So chatting to Solas after the Temple of Mythal with my manquisitor has made my poor elf look all the more a fool.
Spoiler
After he did his talk about how they can retrieve the orb and the past will still survive, my manquisitor just narrowed his eyes and asked Solas if he was planning to leave soon. Solas said he was saying goodbye while he had the chance.
Now I feel even sadder for my elf because after he said those lines to her, she was all "We will do it together!" So he walked her to a waterfall and dumped her. Wah wah waaaaah. She had no idea. Poor Lavellan. So naive.
Apparently nothing gets past Trevelyan. I'm pretty sure he's been on to Solas the whole time.
I drank from the well this time, because the idea that he might get bound to Solas now is major lolsworthy. Comedy will ensue. But I absolutely LOVED Solas yelling at him after. It was the perfect balance of rage vs laze.
Solas all yelling about how if he was there he would have warned him not to do it (I know you wouldn't Solas, you liar) and how he is now forever a servant to an elven God.
Then I poked him further with some "you don't even believe in elven Gods"
More yelling. So much yelling.
But somehow I walked away with a tonne of approval.
... Because no one can resist Rufio Trevelyan.
But I think I'll be drinking from the well more often. I enjoyed Dorians angry cursing and loved watching Solas flip out. I'm a terrible human being... Totally worth it.
I think this is what I'm gonna end up doing with my devout Andrastian girl. It makes sense that she wouldn't let Morrigan drink from the well, cos she won't trust Morrigan at all. And Solas already hates this character. I'm looking forward to this.

I'm too weak to make a character Solas will hate. D:
Golly gee this thread sure moves fast! Any ways, I guess I never really got that impression from him. I have a tough time nailing down solid ideas/theories (I'm very wishy-washy, lol) and this thread has definitely opened my eyes to a few different points of view. It's sure interesting to see everyone else's take/opinion on things. Thank you.
That's the great thing about the discussion here. Lots of ideas and lots of people bringing in different experiences and interpretations from the game.
Gah. There was a map of Crestwood that showed where Solas takes you in the final romance scene and now I can't find it.

FELLOW UNICORNS. I HAVE RETURNED.
AND I ROMANCED SOLAS NOT SERA.
AND NOW I FEEL LIKE MY HEART HAS BEEN RIPPED OUT. IS THAT NORMAL?
Welcome back!
Not sure if this has been brought up yet, but has any of you lovelies finished The Temple Of Solasan in the Forbidding Oasis?
You have to gather every shard and open 9 doors and according to the guide (haven't done this yet) there is a tomb at the very end. You have to fight a level 19 boss to get to it. Not sure if any story info comes from it, but they made it crazy hard to get to for a reason
What if this is where Solas was asleep for over a millennia? It makes sense. It's the temple of pride. Could be why he took that name. It's also ridiculously hard to finish. It's very high level. I wonder if there's spoilers hidden within.
I've finished it. I'm not sure it's directly related but given the whole pride thing... There's this:
It's so unfair.... all the other Quizzies get to enjoy their victory party with frilly cakes and back hugs and what not.... And all the Lavellans are just moping around, never being able to romance another character again...

Oh... Well still. I think it being his sleeping place is a cool theory even if I'm wrong. Dude slept somewhere.
It is a great theory, and I am gritting my teeth through Super Mario Shards for this very reason.
I always got the impression that he slept at Skyhold in the Undercroft, though, since the blacksmith says he thinks it was built for some special purpose. This also underlines the similarities of elves in Uthenera to vampires or (bald) nosferatu, if you will.

I wish I had the patience to collect every single shard in the game...because I'm super curious.
There doesn't seem to be any plot reason for it. After you do the whole thing, you basically get 20% resistance to every element attack.
Which was kind of a leftdown when I completed it AFTER killing all the dragons. I swear, there better be a DLC boss fight where someone just goes crazy throwing elemental attacks at you.

Oooooooooooo! The implications!
It could be a god of death. Or could of been Solas who was bound in chains by the elves for banishing the gods. That brings a whole new outlook.
We need dlc. Like now.

final fight with Cory would be like his Legacy one. Get plently of use out of those elemental resistances.

But you fight a demon there, right? Maybe Fen'Harel asked one of his spirit friends to free him, and it turned into a demon afterwards.
So, assuming there's a Solas DLC, Morrigan would have a big role in it, no? She's either his slave ( ) or at the very least would be interested in the fate of Flemythal.

It would have been super useful if Cory's boss battle was like the one he had in Legacy. As it stands, there just... isn't much reason to do it other than the resistances.
This is only tangentially Solas related but has anyone else noticed that...
Spoiler
Flemeth, Morrigan, and Abelas all have the same golden eyes. Talk about foreshadowing.
Also he looks so happy in the final romance scene right up until after the kiss. He gets the perv face (like Ander's when he goes "kind, wise, and beautiful"), the goofy face, and happy face. Every single smile is like "I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you". Way to go animators! Then he rips out all our hearts.

What ever was in there is loose now. That much is known. Also, only 20% elemental resist? For all that crazy work. It's got to be plot important for the future.
