Does anyone know if OGB has different dialogue for non-Lavellan Inquisitors? When every Inquisitor gets the same dialogue, it kind of loses any special meaning it might have to specific Inquisitors, imo. It's kinda like how Cole says every Inquisitor is bright, but what he says right after that line is unique (with my Qunari, he essentially mentioned sensing rage that was barely held in check). If every Inquisitor gets the

comment from OGB, it kinda throws out a lot of the theories forming in my head.

Gah, it can be confusing trying to put things together when the main character can be so many different things. lol

The Dalish in general are cursed, apparently, and prone to being massacred :? .

True, but Clan Lavellan can also benefit quite a bit with the right choices.

Completely off topic, but I'm glad Istimaethoriel seems to be a last name and Deshanna her first. Cause when talking to Viv Lavellan called her Keeper Deshanna. And I was so happy because I can pronounce Deshanna and spell it without having to look it up. I did spell it right, didn't I? ****.

Hello, I've been lurking for a bit but I wanted to add my two cents.  I also have no idea how to do spoilers.  Please forgive me and teach me your wizarding ways.

Flemeth also has access to some really weird magic.  There's been some speculation that the night when Maric spoke to her in The Stolen Throne, was the night Morrigan was conceived.  And yes, that means Alistair and Morrigan are half-siblings, if true.  It also means that Kieran would be rather... in-bred, if Alistair is the father and not the Warden or Loghain.  But bear in mind that if Morrigan can use magic to make herself fertile, it's likely Flemeth is able to do so as well.  And, twenty years (which is how old Morrigan is when we first meet her) is a long time.  If Flemeth were in her late 30s or early 40s when Morrigan were conceived, she'd obviously look a whole lot older 20 years later, nevermind 30+ years--Morrigan is now most likely in her 30s.

Morrigan... Morgan le Fay, King Arthur, and Mordred.

The name Kieran apparently comes from Ciarán.  Here's the first search result that popped up for me:  Ciarán (Irish) or Ciaran (Scottish) is a Gaelic male given name meaning "little dark one" or "blacky", produced by appending a diminutive suffix to ciar ("black", "dark").

I was so distraught about Solas on my first playthrough that I rushed through to the ending as I could not bear the heartache.  I almost couldn't play the game again, but *sigh* here I am doing it all over again.  I have narrowed down the point when my heart falls for Solas and it is that first laugh "Is that a serious question?" when talking to Varric.  I giggle and sigh every single time and romance the bastard.

Ahhh so I'm not the only one!  I intended for my first play through to be my completionist run.  But that last romance scene killed me, I right away started the end game stuff. Was like ripping off a bandaid.  Had to end it.

So funny it was that EXACT SAME moment for me, that Solas wooed my Lavellan.  Did you read my mind or something! :P

@slmsfit

Yeah I did that quest and I definitely found it intriguing especially since I think that was the one that confirmed how Cory-penis escaped death at Hawke's hands.  (Like we have all been speculating about for years now.)  But yeah Lyrium has been called a song and such for while and I like that.  I especially like how it has been suggested more fervently in this game that lyrium is not benevolent and should not be used.  For that reason none of my mages have partaken in Lyrium in Inquisition.

I feel like I recall someone (maybe in Origins) talking about lyrium as the bones of old gods.  I feel like it was a throwaway codex or something and meant to be poetic versus literal, but it raises an interesting point.

There are just so many questions.  Like if the mirror is a gateway to another world like Morrigan said.  I think she called it another "in between place", then what happens if it is warped?  Could that have been the problem Fen'harel did not foresee?

Also, a little while ago you guys were talking about what is different about the Inquisitor and what is Solas referring to when he mentions it.  Personally, I truly feel as though we were creating a legend and hero in this game more than in any of the others.  Like it was more than respect and admiration your Inquisitor gains throughout the game.  It was even more than just simple power.  The Inquisitor gained the fervent veneration of the people of Thedas.  When Solas thinks that the Inquisitor is "real, then they could all be real."  Perhaps he is referencing that the Inquisitor has reached a pre-godlike status.  Like the circumstances surrounding her /or him was similar to how the old elvhen gods became "real".  After all there is so much myth and legend surrounding the elvhen that Solas is constantly poking holes in.

"It all comes down to people."

I'm not saying that the Inquisitor is immortal now or anything, but I think there is a comparison there to divinity.  If the people decide you are divine, then you might as well be a god.  It would also explain why there is such a dramatic difference in whether or not you have Solas approval in how he speaks to you.  Either he hates you, like really fraking hates you or he is almost swept up in the marvelous treasure that the Inquisitor is.

I could gush over that dumb character for hours.  Or more likely days and weeks.  I just ... he is so well written and intriguing.  I am not one of those fan girls that flock to demigods or powerful characters.  Usually they are trite and tiresome.  But Solas is just so commanding and perfect.  Like I literally cannot stop falling for that dumb elf.  Every single thing he says I'm like, "Oh yes, I love that too!  I believe everything you do!  Let's tear down the sky and bring the world to ruin together!"

Honestly, that terrifies me.  Like how did they write such a manipulating character?  That me, as a person, not an avatar or character is swayed by the opinions of an npc?  I am so scared that he is not the anti-hero we hope and pray that he is.  I mean I'm scared, but deliciously scared.  Like I'm some kind of masochist that wants him to leave my poor Lavellan ruined, because she literally fell for the bad guy.

I still need to just read every single codex entry I can find when I have the time again, to build a “Grand Theory of Everything”, however:

I am your humble servant and await your grand theory.  I'm working through my completionist playthrough currently and would love to theory craft with you.  I have a disease and it's name is Dragon Age.

The thing about Lyrium being "alive" bothers me though.  What does alive mean?  Does it mean that is an entity or that it acts with a purpose?  Because if it is Old Gods bleeding through then that could mean the "alive" / "song" / "magic" aspect that all lyrium has.

Just curious, but does it say anywhere how the Dalish decide which god's tattoo they will receive?  Does the elf decide themselves or is it based off of anything else?  I wonder if there is a Fen'Harel tattoo.

I think Merrill talks about it a bit in DA2, If I remember correctly individuals choose what god to "worship"

That's interesting.  I've never played the FF games, but I can see how this fits.  My first ideas about lyrium were similar -- I think it is the divine force of creation.  There are no gods in Thedas, the lyrium is "God", but in a divine and expansive mystery sort of way.  Bah, I'm rambling.

Ahem. What I meant to say is if that's true, it's creepy as fcuk. Lyrium is people. Lyrium is like the Wall of the Faithless (any MotB fans in here?) continuously absorbing and contorting souls until there's nothing left of them but echoes of agony...

So after finishing my second playthrough with a Solas romance, I can certainly see why his character has so many fans.  ^_^

Not that I did not like his character before, but that final romance scene was great.

This thread is definitely a support group.  :)

I think the cycle goes:  Shock -> Anger -> Bitterness -> Frustration -> Hope

Then I think it kind of turns into a weird Hope/Fear amalgam that is quite uncomfortable.

It's funny, I've come to actually enoy the American voice when roleplaying an ex-City Elf Dalish. The game doesn't give you a lot on that front when it comes to roleplay, but it's a great way to get the City Elf in even if they don't have the background. Solas Romance of course.

Also, if anyone's wondering, the way to cross-class armor is by crafting it with Silverite. Silverite will remove most clas restritions (but won't allow non-Dalish to wear Dalish armor. Sorry, Sera. )
