I don't know why but when I saw Sola's Tarot card I instantly thought Prometheus due to him having a flame. Now that I beat the game I can kinda see some similarities between both. Fen harel was accepted by 2 sets of gods, kinda same with Prometheus (is a titan but helped olympic gods)

Both bring forbidden knowledge to "mortals" funny thing: Sola's taught me veilfire in a quest at the hinterlands helping a Dalish mage

Cole is a spirit. It might be different coming from actual people.

Yes, Cole is a spirit, and Solas respects and likes spirits better than he does most mortals.  Cole is a spirit of compassion; if anyone could help Solas via compassion, it would definitely be Cole.

If action is what is needed to help Solas, then I don't know if anyone can help him, because the action he wants to take, if we have guessed correctly, is far too dangerous.

Maybe, Solas does relate more to spirits.

Oh, I forget how broken he is at the end of the game.  Gods, if he isn't playing the long con, then I really really hope we can help him somehow.  I don't know if my heart can bear another Anders.

We'll see. I don't want them to turn him into a pitiful crazy character.

I highly doubt it'll come to that. He isn't crazy, but it's been established that he's under some sort of crushing weight. What exactly that is has not been revealed. He's a melancholy character who hides it extremely well.

But I do think that they need to handle him carefully. Honestly? I hope he doesn't become a villain. Even a "well-intentioned extremist" kind of villain. I still remember what happened to Anders between Awakening and DA2. I really don't want that to happen with Solas.

Yes, but spirits are predictable. People might have more interesting things to say to him that might have an impact. I think Solas needs to learn how to have self-compassion, but that is usually learned when others express compassion for you. He also needs to learn the strengths of being a person and not put spirits on pedestals all the time.

Finished the story tonight, loved Solas as a close friend and fellow admirer of history and culture to my Inquisitor. Took him with me pretty often and was constantly getting the sense he was going to prove more important than it maybe seemed.

Didn't expect that, though.

My thoughts and condolences to all Solas-mancers, that must have been crazy. In some ways Inquisition feels like a new beginning despite capping off a few series-spanning arcs... this Solas revelation thing is the shining example of that. I can't wait to see what happens next. Still floored.

Thanks for the condolences.  We've got fountains of tears and crazy speculation about Solas both going strong right now  :)

Crazy, huh? :P

My friend (who finished first and knew I was romancing Solas) sent me a message right after. Something to the effect of, "So how'd you like ****** a god? ;)"

I concur! :(  I don't want another Anders... But I also don't want him to end up worse than Anders, either.  At least Anders still loves you at the end.  If Solas attacks me... I'll probably just let him win. Heh.  I couldn't play it out.

I want Solas to have a plan that's good enough to make me want to follow him on principle, but also extreme enough to make me hesitate. I don't want it to be that the only reason why I will follow him is due to love.

The phrasing was, "Someone I deeply cared for," I think.  Yes, he did use past tense, though.

I think he's lying about the past tense, or Cole wouldn't even be involved.  Solas is hurting, the Inquisitor is hurting, and Cole is desperately trying to help.

I want to be able to convince him to call it off (something we never got the chance to do with Anders).

Though, crazy thought, what if he doesn't plan on shredding the veil/bringing the old gods back/ending the world? What if he knows they're coming back on their own and he needs his powers in order to fight against them once more?

Omg they have to put this in the game. Guarded Solas reveals all his cards through Cole. I want to hear his dirty thoughts lmao.

Oh lordy, reminds me of the cut-scene with Cole in Val Royeaux where he gave that random guy love advice about using "restraints" in bed hahahaha. I'm inspired.

Then my Lavellan will find him, yell at him for being such a stupid doof, and hop right on board with the full might of the Inquisition  :D  It'll take a while for her to get to the point where she can personally trust him again, but she's got no problem defending him if his goals align with hers.

I also want him to have some semblance of an actual plan.  I'm just scared.

I really hope his plan involves fixing the veil.  Something is wrong with it.  I don't know what, but it's clearly jacked up.  I'm sure Solas has some ideas.

There's also the scary possibility that the eventual "fix" might make the veil a wall or a fixture.  Which would stop the demon problems, but would also stop the magic.  I'm trying to decide if that was possible would Solas do it.  I mean it would protect the spirits if they could not pass into the world.

I think it's pretty safe to say that he'd rather tear down the veil than make it impenetrable. No more access to the Fade means no more dreams, after all. He'd probably find the very idea horrifying.

Yeah, but he's all about sacrifices and I'm pretty sure he be on the other side of the veil.  I can't shake that feeling that every fantasy plot will inevitably end with magic being lost.

heehee ... yes.  Yes, a million times yes.  That bastard knew what he was doing to Lavellan.

Omg, IT Crowd crossover with Solas.

I might have missed something (I always do), but I felt like it was more Solas telling Cole he couldn't help in his typical way. That he couldn't just make Solas feel better with some nice words and anti-guilt logic, because I think Solas wants to suffer. I think he feels he must pay the price, just like Blackwall wanted to pay his price, or Ser Ruth wanted to pay hers. Also, he could be going even further and asking not to forget, if its even possible for Cole to make him forget, since I know he mentions that certain people (the Inquisitor) don't seem to forget him. I'm curious if there's an amount of will that can allow people to stop forgetting or if Cole just hadn't put any effort into Quizzy and Co. I do agree that Cole would have a strong impact on Solas, but I do think Solas will have to forgive himself before he'll allow anyone else, including Quizzy, to try and cheer him up.

I think this is a good point to keep in mind.

Even though, throughout the game, Solas appears to be polite and rational and well-put-together, in the final scene with Flemeth he looks utterly broken. We already know he blames himself for whatever he did in the past (and perhaps by extension the current state of the world). But he also blames himself for the entire problem that kicks off the plot of Inquisition. It was his orb that Cory used to open the breach, his fault that Cory had it, his fault all of those people were killed, and his fault every time a spirit was sucked through a rift, turned into a demon, and tried to take a chunk out of the Inquisitor. I think the guy was barely holding it together during the game.

Watch him walking away from Lavellan after the break up. It broke him.

The only correct answer to that question is, "It was divine."

Edit:  Scratch that.  You could also say "It was a religious experience."
