Off-topic. I'm going through all the Solas scenes in the game searching for clues, and noticed something that I found strange in the mage-quest. Video with relevant dialogue in spoiler tags:

Spoiler

So....why does he say "them" and not "we" or "us"? Is it just me, or does it sound like he's not only not including himself, but not including the other trapped companions. And he doesn't say "save the world". Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it sounds like he's talking about a specific group of "them".

I think he just means everyone isn't him because he sees himself as dead already. Seeing him infected like that makes me sad. =( Also, does anyone here like the non-default voice? It sounds dull and emotionless in every video I've seen.

Just curious, but does it say anywhere how the Dalish decide which god's tattoo they will receive?  Does the elf decide themselves or is it based off of anything else?  I wonder if there is a Fen'Harel tattoo.

Could someone who has finished the game tell me if Abelas or any of his guardians show up at Skyhold?

I can see Lavellan turning to him to satiate her lust for... ancient elven lore after Solas leaves.  I know it's heresy in this thread, but I do find him physically more attractive than Solas.  (And I'll show myself out.)

I don't think Abelas or any of his kin actually show up at Skyhold. I saw an elf hanging out wearing the ancient elven armor, and I haven't even done the Crestwood or Winter Palace quests with that Inquisitor yet. I was like, "Jeeze, that armor's showing up a little early this time."

Is it just me or does Clan Lavellan seem to have some monumentally bad luck? I'm inclined to believe it's like a Clan trait and considering the wartable quests, I think it magnifies when they are in a large group.

The Dalish in general are cursed, apparently, and prone to being massacred :? .

I can kind of see my Lavellan returning to her clan to tell them what she's learned and share the knowledge she's gathered about everything but only after matters with the Inquisiton has settled or on brief journeys.

(I have this headcanon that she started writing things down such as the bits of the Qun she learned from Iron Bull, the Chantry from Cassandra and the fade-elven things from Solas but it was lost when Haven burned and buried)

It might not go well but I can see her trying since it's what a Keeper does and she believes a harsh truth is better than a comfortable lie.

This thread really is moving at a quick pace, not that I mind :D

I think she might visit them from time to time, but I can't picture her staying after all the adventures she has had in the world. But that's how I imagine Lavellan, a rebel and free-spirit much like Solas except without his pride.

I can't see my Lavellan returning to her clan, but that's mostly because I made the mistake of letting Cullen take his forces to them. She might run back to explain and ask forgiveness one time but after her people being ordered by her to go out and causing deaths, even unintentional, she wouldn't be able to just merge back into life with them. But that's because I make poor choices without presaves and then feel guilty. haha I like to imagine other Lavellans going back with all their knowledge and such and trying to help better their people.

I will say, although I hate the period of not knowing, I absolutely love hearing all the various theories and conspiracies people come up with. Following a character is never quite so exciting when everything is already apparent.

Did anyone else find it somewhat amusing that Lavellan, a Dalish elf, knew enough about Varric's book "Tale of the Champion" to ask him so many questions about it? I got this adorable image of a clan passing around a well-worn copy  and asking Lavellan to send along copies of his serials much to their storyteller's displeasure (though he secretly reads them too)

I'm wondering if the whole "we warred against ourselves" statement Abelas was in reference to the war between the Elven Pantheon and the Forgotten Ones? Solas mentions after the Well of Sorrows that no group has ever willingly given up power once they've gained it, maybe that was the case in Arthalan where the Pantheon turned from being a benevolent group of individuals with godlike power to being tyrants who fought amongst themselves.

I'm thinking he is referring to the time when, after Dread Wolf sealed away the elvhen "gods", instead of gaining freedom for the elvhen slaves, they turned on the dreamer mages and killed them in their sleep/uthenera, thus killing their own kind.

I theorize that the Dalish are the remainder of those slave elvhen who killed the dreamers, and their "we shall never submit to slavery again" is a double entendre. But who knows! Good points.

Here's some reference from dragon age wiki:

"It appears possible as well that Dreamer mages comprised the top of ancient elven society, and that this may have created some resentment among the lower classes, particular as the empire fell and Dreamers were perhaps seen as failing to help. Some Dreamers have been discovered to have been murdered while in Uthenera"

Gee, this thread, you guys.. I could never write down my thoughts as well as you all can, but I enjoy reading yours very much, they make so much sense. And as usual I'm out of likes, I guess that's what you get when a thread goes 10 pages per hour..  And oh my god they were holding hands during the last scene too!? *gross sobbing*

It'd be even better if they'd also read "Swords & Shields," and part of the reason Lavellan makes fun of Cassandra is to deflect from her own guilty pleasure.

(to zambixi) She's secretly stealing it from underneath Cassandra's pillow every night with the bard performing the "Mission Impossible"-theme in the background while hoping Cassandra finally stopped sleeping with her sword next to her.

There doesn't seem to be vallaslin of the Dread Wolf, but among the Dalish, it's a religious ceremony to receive the vallaslin. I would wager that the Dalish in question decides on their own vallaslin. What little is known is gained from Keeper Gisharel of Clan Ralaferin: "The ritual deserves great reverence. The one who is to gain the vallaslin must prepare by meditating on the gods and the ways of our people, and by purifying the body and the skin. When the time comes, the keeper of the clan applies the blood writing. This is done in complete silence. Cries of pain are signs of weakness. If one cannot tolerate the pain of the blood writing, they are not ready to undertake the responsibilities of an adult. The keeper may stop the ritual if they decide that the one gaining the vallaslin is not ready."

I hit my first like quota guys! But I like this. If Cassandra still sleeps with her sword maybe Cole can get the book for her

Hello, I've been lurking for a bit but I wanted to add my two cents.  I also have no idea how to do spoilers.  Please forgive me and teach me your wizarding ways.

--  Spoilers, and such

I would really love to hear your guys' opinions on red lyrium versus blue.  I mean it is very clearly connected to the blights.  Everyone, for the past three games, has been talking about the "song" and comparing it to magic.  Also the blights did not occur until the Magisters messed it all up to hell and that was after the Elvhen gods were tucked into the mirror.  I would very very much like to know when lyrium (the regular old blue kind) came into the picture.

Because if the Black City is not the seat of the Maker but a world held apart from our own and (I am speculating heavily)  where Fen'Harel hid the old gods, then is it possible that the red lyrium is a sign the bonds are breaking.  That the Black City is leaking into Thedas.  Solas mentions quite a few times that spirits get corrupted when forced through the veil.  Could the red lyrium be the same thing?  Only instead of a simple spirit it's something older and more powerful.

I mention this because that might imply that Fen'harel is possibly (or more probably directly) responsible for the Blights and the red lyrium and half of the magical mess Thedas is in.  It would also explain his insistence that slaying the Archdemons is not helping the Blights.  What if the Old Gods do not equal the Archdemons and instead are corrupted spirits forced through the veil-like prison.  That maybe the problem that Fen'harel is trying to solve.  Whether or not he made the prison it seems fairly likely that he utilized it and now it is failing.

Now if all of my wild speculating is even partially true (and as I have not completed every tiny quest in the game that might hold a snippet of the answer, I could simply be talking out of my butt.), but if it is true then maybe what Fen'harel is so scared of is that he cannot fix this himself.  He needs the Elvhen gods.  He needs their power to rectify his mistake in thinking that locking up powerful beings would solve everything.  Of course that is when his pride comes into the picture.  So will he steal the power or will he awaken his brothers and which is the best solution?

Btw I love you guys and you are all my best friends.  I was so distraught about Solas on my first playthrough that I rushed through to the ending as I could not bear the heartache.  I almost couldn't play the game again, but *sigh* here I am doing it all over again.  I have narrowed down the point when my heart falls for Solas and it is that first laugh "Is that a serious question?" when talking to Varric.  I giggle and sigh every single time and romance the bastard.  I'm honestly so incredibly scared that Solas is not the Dread Wolf, but is instead the best written Pride Demon I have ever seen.  I mean let us not pretend that that is not possible.
