Am I the only one that was laughing when Gaider just blasted out the fact that Dorian is gay? He sounded proud of the fact and I bet he's just challenging bsn to talk about how he should change it for their individual sakes. Anyways I'm interested now to see what solas and dorian are going to think of each other.

Especially since dorian is said to be sarcastic and challenges his peers.

Indeed, I popped in to see how they were handling it and even though I'm never in that thread I'm pretty proud of them and being a part of this community, this is how it's supposed to be I feel 

 

well... is true female players usually are quite used in being "left behind" (look ME3, BG1/2 jade empire) so even if disappointed, would not rage as (ethero) males, that instead are used to have most of the content cut for them, expecially romances.

and a good chunk of female players have less problems at playng a gay male character if they really want to romance that character.

I have to admit that I was hoping that Solas would be the witty and sarcastic mage. Now I'm leaning towards the silent bookworm type which also fine by me. At first I thought Dorian and Solas would get along well because I thought Solas would be the necromancer and Tevinters usually are pretty open to all kinds of magic. But since Solas isn't a necromancer he might actually have some problems with Dorian, especially if he has the same view the Dalish have of spirits. And being an elf, I doubt he'd be happy about having a Tevinter magister in the party.

Indeed, I'm now of a mind that Solas is reserved, quiet, perhaps also stoic and solemn. Dorian has a streak of idealism - perhaps Solas is more the cynical sort? Pure speculation, of course, and I'll be happy either way!   BioWare have never failed me yet.

I wouldn't be so certain about anything. Sarcastic and witty seems to apply to multiple characters this time around. It seems to be their favorite character type in DAI

I think it'll be either Sheryl Chee or Lucas Kristjanson, since so far the other writers have claimed 2 companions each. Just a hunch.

 

EDIT: I hope Solas is more reserved just to counter balance the other companions, Dorian, Vivienne, Sera and Iron Bull who all seem really lively.

Definitely, I have played more male characters than females just because most of the time there just isn't an option to. But if there is an option I always play as a female, but if I would've been crazy about Dorian I'd definitely make a male character just to romance him, same as I would've done if Solas turned out to be gay. So I think that matters a lot too in that kind of situation, we're just used to adapting by now

If Dorian is the loud and proud one then I think Solas may well be the more reflective type and that will make him deceptive.   Because everyone will look at Dorian and be impressed with his flashiness but Solas will be there quietly smiling in the background because he knows stuff even the cocky Tevinter Magister doesn't.  

 

I think it is good that he is pretty much confirmed as the Rift mage because we do know so little about what that is.   I like the mystery that surrounds Solas.    If he isn't a romance, I will still want to get to know him as a friend.    I hope he is a romance though because my first Inquisitor is going to be an elf mage lady but she is straight and that's all there is to it.   It would have been hard for her to go for a Tevinter Magister but his idealism might have won her over but now that's ruled out.  May be Cullen will surprise me but at present I don't see her being attracted to him.   So if Solas is a no go, she will have to stick to friendship.  C'est la vie.

Imo it also rules out on Solas being the "Judas" too since I don't see rift mage being too evil

 

Depends on what a Rift Mage does. If it's really connected to the Fade as some suspect that certainly sounds pretty relevant to what's causing the crisis.

 

Though admittedly, I've never been too big on the Last Supper comparisons to begin with. It was pretty damn odd everyone crowding on one side of the table like that but I realize that was likely for the purpose of showcasing the main cast.

Haha definitely, I still play games with male protagonists if they interest me enough but I'll always feel more attached to the game if I can play it as my own gender. That's probably why I love Bioware to death for making games where I could do that, and their games still being my favourite after all these years
