullen as a Trevelyan Circle Mage (which I've wanted to do since DA2). It was sweet and I honestly got everything I wanted out of it but Solas had me curious. I knew he was full of BS the moment I met him and I was genuinely interested in figuring him out, then I hit the end and I just had to do another playthrough to see it. Then my little baby faced Mage Lavellan came along with her stupid scrunchy expressions and puppy dog eyes falling for the Fade nerd with his breathlessly passionate kisses. It wasn't a question, I'm hooked.

 

It's terrible, I keep wanting to do Dalish over and over again and I make terrible elf faces.

I think we are lucky they decide to put in the romance. Imagine if instead, they spent the time showing Solas taking you to explore Fade runes or Solas reading passages from a book to you. That would be so frustrating because I'm sure he'll be cute anyway, but we can't do anything about it.

 

Yeah, we are lucky it got put in at all. That doesn't mean we can't critique it or say it would have been nice for it to have a little more to it.

So I finished my first Solas x Lavellan run through a couple of hours ago. It makes me feel so happy to know there are others just as obsessed with him as I am. The past 5 days, my emotional state has been way too influenced by this game haha. Gosh I have so many emotions. I really, really, really, really hope that they release some DLC that expounds on what happens.

One of my guy friends is playing through right now, and he's telling me how Solas is his permanent bench warmer, he has no interest in having him around at all. I'm waiting to see what he thinks after he beats the game.

 

Until then, its nice to have everyone here on this thread.

I've noticed from watching numerous youtube videos and my own playthrough that certain Lavellan faces seem to evoke more emotion than others. It seems like the smaller and more delicate the face is, the more emotion it is able to express.

True. But, just maybe, it is part of the show, and the best things come to those who wait.

 

Even if it is a dramatic showdown. Imagine, romanced Solas Boss battle... *buckets of tears*

This is what I'm hoping for. It's all I can do to deal with this heartbreak.

My Lavellan definitely does a better job at expressing emotion than my Trevelyan did, her face seems better able to handle more minute gestures. I love Solas' expressions too, I mean when they hit it's just wow. There's some pretty incredible depth there. I haven't gotten tired of looking at the screencaps of his face yet.

Solas is the first elf I started crushing on in Dragon Age.  I was more of an Alistair fangirl until Solas caught my eye...
