Aw, I thought Adam Howden did a good job with Anders.  The voice acting in most Bioware games is top notch (okay, okay, except that one guy in Mass Effect who voices Donnelly and Donovan Hock).  I hear ya, though - if you don't click with the VA I think it's hard to click with the character.  Fortunately Gareth David Lloyd did such a fantastic job wth Solas, I think he is to blame for me falling in love within the first ten minutes.

I wont deny that Howden did a good job with Anders. He's a good voice actor. But Howden himself comes off extremely obnoxious, vain, shallow, and downright rude on twitter- especially with females. Maybe he's a super cool dude that comes off wrong on twitter, because, twitter, but I don't think so. And so now it's so hard separate  the two, because, dammit, Anders!

Yeah. Aside from the whole "villain for a new protagonist" thing, I also really really want to avoid Solas becoming a Thane.

Would not buy.

I'm still confused as to why some people think I'm crazy when I mention the possibility of another game with the inquisitor. I mean we need something to explain why they don't get involved in the next big world issue and "Oh. they disappeared" has been used too many times. Sure DLC could totally answer this but there's no guarantee of DLC xD

But yeah. It seems the reactions to inquisition are going to determine a large part of what happens next. If DA-4 goes the way your worst-case is going I think I'll be the first one to jump on the nope-train,

Spoiler

I just don't know if it would be interesting to start the game as the leader of the Inquisition - I mean, where do you have to go from there?

Oh and I've been meaning to ask, I saw several pages back people mentioning being locked out of Solas's third personal quest--which is that? Are you talking about All New, Faded for Her or is there supposed to be one after that? Because I've definitely never gotten one All New, but that's only 2 I count.

We'll be getting at least one single player DLC. Microsoft was advertising that it's a timed exclusive and XBox users will get it first. BioWare has said they want a different PC for each game; I don't expect them to go back on that.

The problem with all the DA games taking place in the same decade, give or take, is that there are still heroes all over the place and no real reason those heroes wouldn't get involved with something that threatened the world/all of Thedas.

I don't ever see him being the "villain." I see it more like, the elven gods are the villain, but it's all his fault cos he released them.

So, I've found my way here because I am a Solavellan. Strange, I started off determined to romance Cullen as a mage because I loved his character progression all the way from DAO, but found myself drawn to Solas. Now I am heartbroken for both Solas and my Eirwys. This seems the best place to drown in my sorrow while I hope for some DLC or something for closure. Already thoughts of a personal fanfic are swimming in my head and reaching for my fingers. I will hold off!

But, until then, I feel I must leave you with this song, "Somewhere Only We Know" by Lily Allen. I picked this version because the female voice lends itself to Lavellan. In my head, it is perfect for the way she must feel afterwards. After all, you don't just forget a love like that. I imagine she walks the woods, the paths, the Fade. She's got to hang on to something...

Yea, a lot of what happens in fantasy/romance novels that makes people swoon, are actually things that are pretty crappy to go through in real life. That's probably why they're so enjoyable - you can feel all the exciting emotions, without anywhere near the amount of pain it would actually cause.

Also, a lot of times in fantasy you get to help/fix the dude with issues and they live happily ever after. Um, this almost never happens in real life. You just end up being very frustrated and hurt.

But the romance content was abysmal because Garrus and Kaidan were more popular, so Bioware chose to spend their resources elsewhere. I was never a Thanemancer, but I felt absolutely awful for people who were.

What happened to Thane in ME3 was really shitty.

I really like how they did Witch hunt. If they do address the romance in a DLC I really hope we get an ending like that which kind of gives an ending option for what most people (or rather a fair number of people) would want for their own character.

Yeah. I don't think I could ever bring myself to fight Solas. So if I wasn't given a "talk him down" option, I just wouldn't be able to continue. I mean, I can't fight Solas. He's just so sad, and tired and heartbroken. I couldn't do it.

If they're aiming to make him a villain then they made the mistake of making him too sympathetic. People like the guy. Nobody's going to have any fun defeating him when all he wants is to fix the world and not be alone anymore. Screw that.

My guess is that the Inquisition wont be involved in DA4 because we're going north and the organisation is mostly based in Orlais and Ferelden.

Fingers crossed we send Scout Harding as our rep though.

Ye, my first run of ME3 was as a Thanemancer. Super fun times. It was the fact that once he died, all the other romances for that game unlocked that was really awful. He'd been gone all of 5 minutes and suddenly everyone was hitting on Shep. Ugh. Not cool.

I do not want to have that again. Also, please no more killing my couples while they're temporarily apart. I did not appreciate that in DAI. Do not bring me DA4 with returning LI's from this game, and the inquisitor 'missing' somewhere and then ask me to leave them to die. Again. Or just go missing in Weisshaupt. Again.

I swear my Warden and Zevran are currently the only Bioware couple I have who seem to be doing alright together. Of all the people, Zevran is the one to stick it out. Unbelievable.

As far as we (I) know, there's another one, connected to the elven artifacts you can activate in various maps. It seems to be bugged/not there for now.

Edit: Name of the thrid quest should be "What Lies Dormant", I think.

Sure, as long as this happened after I was given the choice to have my Lavellan either side with him or not.

I would be perfectly fine with killing my Lavellan and Solas with a new protag in DA4 if they really screwed up -- together.

Because you really can't fix people. It's just the way it is. You can help people at least start to fix themselves, sometimes, but it's all on them at the end of the day. Only you can change you.

So I hope Solas can change his own worrisome trajectory, one way or another!

And as for the question of why people don't think the Inquisitor will get another game, it's because it seems to be the Dragon Age team's MO to not have the same protagonist for multiple games. In fact, I think they've even said that they didn't want to do that in the DA series. I personally would be very shocked if the Inquisitor is still the protagonist in the next game.

Making him a romance would be a mistake too.  Some of these theories I read (particularly Solas as a villain or that Flemythal possessed/killed him) would make me seriously wonder the point in making him romance if it just going to end like that.

I feel like the different protagonist each game is getting kind of out of hand.  I understand & appreciate that perhaps they don't want Dragon Age to be seen as Medieval Mass Effect.  I love Thedas and the stories they bring us in this franchise, but I am totally okay with them changing their minds on the whole new protagonist each game-thing.  It could be just because I romanced Solas, but I really don't like the idea of everything that was set in motion being dealt with by anyone other than the Inquisitor.  I am sure I will get over it if it's someone new in the next game, because I love these games.

Which is why we happily indulge in fantasy dudes like Solas, and run very very far away from them in reality.

My boyfriend described BioWare games as my equivalent to horrible daytime soaps or Harlequin romance novels.  And then promptly pointed out that at least my girly drama has dragons and magic and mythic storylines

The only way I could fight Solas would be if I didn't have to kill him. Like, maybe he'd be a boss in the form of the multiple eyed black wolf and we'd have to fight him and then the battle would interrupt with a dialogue wheel and one of the options would be to hug him and he would turn into a white wolf because the power of love does that kind of crap and then he would surrender and there would be some running away together.

Interesting...

That's curious too because I found an elven artifact hidden on some of the slopes in Exalted Plains that I could not activate. No, I hadn't already found it (wasn't glowing) and I assume it must be a legit artifact because 1) it looked like one and 2) it was marked on the guide maps as an artifact.

I wonder if that's related to the quest not working?
