Yeah... my Inquizzy is accident prone.   He over compensates with the barrier for good reason. She recklessly launches herself into battle full throttle with sword swinging. I know I've posted these before, but it got so bad I actually wrote headcannon banter for it because... yeah.

Blackwall: In that last fight, I, uh, noticed that you've got a preference for dropping a barrier around Lavellan first.

Solas: She is our Inquisitor, is she not? The one most deserving of protection?

Blackwall: It's just... she's a mage.

Solas: A fine one.

Blackwall: Right, and she's more than capable of casting barrier herself.

Varric: He's got a point, Chuckles.

Blackwall: I'm not saying stop. I'm just asking for it to be spread around a little more.

Varric: Preferably before one of us gets skewered.

Lavellan: I appreciate the gesture, Hahren, but I could do with a few less coming my way.

Solas: I will consider it.'


Solas: Da'len?

Lavellan: Yes, Hahren?

Solas: We need to discuss your use of fade step.

Lavellan: Now? We're a little busy.

Solas: It is not pressing. I can wait until our return to Skyhold.

Lavellan: Oh... what's wrong with my fade step?

Solas: Nothing! Your control is masterful, your timing impeccable, I merely...

Lavellan: What?

Solas: Would prefer it if next time you looked before you leaped.

Lavellan: I don't fall off that many cliffs.

Solas: Only four by my last count.

Varric: So that's why you keep hitting her with barrier!


Lavellan: Solas?
Solas: Yes, Venhan?

Lavellan: I was thinking that you're expending a lot of energy. Maybe you could save those extra barriers?

Solas: Perhaps if you did not leap so eagerly into the fray, I would not feel so compelled to assist you.

Varric: Give Chuckles a break, Inquisitor. He's just worried you'll run off a cliff chasing after those rams.

Solas: It is not like it has not happened before. Repeatedly.

Lavellan: And here I thought you enjoyed patching me up.

Solas: (silence)

Varric: Ha! She's got you there, Chuckles.


Blackwall: Do you two need a private moment?

Solas: No. I am fine, as is she.

Blackwall: It's just you've been watching her carefully since that last fight. I was thinking maybe you noticed something we didn't.

Solas: No. She is... well.

Blackwall: That last blade did swing awfully close.

Lavellan: It missed.

Solas: And I am thankful it did, Venhan.

 

I DO NOT LEAPING SHOT THAT MUCH OFF OF CLIFFS WHY DO YOU ASK.

 

I love that ability. But I have had to learn to look behind me goddammit before using it sometimes. I was nearly done with one of the painful dragon fights in Emprise du Lion and Leaping-Shotted out of bounds and reset the whole fight. I haven't yet gone back to do it again.

 

Funny to think Fade Step can have the same result. "Uh, if I don't look down it means I won't fall, right...?"

Solas has no excuse with my quizzy.  She's an artificer and a sniper, lots of stealth and mobility.  Usually nothing even gets close enough to land a blow on her, and if it does, she just chucks bees at it   And yet she's always the first to get the barrier while Iron Bull's off getting his face pasted in.

Just curious, how many of y'all headcanon Solas as dominant? I don't really, especially considering how forward Levellan is in their flirts. I think he would be passionate, yes, but not necessarily dominate. I'm biased...

My Lavellan is completely incapable of casting barrier on herself. Defensive magic is for party members! I just blow **** up!

 

I think my Lavellan the only KE who does not even know how to cast Barrier.  No need when her vhenan is watching her back.

I do, but that's mostly because I find dom!Solas incredibly hot.    He's perfectly capable of being both dominant and gentle.

I agree. I think he might be the type to go out of the way to make sure their relations were equal, give and take.

though i personally headcanon quizzy taking the shy first step and solas just scooping her away from there, much like the second kiss scene (i mean did you see how he went from 0-60 in that one hotdamn) It seems that he's had experience if you know what i mean

I'm not really sure what "dominant" means, but I would go with manly and passionately aggressive at times...

I much prefer the idea of them being two particularly passionate individuals and that bringing its own form of "dominance" struggle without actually having anything to do with one being more so than the other. If that makes any sense.

I was kinda thinking it's cuz Solas is not a typical elf.  Also, thank the Creators he's not that scrawny.

Solas and Abelas are taller than the other elves in the game, and have different posture from the other elven NPCs.  Not sure about male Lavellan though.

This is almost exactly how I see it. Both are very passionate, but that doesn't necessarily mean one is domming the other. Or maybe they're just switches lol.

Female Lavellan's slouching really irks me. It's not quite so bad on a Trevelyan but oh my god, Lavellan's entire back curves something awful when she walks in some cutscenes.

Woo, got me the Solas shirt. Just as a note for anyone considering- the two shirts for 25 deal applies to this. Got Solas and a Morrigan shirt. And strongly considering getting a Cassandra and Blackwall shirt for my brother.
