Rofl, I made another elf and I've replayed the first conversation you can flirt with him, back in Haven, so many freaking times. His voice and tone just OOZES sex appeal.

My best friend romanced Cullen, and I romanced Solas for my first playthrough.  We were going at about the same speed, so we kept comparing notes on our LIs.

Her: Cullen is a total failtastic dork and I love him forever.

Me: Solas is...a bad boy.  And really steamy and seductive.  WTF is this.

  I wonder how it would've been

on the balcony?? near his desk?? would he have lifted her chin gently??

I want kisses up against one of those frescos.  I need Andraste.

Out of curiosity, what does Solas say at the end of the game to an AssQuisitor?

Is Solas even still around at the point? I can't imagine him saying that he respects him/her, but I haven't seen anyone discuss it anywhere.

I wonder if the anchor would allow the Inquisitor to follow? I'm not sure I believe the Black City is where they're sealed either. It's possible but Cole says behind mirrors, so somewhere in the Eluvian network seems equally likely.

Flemeth/Mythal was never sealed away. Mythal was murdered and her spirit possessed the mortal Flemeth. Her spirit was apparently just hanging around waiting for a good host.

It's not an either/or scenario: I'm pretty sure the Black City is accessed by an eluvian.  It's heavily hinted that's the only way in or out, and Solas' orb was the only known key.

Re: Flemythal- this is where my understanding of the timeline breaks down entirely.  If her murder happens on the 'real' side of the veil after the city is sealed, then... who exactly kills her?

I think if you're neutral to low-ish for approval, he says something like "You've made mistakes, but everyone makes mistakes."  You're not buddy-buddy, but I think it's a little hard for Solas to point fingers when he's messed stuff up so badly himself.

So I picked Necromancy as my mage specialization, and Solas also approves of it:

Solas: You have begun practicing new magical forms.  Interesting.  You seem to be drawing energy across the veil, wisps too simple to be considered simple spirits.  I believe Dorian uses similar magic, as do the Mortalitasi of Nevarra.  Why did you choose such an esoteric area of study?

Lavellan: I hoped that studying such magic would help me better understand spirits. (Solas Slightly Approves)

Solas: While our fight affords little time for formal study, the wise can better themselves even in the midst of battle.  Perhaps especially then.  I hope your new studies serve you well.

Aw, well that was a nice little conversation :)

Edit: Well Blackwall and Cassandra all but called my Lavellan morbid for it, though, haha.

I know! And the funny thing is, I think most of us were assuming he was going to be this really anti-social awkward fade-nerd. But no. He's this charismatic, sexy, seductive apostate mage.

Urgh, I'm torn between the one more turn on the war table and finishing the game. (Abelas!) I know I can play it after I finish but it doesn't feel the same.

I feel the same way about playing after you "finish" the game. I finished it the other day without actually exploring 100% of all the areas (I never even touched the Hissing Wastes or Emprise du Lion), but the world feels kinda... dead when you've completed the main missions. None of your companions want to actually talk to you anymore, for example (not that they'd have very much to say at that point anyway, but still). And Solas isn't there anymore. :( :( :(

I was thinking about it for future playthroughs, and I decided that a good place to put the main missions on hold is probably just before What Pride Had Wrought. Story-wise, I think that's when both you and Cory are trying to recover from the fight at Adamant (assuming you do Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts before Here Lies the Abyss), so it feels like a good time to slow down and build up your forces (and go dragon hunting, WOO).

He would lift her chin, whisper "ma vhenan" and then kiss her deeply.

Oh. If Quizzy absorbed the orb. Quizzy is a key now.  :o

And. Isn't there somewhere that says or shows two orbs?

And...out of likes again.  No wonder Andruil wanted him in bed for a year and a day

I'm gonna say balcony, there's no way all those passionate kisses didn't lead somewhere fun.

Though fun in other places is good too. . .

Good advice. I also never visited Hissing Wastes and Emprise.

Spoiler

I'm gunna try to do a completionist run now that I know the pacing and what happens in the romance.

See, I feel like they have to bring him back even gameplay wise as he ran off with a lot of my awesome mage gear last time? or are they telling me that i have to strip him down to his hobo-apostate pyjamas before the final fight?

Ha, I also blasted through to the ending after Solas broke up with Quizzy.

Is this a common thing?  XD

yea I've been "going completionist" in my save right before the final quest, and it just feels weird. It's like, Solas dumped me so I just went insane and decided to wander the wilderness for months, throw myself at a bunch of dragons to see if they'll end my suffering. And for some reason Corypheus is just chilling, and my armies are taking their sweet time getting back from the arbor wilds.

They really should have made What Pride Hath Wrought and the Doom Upon Us All (or whatever its called) once continuous quest. Or else given the "this is your final quest" warning before WPHW, and after it, the first time you try to leave Skyhold, Cory just shows up.

OK, now I'm wondering if I went crazy or had a lucky glitch.  Because Solas definitely ran off with the fancy ancient elven armor and I think the accessories too, but NOT the Staff of Corruption.  That wound up back in my inventory.

Am I the only one who's obsessed with his "a figure of speech" after he says he felt the whole world change, before the first kiss? He just looks and sounds so proud of himself! Such a dork!

I giggle like an idiot *every*time*

LOL he wanted to continue keeping up with his new-found fashion sense after meeting quizzy  ;)

I think Solas will do what he believes is best and that his intentions are to help. I don't think he's above making sacrifices out of other people to achieve his goals though. He may try to avoid those at first but I don't think he's entirely above making them if it comes down to it. He's already done something to Flemythal that looks a whole lot like killing.

Yeah, I agree with this more than the idea of it being a purely personal sacrifice he's making. I don't think it's impossible that he believes only he'll pay the price but he's also made too many comments about terrible things being necessary for me to believe he won't do what he thinks he needs to, no matter who gets hurt. Very ends justify the means.

Golly gee this thread sure moves fast! Any ways, I guess I never really got that impression from him. I have a tough time nailing down solid ideas/theories (I'm very wishy-washy, lol) and this thread has definitely opened my eyes to a few different points of view. It's sure interesting to see everyone else's take/opinion on things. Thank you. :)

Where do I find this banter? I need it for uh... research purposes. yeah... Research.

Also as a side note I am incredibly glad to have Solas and Cullen as romance options every time I talk to Blackwall and Sera. I find Blackwall's responses to everything rather... Painful to listen to having put in several hundred hours in on Origins.

And sera is still... Sera. She's kind of the character you either love or hate. there's not much in between with her.

I agree with you about the eluvian being the only doorways to the Black City prison.

And beyond the Elgar'non murdering his wife in a jealous rage theory, perhaps Mythal was murdered by her slaves as she slept in Uthenara.  Yeah, just another thing we can pin on Fen'Harel.

Like Solas moves from 0 to 60 when prowling the Quizzy.   :D
