Just start another playthrough, watching early cutscenes I can't help thinking something like 'yes! that is fate! that is destiny! They are meant meet each other and fall in love!' Pity those Solas whose inquisitor is not F!Lavenllan.
And it seems he really can't stand the thought that Lavellan may feel their love is only lies and tricks. It'd be kinder for her to believe so, but Solas does his best to try to convince her otherwise. Hmm, selfish wolf.

 

BTW did anyone report that conversation after

About VA, I'm one of the freaks who preferred a mute PC, even Alix freaks me out. Give me silence or soft spoken, both of them grates on my nerves.

Despite the timing of when you are able to trigger certain scenes I stand by my assessment of that look  in the timeline of the Inquisition, he's not been with them all that long when they journey to Skyhold. gameplay/story segregation as it were.

I think it's a combination. He starts giving you those looks after The Dawn Will Come. He looks both calculating and concerned. I think he's realizing just how much people believe in the Inquisitor's near-divinity, and that troubles him because of his previous experience with "gods".

 

I also think he, more than anyone (except maybe Cole), understands what the Inquisitor is going through. It's not easy being a symbol of hope for so many people. That's a crushing amount of pressure. And that's doubly true if the Inquisitor is an elf (concerned conversation about the orb being elven and the possibility of blame). Hell, he might even be projecting in that scene. He certainly knows a thing or two about being demonized by people who used to revere him. I believe he gives the Inquisitor Skyhold so they can have a base of operations, somewhere to come home to and feel secure in. Because he knows that they really need something like that at that point in time.

 

Really, I can't see any ulterior motives other than that. Throughout the game, Skyhold is your safe haven. Perhaps we'll find out that there's more to his plans regarding it, but for now, it seems like a gift given freely.

Phew, this thread moves fast.

 

I finally got all those shards today. I have lost years off my life in the process but it is done! Now I have to do 30 potion/tonic/grenade upgrades. Wandering around looking for herbs...forever. WHY IS THERE NEVER ENOUGH ELFROOT?

 

I am currently rolling with Solas and Dorian to help me defeat the last two High Dragons I have left. As they're both firey dragons I have the pair of them in Dragon made fire resistant armour. It's so orange it hurts me. I can't look at them... too orange.

 

In reference to the last post I made here, a million pages ago   I gif'ed my angry Solas for y'all.

 

 

Also, because no one hates Rufio Trevelyan, I ended up grabbing this adorable picture of Solas from that same scene 

 

 

Eeeee I got so much approval from Solas after the drinking from the well scene. Gift of the gab. Solas told him Rufio was indebted to him for reminding him that restoring what was lost is important. Let's hope that doesn't come back to bite me on the arse.

I swear. Your Rufio Travelyan there sounds like he's a mixture of Zevran, Dorian and crack or some other highly addictive substance. :l

His face could be read a number of ways.

 

 

Possibilities?

1. Concern over how she'd rule with that power.

2. Concern over her safety with that power (she is an elf, and possibly a mage too)

3. "Oh great, the Shems are singing"

4. Scheming... (he is about to drop that bomb on her about the elven orb, to gain her support in his plan to retrieve it)

5. Admiration/love?

 

This face looks to me that he's being touched very deeply by emotion and he's confused and doesn't know how to deal with it.

He's also being a little manipulative in the conversation about the orb. Controlling when and how the Inquisitor finds out that particular detail. I'm inclined to agree that there wasn't an ulterior motive behind Skyhold. They needed a place to go and he needed them to get the orb back/stop Corypheus. It may not have been kindness so much as pragmatism but I don't think there was more to it.

As far as Solas's expression goes...I don't think that's really a diabolical look. I think its more of a proud, smug one. There's been some speculation that Skyhold might have once belonged to Solas? If that's the case, I think he's just enjoying the charade of pretending to have accidentally found all this stuff. ['Seriously, no one suspects anything at this point? I STILL GOT IT.' ]

He is a much less suave version of the pair of them. All the sass but none of the good looks and sophistication (he always has a stupid grin on his face. But after so many hours with him, I am so in love with him and his stupid face ). I think that's why I'm loving his romance with Dorian so much. So much sassing and bickering mixed in with moments of real love between the pair of them. Although he'll probably sod off back to Tevinter and my quizzy will be alone, again. I've noticed a lot of the romance have a sense of 'for now' about them.

I honestly thought that Solas would find him a pain though, so I am surprised and all fuzzy with joy for the respect he has for him.

 

...This just makes me want a Solas DLC even more. Even my non-romancers deserve a chance to see their missing friend again *misty eyes*

 

I'll need to make a Lavellan I love as much as my Trevelyan. My Solas romance was a bit of a rush and I picked options I was not too happy with. But I'll save it for after I've done my Hard mode and Nightmare mode runs. Aha. Or at least attempted my Hard and Nightmare mode runs.

 

I am at least getting a bit more banter with the patch now. I'm on PS4 so I haven't had all the problems the PC players are having. Although Iron Bull did keep saying the same line about 4 times while wandering around the Oasis place. I get it, abandoned caves are creepy...

For me scars have disappeared. Cullen has disappeared from haven. Geez this patch has created more troubles than what I already had :/

Apparently scars and the more detailed complexions were always meant to only show up on High and Ultra settings, and this patch has fixed that bug. Previously, PC users were all accidentally being forced to use Ultra shader settings (which is partially why some lower end PC users were having issues even with all settings turned down). This recent patch accidentally forced everyone to use the lower settings, hence everyone's graphics looking rather poop even if they had High and Ultra settings enabled. Also, characters randomly disappearing is a bug that's been happening since release. Quickest fix is to just save and reload, and like... 99% of the time, they'll be back where they're supposed to be.

 

EDIT: Also! Your disappearing scars problem should be fixed soon. No word on exactly when yet, but they're putting out a hotfix today.

Yeah, that's pretty much the face I made after seeing that, thanks.  I can never deal with "peeking under the hood" so to speak.

There's no reason it can't be both kindness and pragmatism, depending on Solas' relationship with the quizzy.  Regardless of how he feels, he needs the Inquisition to succeed against Corypheus to get his orb back.  If he also cares about or respects the quizzy, he may feel like s/he as an individual deserves a seat of power like Skyhold, independent of its utility for the Inquisition.

I found his look to be more on the side of calculating, but not cold. Closer to a "What will come next?" rather than a "I have them in the palm of my hands". Like he was considering our next move before anyone made it. Then again, I'm also very much on board the "he was genuinely concerned about the state of the world" train, so I'm more inclined to believe in him being a good person. A mix of kindness and necessity.

So I showed my friend some screenshots of Solas (she's not a gamer so knows nothing about Dragon Age) and her first response: "So bald! I kinda want to pet him."

 

And now I can't stop imagining Lavellan reaching out and petting him every now and then because his head is just so out there and bald and his ears are so pointy. And it's doubly funny because he's associated with canine things too. 

 

Solas: Why are you petting me? Do I need to remind you that I am not a dog?

 

Lavellan: A dog? Psssh, you're not cuddly enough to be a dog. If anything, you're more like.....a lone wolf.

Dunno why the subtitles are up on the last one; I turned them off just so I'd get clean pics, but they turned themselves back on. Ended up taking over 70 screenshots, according to the count, but most of them I wasn't fast enough and took just when the character was blinking, so, erm, lol. Just thought I'd post my Lavellan as so many others have. X3
