I think it's because Solas surprised everyone. Here's this elf, purposely kept on the side-lines during the marketing of the game, and we had no idea of his pivotal role in the story or his beautiful yet tragic romance.

All this talk of INTPs and INTJs is confusing me, someone mind explaining me? Sorry, also I want to say that -like many other people- this thread has become a little safe haven, so thank you all for being so nice

BEFORE I FORGET again, Being distracted by catching up.
About Solas' few romance scenes + About Patch notes
In the patch notes they said there was content they weren't able to get into the game before they had to send it in to be manufactured and sold.
What if there's more Solas in those "new content" ![]()

I'm on my second playthrough right now. I might romance Cass just 'cause it seems like their personalities mesh. I also want to try Dorian (I luff him). Other than that, none of the other romances are interesting to me.
I'm not going to tear any of the other romances down. People like what they like. All I'm going to say is that the Solas romance is so great because of how much emotion is packed into such a tiny space. I am seriously impressed with the team that they were able to write a shorter arc and still leave me reeling days later. I can watch every scene and feel the fuzzies or feels all over again. Furthermore, could you imagine his content without the romance? I think that, without it, not many people would have felt the weight of the ending. Heck, some are romancing him just to figure it all out.
He is a lot more like a Morrigan or Alistair in the way that the romance is going to change, in some part, the future of the Dragon Age series. We don't have the guarantee that--for example--Sera, will have some impact on the future storyline. I think they added the romance because they saw the potential for a "Witch Hunt"
I get the feeling we will be later rewarded in some way. If not for a special DLC then something that is put into the next DA game.
(Is being optimistic)

Haha, you have NO idea how true that is for me.
Before DA:I came out was pretty "meh" about Solas. "Okay yeah, there's this elf dude and he's an apostate and he looks kinda funny OH MY GOD LOOK ITS VIVIENNE SHE'S GORGEOUS OMG VARRIC?!?! CASSANDRA!!! IRON BULL HOT DAMN"
I never would have believed that I would end up liking Solas as much as I do now XD But what can I say, I have a soft spot for characters like him. :3

Alright ![]()
INTP and INTJ are 2 personality types in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. There are 16 different types that categorize people in how they perceive the world and make decisions based on that perception.
The I stands for Introverted the opposite would be E(xtraverted)
The N stands for iNtuition , the opposite would be Sensing
The T stands for Thinking, the opposite would be Feeling
The P is for Perception, the opposite is Judging
/very bluntly and simply put, an INTP would translate to an introvert who gathers information based on intuition ( instead of taking information as it is presented through the 5 senses), makes decisions based on what his head tells him . The J or P tells whether he prefers the N or the T.
Here are some links with more info: I'll add some more later ![]()

But isn't that pretty much what they've done to those who romanced Solas? SURPRISE ABUSER who lied to you and broke your heart in a million pieces because he's the next villain!
Oh well, just another ray of light to hope for.
Ehh... well this is a troubling thought that's been lingering in my mind, and I talked briefly about here. I'm using a spoiler tag as a trigger warning, by the way. So please be careful, I don't want to upset anyone.

Looking back, I find it funny that before I played the game, I was determined to romance either Cullen and Blackwall for my first playthrough with my Lavellan.
Then Solas appeared and introduced himself with a slight slouch, a goofy smile, nice voice, nice laugh, and I was like, "What a charming, nerdy bald elf! Maybe I'll flirt with him in the meantime while I still haven't met Cullen or Blackwall."
Then after many flirts and talks of the fade later, the dream sequence happens and the option to kiss him appeared. I was hesitant at first because I still haven't made up my mind on who to romance but I thought, "Oh well! Let me check this out in the meantime." and so I made her kiss him.
I was amazed on how passionate his kisses were.
Then he told me to "Wake up!" and the fact that it all happened in a dream kind of sealed the deal for me to romance him. That and the "fade-tongue" dialogue. xD
So yeah, as much as the romance broke my heart into a million peaces, I don't regret romancing him for my first playthrough. It was such a heart-wrenching, yet wonderful journey. ![]()
Sorry about that... Just thought I'd share it. ![]()

Spoiler
I suppose.
Not to be bias or anything, but I don't think Solas would really fit under that category with Blackwall. Solas did a lot of talking around the subject of him being a "god". I imagine he's a lot the same person otherwise.
Blackwall lied about his everything, and even told stories to back it up.

I will argue that breaking up with Lavellan was not abusive on his part.

Neither Solas nor Blackwall's personalities were lies. They both did the exact same thing: lie about who they were and what they've done.

I agree. And the fact that the Blackwall romance can end in a good way gives me more hope for Solas in the future.

I'm not even going to entertain the idea that Solas raped/abused Levallan. I think stuff like this is best kept to PMs.
Probably for the best, yes. It's why I put it in a spoiler tag.

I mean it as Blackwall stole someone's identity. Solas (I suppose we cant' know for certain) didn't steal someone identity, he was the Dread Wolf.

Essentially the same thing still. They're both living under assumed identities, just because there was a Blackwall once (and one that nothing of value could be taken from, given that he was a Warden) doesn't mean that Solas is less guilty.
