Why am I suddenly imagining Solas dancing seductively in only his tight pajama pants?

 

My brain likes to torture me it seems.

I might be opening a can of worms by asking this (not sure if this has been asked before), but what are your opinions on Bioware making Solas straight? I ask this because I've seen people complaining (on Tumblr mainly) on how there's no reason for Solas to be straight. Aside from the possibility that Bioware probably had limited resources, I'm not sure how Solas being a straight man should be a problem. (I mean, maybe he just likes women? It happens.) I don't hear people complaining on how Blackwall and Cullen are straight but maybe it's because they're not really under my radar.

 

I mean, I loooove the Solas romance, and it works well as it is but I just want to know what you guys think if a male Lavellan was able to romance him?

I get why people would want him to be bi. I also get why people wanted Dorian and Sera to be bi. I think the only "reason" is... "he's just straight." Can't really explain why someone has the sexuality they do.

 

Personally I'm fine with him being straight because, luckily, it aligns with the type of romance I usually play in Bioware games anyway. But like I said...I get it!

So on another note, what Myers-Brigg personality do you think Solas would have? And what about your Inquisitor?

 

For Solas, I'm not sure. Definitely an IxTx, just not sure if S or N, and J or P. 

I'm going with INTJ. Before the big reveal I suspected he was INTP, since he's all about gathering knowledge and inner wisdom, but it seemed more theoratical, however, knowing his real identity changes everything. He's not just someone with a vision or ideals and ancient knowledge, he actually turned a whole society/pantheon upside to fight for those ideals... which is something that fits much better with an INTJ.

Hey, I found out that I am in a relationship with Solas because I flirted with Cullen and Sera, and they both said "What about Solas?"

But I still don't get his Lethallan or Vhenan comments, and I don't see any break up options, either.

It seems you only get an option to break up during his romance scenes. But it's weird that he doesn't call you "vhenan" or "my heart" when you talk to him. How many of his romance scenes have you gotten?

Same here. Like I understand that some people want all the love interests to be romanceable for all sexualities, but I feel like it makes for stronger characterisation when some characters have a set sexuality. (Am I making sense? I'm not very good in writing out my thoughts. xD)

By not giving them even an optional frick frack snick snack cutscene, Bioware appears to have created the single most horniest group of fans I have ever seen. The amount of Solas smut out there, in comparison to what is available for the other LIs, is utterly colossal.

Well, it sounds like you're in a romance with him, if you've had those kissing scenes and Cullen won't romance you. Weird that Solas doesn't say the correct greeting, though. Guess it's a bug? He greets my inquisitor with either, "hello," "vhenan," or "my heart."

 

I suppose one way you'll know for sure if you're in a romance is if he offers to dance with you after Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts.

I have seen a ton of Solas smut (and assorted other things; tears, fluffy headcanons, art, etc) on tumblr, so when I saw that I just about died laughing. Also because so many people in the Solas thread have started writing fanfic again because of him (you know who you are ) and a not insignificant portion of it is nsfw.

I personally don't really get why he was gender-gated to be honest? For me personally, it's more because Solas is so plot-relevant and not because I want more queer romances (which I do as well, but that is not my point here). It seems male Lavellans miss out on a lot of very important revelations about their dalish heritage and culture because all that content is tied to the Solas-romance. With Cullen and Blackwall there isn't much plot-relevant content, it's just cute / fluffy and angsty but it doesn't really tie in the main plot the way Solas' romance does.

So yeah, I would prefer him being a romance open to male and female Lavellans.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say. It really kind of sucks that male Lavellans miss out on so much of that content, as well as female Lavellans who romanced someone else. I won't be going around demanding Solas to become a queer romance... but I would have prefered him being bisexual from the get go. Just so male Lavellans would have had the chance to learn all of that from the get go, just as female Lavellans.

But yeah, I really do hope that all that builtup about the ancient elves / the elven gods etc. will be explored in future content, and that ALL Lavellans have a chance to learn more about their own history / culture.
