Yeah, it will cause graphical issues such as shiny hair, complexions 'missing' (no freckles), no scars, etc. It seems that the patch made everyone play on low settings, even if you've got everything on ultra settings.
So do not patch y'all. I think you need to run Origin in offline mode to avoid patching, but I am not entirely sure how that works.

How exactly do you do that? It's been a very long time since I've actually monkeyed around with Origin.

You go to the top where it says "Origin" and open it, then scroll down to where it says "go offline" then the game can play without patching it. Unfortunately, you won't have access to the Keep or any online features.
Hurk well at least I know it was the patch and not something else going on with my game XD. I'm so annoyed I patched now lol!

I have since gone back to a pre-Temple save and am completing it, as if I could avoid the inevitable.

Hm, I actually don't see a problem with the shiny hair. It's an improvement from their "ultra" hair.

We're still on first playthroughs for a lot of folks. I wouldn't be surprised if more people try the Solas romance now that they know what's up with him.
Or they'll be sensible unlike us and just NOPE NOPE NOPE away from that heartbreaker pajama elf
Hopefully they fix the patch issues soon. Seems like a lot of people are having problems.
