I'm more inclined to believe he likes to be chased, to be pursued by someone whose interest he values. He wants the Inquisitor to show their interest in him. I don't really see him as jealous or even possessive (outside of a select few cases) because sometimes I think he honestly doesn't believe anyone else can compete with him. If Lavellan leaves him, he accepts it because it's the smart play but if she wants him and gives him permission...
He's a god, he's used to being in power and having power over others. I don't get the feeling he enjoys it or enjoys having others in his power. Their entire relationship is Lavellan making all the moves and everything is her choice from start to finish except the breakup. She's in control, she seeks him out, and he reciprocates when she does.
I think you're spot-on. In the case of Solavellan, Solas is definitely in the position of power, even if he's the one being pursued. It does seem like he's very cognizant of that throughout the relationship, and tries to make sure she always affirms her affection before he does anything. I wonder though if he doesn't sort of like being in that position of power, to a certain extent. If he didn't have other things going on, would he have let the power dynamic continue the way it was?
Anyway, I'd love a Fenris-style moment where he takes charge a little...woof.
