I like Zevran and his romance, but in Origins I tend to go for Alistair or Leliana. In DAII there was only ever Fenris for me. I like playing as a mage, he dislikes mages...romances that start out rocky...mmmmmm. I was quite happy that Solas was all "oh so you're Dalish" in this subtly snide little way at first...that and the whole older man thing...

Speaking of the older man thing...how old did everyone envision their Lavellan's?

 

I see mine as in her late 20's.  The age difference didn't really dawn on me until recently tho...

I went with Alistair at first to get the whole 'happily ever after' ending with a human noble.... but after that it's always been Team Zevran. Zev supports you (I'm looking sideways at you, Mr. 'I won't lead but I will attack all your choices' Alistair!), is funny and sensual and falls so deeply in love by the end of the arc. And he's not afraid to propose  (looking at you again, Mr. 'Oh now that you made me king I must dump you and how did we end up engaged?' Alistair!)

 

Went with Anders first. Then he blew up the chantry and all I could think was @#@$ Anders. Team Fenris for the win.

 

Now, in DA:I... first playthrough, Cullen with a human mage, loved that storyline. Beautifully done. Congratulated myself on avoiding Blackwall, oh the irony. All too happily went off to then make an elf and we all know what happens after that. Resistance is futile.

muahahaha I totally convinced my sister to do her first playthrough as a female elf mage romancing Solas. She's seen no story spoilers. I told her it's a great romance that makes story sense and recommended it be her first go. Dear sis, sorry for the feels you're in store for, but it's worth it. It helps that she watched me play through an hour or so of the beginning and she got to experience how wonderfully awesome and sexy his voice is.

So a few pages back (probably way more than a few by now) someone posted a song by Blackmore's Night titled Where Are We Going From Here? for the Solas and Lavellan romance. I just want to say I've never heard of the band before, so I checked it out and she has some really awesome songs! 

 

I also think this one fits their romance (a very depressing fit).

Speaking of the older man thing...how old did everyone envision their Lavellan's?

 

I see mine as in her late 20's.  The age difference didn't really dawn on me until recently tho...

Around mid-twenties, maybe. Which could potentially make Solas about 15 or so years older. Perhaps even old enough to be her father if he's in the upper mid-forties ... I will not say the four letter acronym. I will not say the four letter acronym.

As for how old my Levallan is, I say between 22-26 ish. I imagine her fairly young, but more of an old soul. Since mine is a mage, I like to think she was selected to be her keeper's first around 19 and has been doing her training for at least a few years. 

Not to mention having a greater age difference between her and Solas makes me happy hahahaha Hahren/Da'len shenanigans ensue.

I bet this thread will eventually surpass the Cullen one as more and more hearts are broken the longer the game is out XD  I went in thinking only about Cullen and Iron Bull, but Solas shooed them away with his beautiful words and sass.  I mean DAMN I didn't think he'd be so sassy :3

And for him to wear that godawful hat at the ball... I bet Dorian or Vivienne commented on his bald head blinding the guests so he was like 'kay ugly hat then!  I wish the clipping wasn't so bad in the cuddling scene though because it's really sweet.

 

So here's what we need in a Solas enhancement DLC because, as much as I want a Wolf Hunt DLC too, I'd like some more meat to his romance first:

• Solas reading to Lavellan while snuggling on his couch
• Solas entering Lavellan's dreams when she's having a nightmare
• Solas getting to meet Clan Lavellan
• Bull and Sera bugging Solas about his "performance"
• Just more commentary in general from your companions (always my favorite part)
• Random snuggles

And probably a whole lot more lol  I hate the Weekes for giving me this pain.

For some reason I always end up romancing the elves! I swear I'm not trying to or anything. Wasn't even all that wild about the Dalish until now. But in DAO Alistair was always more of a bro. I did romance him eventually, but I loved how...relaxed Zev was. He took things as they came, and even though there weren't any tortured declarations of love you got the sense that he cared deeply for the Warden, and he always tried to cheer you up. He was also such a troll.

 

I loved Anders in Awakening but in DA2...I dunno. He didn't seem like himself. So I went for Fenris instead, and I ended up liking him a great deal. He supported Hawke in his own way, and I really felt for him.

Sweet mother of...I would...kill...for a scene with Solas reading to you. A book of poetry. In that soft, deep voice, the lilt of his accent curling around a certain word or letter, the poem's rhythm spoken like it is the beat of his own heart....

YES. So much. You know how you can sort of hear the voice in your head when a character is really well voice acted? Imagining Solas reading poetry is amazing. That rhythm he speaks in is hypnotic.

 

I've been wanting to say this for a while jellobell but you have one of the cutest inquisitors I've seen. I really want to cuddle her.

D'awww, thank you so much!   I love how she turned out, and the player characters in Inquisition get to be so wonderfully expressive. It's really made her more of a person to me. I just got so attached to her.

 

I've noticed from watching numerous youtube videos and my own playthrough that certain Lavellan faces seem to evoke more emotion than others. It seems like the smaller and more delicate the face is, the more emotion it is able to express.

Hmmm, I haven't watched a ton of videos with other Inquisitors, but I'm really pleased with how expressive mine is. I even took a video of Solas's first kiss scene (I couldn't help it, I wanted to be able to re-watch it). And my heart melted at that hopeful expression she makes when she repeats his "felt the whole world change" back to him. It made her seem so much more alive.

Just look at those puppy-dog eyes. Though my favourite part is after that first long kiss when he takes a step back and she's left blinking in a half-dip. Where did all of that passion come from all of a sudden? 

 

I love Solas' expressions too, I mean when they hit it's just wow. There's some pretty incredible depth there. I haven't gotten tired of looking at the screencaps of his face yet. 

Yessss. His face is so mobile, and his eyes are so incredibly kind. Doesn't look like Nicholas Cage at all.

I am honestly not sure on my Lavellan. I want to say she's in her thirties, maybe 32-35. But then it might be unusual for her to still be second in command to the keeper and unmarried. So maybe she's only 25.

Mine is 24...26 at most. She has a pretty naive outlook on the world, too. I even gave her some kind of 'babyface' - round shape, big eyes and ears, stubby but a little snobbish looking nose and thick red-to-yellow make up. She's my avatar. xD But yeah, a very young hero for Dragon Age standards.

She thinks about the age gap a lot, at least in my headcanon. But she also tends to not always take Solas seriously. She's kind of a snobbish child. Taleyah is one that loves to learn things but is terrible at concentrating for a long time and I wanted to show that through her looks.

I intended to make my Lavellan late 20s, but after the character creation... there is no way she is older than 25, and when I picture her with her hair down (she has it in a bun) I can imagine she looks even younger.

I envisioned mine fairly young, around 23 or so.  She acts younger than, say, my Shepard; she's sweet and irrepressibly curious and literally doesn't have a mean bone in her body.  Probably the nicest PC I've ever made.  She's probably been a scout for Clan Lavellan for at least a few years at this point, but she's still unmarried and kind of a loner.

 

She's pretty inexperienced too; never been in love before, never slept with anyone before.  Then the stupid pajama elf turns up and it's all the feels forever.

nah my Lavellan is in her early 20s, she's really naive and the last scene with Solas practically broke her (sobs).

But since this was my second playthrough, I knew all about Solas and so the age gap didn't bug me much

I admit I was a big fan of both zevran and fenris. I guess I have a thing for elven men. Though I have really like cullen in inquisition now and fine him attractive.

I picture my solas romanced inquisitor to be 30 to early 30's.

My character is in her 30's and I roleplay that she would have taken over as Keeper soon- but since her clan gets wiped out... I can't take a young character seriously, and Dalish probably have a bit longer lifespan so that's still quite young.

 

As for previous romances, my favorite in Origins is elf mage x Alistair, and in DA2 I only romanced Fenris.

Why do you say a young hero for Dragon Age standards. I'd say almost all the Origins heroes are really young. Amell, Tabris, and Surana are all (I'd say) younger than 20.

My Lavellan is 24,she's the Keeper's first and rather mature for her age.She's been treated as a pariah in her clan for being somehow unusual.Seriously, the headcanons I had for her even before the game was shipped are screaming Solasmance.
