Well I hadn't seen this one before! Banter between Solas and Vivienne on pride... Haha.
I didn't know this was done on purpose? I thought I was imagining this, hahaha.
But yes, I did notice Solas' tendency to hit me with a barrier even when he could have envoped the entire rest of the team instead, all the time. It was nice
I headcannon Solas as an incredibly overprotective boyfriend for that very reason! Not nearly as overprotective as Fenris though. ![]()
Solas is intelligent. He knows that the Inquisitor is the only one who can stop Corypheus and close the Breach. If they die, they can't stop him. For all that he'll sacrifice important pieces, the Inquisitor sacrificing themselves for Haven is noble but a pointless exercise in futility. That's why he disapproves because he values intelligence and offering to make a short term play that will inevitably doom everyone is an incredibly boneheaded move.
I like to think it's because he has feelings for the Inquizzy and doesn't want to see her die though.
Hahaha, sometimes I keep my denial close to my heart. lol
I have to agree though--one of the reasons he gives you approval for asking him a load of questions is because he values your willingness to learn. He also mentions a few times things like "it matters that you thought to ask," or when you're talking about the Dalish, etc.
@nightwolf--did you flirt with Zev in DA2? If I'm not mistaken, for me it happened after Fenris had always left Hawke, and he still got all "don't even think about it" with Zev. Now I want to replay DA2 again... get a fairly okay ending with the two, at least... if I play my cards right in Inquisition.
Solas's barrier-fu was great! He always took care of Cari when she needed it. And, in turn, Cari would always hook up her rogue first since she's also a barrier queen as a Knight Enchanter. The poor warrior was left to fend for themselves with guard. ![]()
And kind of an opposite of above, I headcanon that my Inquisitor is an overprotective girlfriend! She's constantly checking up on him even though he, as we find out later, is a much more powerful mage and an immortal being. Heck, she'd probably still do that stuff if she knew he was Fen'Harel!
Also, urrrrrgh I want one of those shirts so baaaaaad but I have such a hard time justifying buying stuff like that to myself. I have almost no video game merch except for a little figure of Garrus.
The only Bioware shirts I have are from when they had that raffle back in...2009? I won a pack of six Dragon Age shirts. Such thin material, two or three of them have small holes throughout, while one of them has a huge one on the side. The others have held up fairly well. I wonder if the quality has gotten any better since.
I have the Inquisitor Helmet shirt - it's very soft and comfortable. It was going to be for daily ware, but it turned into my nightshirt. XD I've had it for...five months now? No wear so far!
Edit: Also, during this quest Solas will disapprove if:
Spoiler
He might consider the sort of action to be short-sighted, and subsequently disapprove?
But I also like to think the meaning changes a bit with an Inquisitor he approves of, even if that's not how it works with the game mechanics.
Edit: Whoops, too late. Nightwolf667 said it better, anyway.

The first time I fell in combat I heard this heart-rending "NOOOOOO!" from Solas that made me jump. It was unexpected since I wasn't even that far into the romance yet.
This reminds me in Da:o and DA 2 your LI would be trying to "protect" you during combat. I didnt get that feeling in DA:I or maybe I didnt notice.
Solas totally does this. At one point he jumped on the scaffolding with his back to her to fend off attackers. As a player, I was like, no, damn it, you are not a MELEE FIGHTER. But it was too adorable to correct. Other fights, there's Cassandra and Sera getting creamed while he keeps casting barrier on his Lavellan, who was a mix of consternation at his poor tactical decisions and amusement that he thought she needed the extra shielding. And I swear at one point during Adamant she got knocked down... and he helped her up. Was I hallucinating? Has anyone else seen that?

Interesting that he hopes you would understand in time. Maybe there is a part of him that hopes they can reconnect later.

Yeah... my Inquizzy is accident prone.
He over compensates with the barrier for good reason. She recklessly launches herself into battle full throttle with sword swinging. I know I've posted these before, but it got so bad I actually wrote headcannon banter for it because... yeah. ![]()

Oh my god, yes! I liked going down didn't mind going down (at times) because of his reactions! I loved them so much.
Also when Varric goes down, I think Cass sounds pretty torn, too... Guilt, maybe? It's sweet.

Now I'm tempted to let all my Inquisitors die while their LI's are in the party so I can hear what they say. lolol
So, having finished the game...

And now I really have to play a dual wield rogue just so I know what my companions sound like when I die.
So, Tielis, Mark Bazeley is on the IMDB page for DAI. I know we can't always trust IMDB, but...
If I was a bird I would tweet a question to the VA person about Abelas's voice, but alas I am not a bird.
Edit: Oh, is his voice listed in the credits? I haven't actually gotten to the credits yet.
I haven't gotten to the credits, either, but he's usually credited with "other voices" in every Dragon Age game, it seems.

Not necessarily. There are a lot of ways to interpret that scene. There's also the Cole dialogue after the credits where Solas communicates with him. I think that shows that he is still there in some way, shape, or form.
That is top notch banter, it really is.Yeah... my Inquizzy is accident prone.

Snagging it in a small for men - that way I can use it as a sleep-shirt which is rather appropriate, actually, considering the subject.
Yea, I think I'll probably grab the men's small as well. I don't usually use t-shirts like that for anything but working out or sleeping in, so it works better.

Look at his mural after the end. The dragon is slain while the wolf towers over it.

My Lavellan is completely incapable of casting barrier on herself. Defensive magic is for party members! I just blow **** up!
