During the post-singing scene he's confused about how Corypheus survived and he has a line of dialogue at Skyhold about being surprised a Tevinter magister could even use the orb to it's full extent. It may be that he didn't think Corypheus would be able to use it or that it would kill Corypheus if he did. There are definitely parallels between Solas and Corypheus though - both how they woke up to a world gone 'wrong' and their attempts to 'fix' it.

Cory died off (or kill him) then take the orb back and finish what he started. He was just too weak to do it alone after waking up. He is also surprised how the Inquisitor survives and is able to use the anchor. So maybe he was conflicted about using the Inquisitor the same way.

I loved the Solas Ark! And after the end game scene I felt like Sally's song in 'a nightmare before Christmas' summed up their relationship really well, and my trepidation for their future.

What cheers me up though, is that in my headcanon, Lavellan made good friends with Cassandra. So after Lavellan does a "girl talk with box of chocolates" with Cass about the breakup, Cassandra storms into Solas' study.

"SOLAS! I've got a message for you!" *Cass slaps Solas in the face, leaving a red, glowing palm print in his face* 

"What was that for, Seeker?"

"Never hurt the inquisitor like that again. Next time I will not be so gentle." *Cass storms out of the door*

I agree, I'm honestly surprised that both were afterthoughts. It just doesn't feel like it fits as perfectly with my human character, but then again it could just be because I'm still wrapped up in my Solas obsession and a little biased.

 

Yea, I'm so glad they added the ability to play as an elf, and Solas's romance. And that I happened to do both on my first playthrough. Seems like the best way to play (not that I've completed any other playthroughs), and one that can't be duplicated after you know everything.

I agree, having a hard time pushing myself to finish another playthrough to romance Cullen. I actually picked Lavellan again this time around and I am honestly having the hardest time not flirting with Solas and picking him as my romance option. What is wrong with me...

Same.  I like my Adaar; he's an awesomely chill dude, and it makes for a nice change of pace from the drama of the Solasmance.  But it just doesn't feel as tied into the story, so I'm just sort of picking at that second playthrough.

 

I don't think I'm even going to get to the Cullenmance.  I have this thing about voiced PCs; I can only really play one PC per voice, and I've already used Alix's for my elf.  While I love Sumalee's voice, it just sounds weird to me coming out of the human Inquisitor.

That's interesting, I had a Dalish Knight Enchanter, and he never said anything about it. But she wasn't a Chantry fan, so maybe that had something to do with it.

I had a dalish KE too, I wish I had the option when Vivienne for example mentions it to just be like, ****** please, I am an arcane warrior, thank you very much.

So I made another Dalish, a male to romance Dorian, and it's actually helped get me out of my "I'm not playing any more so NYAH!" pouty funk. I've never played through as a male PC in any game, could never get into it, but I like Dorian enough and playing as a guy is "not me" enough that I can sort of bury my Solas feels (beyond the 24 hour stalking of this thread/tumblr). I've even managed to speak to him in this game! My human has been avoiding him completely, haha.

I don't know. I wouldn't trade my first Cullen x Trevelyan playthrough for anything. It's a romance I know I'll do again (though I'll have to play human to do it) because it just *sigh*. My female elves never go for anyone other than elves and Sera is like a little sister to me so it's Solas for life. I need to romance Cassandra, but after this... I'm just sorta eh. It's like playing a Cousland, they always just feel more connected to the narrative. I like playing the other races, but I have difficulty completing those playthroughs. The only reason I finally managed an Amell run was to see if Culen gets any extra dialogue.

I think the thing that bugs me the most about this series is that the title subtext seems to be:

 

Dragon Age

In Which the Elves are Subjugated Again because they Really Screwed Up a Thousand Years Ago

 

I don't think Mr. Weekes hates elves, but I think Mr. Gaider definitely does.  I hope that the way the setting develops is not tied to his prejudices.

 

I would fully support Thedas being splintered into three factions, as in Dark Age of Camelot.  That game is almost 15 years old and it remains one of my favorites ever.  It could be elf, human, and qunari factions.  I think dwarves would go with the elves because I think there's a strong tie there that hasn't yet been explored.

I'm gonna get back into my female human rogue romancing Cullen, now that I've run out of quests in my Lavellan playthrough. I just find to get into it, I really have to commit to roleplaying my character.

She's a really devout Andrastian, who believes she actually is the herald. Which means Solas hates almost everything that comes out of my mouth, and I had to not recruit Cole. These things hurt me. I literally had to stop playing after the Cole thing. But I'm hoping Cullen will make it all worth it.

It's funny reading how Solas ditching at the end gutted some people, whilst for me (who romanced Iron Bull first) as soon as I saw the reveal I could not start up a new game fast enough.  I love this romance - so much open-ended potential for fanfics, even if we never get any additional content (which we will).

 

I've played my fElf playthrough up until the Arbor Wilds mission but I've been debating whether to proceed towards the end or wait until a patch to see if they fix his quest.  I'm down for trying a Cullen 'mance and I will definitely do Dorian, but Solas has blown all competition out of the water as far as my preferred options go.  It's probably a good thing that he's elf-only as it makes it easier to avoid getting sucked back in, haha.

I made a human Trevelyan rogue in order to NOT romance Solas again. I even had my boyfriend help me make her face so she looks like me. I am trying to play her but it's difficult. Solas isn't even an option and I'm like, WHAT IS THE POINT?

 

I then made a human dude Trevelyan warrior to romance Dorian (hopefully, or Cass. I love Cass. I love Dorian. This is going to be difficult). My human dude's attractiveness level is super high (so that helps distract me) and I picked the American Jon Curry voice (he voiced Zevran and I just love his voice!) and I am slowly but surely getting over the sad funk too! I have spoken to our favorite egghead a few times, but it has been very brief and purely academic.

I need to find the time to go to the shrine of sylaise and get these robes. I keep seeing screenshots, and Solas looks so regal in them.

 

 

And you can even see a  sliver of bare chest. 

 

 

It's really weird seeing him in anything other than hobo gear, though. I imagine Viv and Dorian being utterly flabbergasted the first time they see him in this stuff. Perhaps this is similar to the clothing he wore back in ancient Arlathan.
