But, until then, I feel I must leave you with this song, "Somewhere Only We Know" by Lily Allen. I picked this version because the female voice lends itself to Lavellan. In my head, it is perfect for the way she must feel afterwards. After all, you don't just forget a love like that. I imagine she walks the woods, the paths, the Fade. She's got to hang on to something...

Gah, I'm too sappy for my own good.http://youtu.be/e5mfVD5kiCA

Ooooh, this works really well. Never heard the Lily Allen version before.

The problem with all the DA games taking place in the same decade, give or take, is that there are still heroes all over the place and no real reason those heroes wouldn't get involved with something that threatened the world/all of Thedas.

That's what's really gonna be the problem going forward. Dragon Age has Too Many Heroes syndrome. And people feel very protective of their previous protagonists and love interests and companions. So you've got this enormous cast that you have to add to every game, and in order to please people you have to budget in cameos and returning characters. I think it'd be best to have one more game with the Inquisition, use this entire cast you've built up, and then do another 15/20-year timeskip or something.

Interesting...

That's curious too because I found an elven artifact hidden on some of the slopes in Exalted Plains that I could not activate. No, I hadn't already found it (wasn't glowing) and I assume it must be a legit artifact because 1) it looked like one and 2) it was marked on the guide maps as an artifact.

I wonder if that's related to the quest not working?

Could be, please please report it!

Sure, as long as this happened after I was given the choice to have my Lavellan either side with him or not.

I would be perfectly fine with killing my Lavellan and Solas with a new protag in DA4 if they really screwed up -- together.

Yep, that's the only way I'd be cool with it.

Ye, my first run of ME3 was as a Thanemancer. Super fun times. It was the fact that once he died, all the other romances for that game unlocked that was really awful. He'd been gone all of 5 minutes and suddenly everyone was hitting on Shep. Ugh. Not cool.

I do not want to have that again. Also, please no more killing my couples while they're temporarily apart. I did not appreciate that in DAI. Do not bring me DA4 with returning LI's from this game, and the inquisitor 'missing' somewhere and then ask me to leave them to die. Again. Or just go missing in Weisshaupt. Again.

I swear my Warden and Zevran are currently the only Bioware couple I have who seem to be doing alright together. Of all the people, Zevran is the one to stick it out. Unbelievable.

Personally I don't mind that he died I wish it had been in a less nonsensical way but I knew his death was a strong possibility going into the romance but I hated how casually the base game treated the romance. Garrus, usually the LI but my bro in that run, talks about Kaidan totally forgetting Thane's existence, BW even admitted that's what happened when they wrote the scene.

Citadel gave his death the weight it deserved but I can't forget the lack in the main game.

Which is why we happily indulge in fantasy dudes like Solas, and run very very far away from them in reality.

My boyfriend described BioWare games as my equivalent to horrible daytime soaps or Harlequin romance novels.  And then promptly pointed out that at least my girly drama has dragons and magic and mythic storylines

I think portraying Solas as the "bad guy that girls want to change" is very inaccurate. He doesn't seem a bad guy at all to me. Merely a lonely one, called Dread Wolf and Trickster by his own people. I don't believe the stories describe who he really is, but it's hard to get away from that kind of... reputation? He's the kind of guy who has been hurt in the past and needs to learn that there can be a future, a future well worth the risk. Trust issues are hard to move past but nowhere near impossible.

I feel like the different protagonist each game is getting kind of out of hand.  I understand & appreciate that perhaps they don't want Dragon Age to be seen as Medieval Mass Effect.  I love Thedas and the stories they bring us in this franchise, but I am totally okay with them changing their minds on the whole new protagonist each game-thing.  It could be just because I romanced Solas, but I really don't like the idea of everything that was set in motion being dealt with by anyone other than the Inquisitor.  I am sure I will get over it if it's someone new in the next game, because I love these games.

Ideally, DLC will deal with some of the hanging plot threads from DAI and set up the conflict of DA4. My worry is that Solas's story may be too big for DLC with an Awakening like expansion already nixed.

I sort of agree, but I could see DA4 having a new protagonist if it follows something like

1) We get tons of DLC/expansion to wrap up loose ends in DAI (MORE SOLAS ROMANCE PLS)

2) The game takes place decades in the future, where all the crap we did in DAI shows its effects

3) Our current Inquisitor is either dead. has run off with Solas to live happily ever after, or shows up in DA4 to help the same way Hawke is in this one

Found that one just the other day, too. I don't think those two things are connected, because the third quest should trigger as soon as you've activated 10 artifacts, and I guess there're more than 10 overall. (Are there?)

NOT in the same way.  Hawke without his/her LI was a travesty.

Yeah for sure.  Hopefully they have some really deep DLCs planned to address everything.  Especially if the Inquisition isn't part of the next game.  I agree though that Solas is perhaps too big for just DLC.  Maybe the success of Inquisition and getting a GOTY award, fan reception etc will change their minds on an expansion.

That's why I think we might not really deal with Solas until DA4. I can see us getting a DLC that dives more into him but I don't imagine they'd wrap his story up with just a little DLC. That'd be mighty disappointing.

There must be because I'm sure I've found more than 10 on all of my play throughs. There's at least 2-3 per zone, not even counting the side dungeons.

That's what I'm really hoping doesn't happen. It just feels wrong to imagine resolving Solas's story as anybody other than the Inquisitor. Whether they romanced him or not, they're connected in a way a new protagonist wouldn't be. I mean, they have his key on their hand.

Then there should be enough to get the 10, even without the broken one :)

The "All New, Faded For Her" quest also won't show up in the "Completed Quests" log (if I recall correctly), so perhaps that's where the issue lies.

We hope they can fix it with a patch soon!

Edit: Also! I can't see the second Fan video :( Buuuhuuu...

If Solas is the villain of DA4 I don't think it will be Solas as we know him. Wolf Hunt might be more Legacy (setting up the villain) than Witch Hunt (Morriganmancers get their happy ending and everyone gets no answers).

I'm more along the line of, I don't know what DA4 would be if they don't deal with Solas before then.

On one hand, Solas could come back in a DLC/Expansion, that results in DA4 having to have a new protagonist deal with the fallout of those actions - could be anything from just angry elven gods returning and seeking vengeance/a new empire, to the veil being destroyed and the world going nuts.

On the other hand, if Solas doesn't do anything until DA4...then our new protagonist would almost be doing the exact same thing we did in Inquisition - trying to foil a dude with plans. Except the dude with plans is a slower, secretive thinking type instead of an OMG VILLAIN WORLD DOMINATION type. Unless the main plot just has nothing to do with Solas (maybe the Grey Wardens again? That's the only other hint we really have), and he's just a sub-plot.

The first option just seems like the much more interesting option, and gets us "closure" sooner than 3 years from now.

I'd definitely feel cheated if Solas' story had to be resolved in a new game with a new protag. As said, there wouldn't be that connection, and if my Inquisi showed up as an NPC (a-la Hawke) I'd be disappointed because that's a story the Inquisitor should finish with us playing as them.

If they were to do DLCs following Solas/leading up to the next game, I think having them set up similar to Fallout: New Vegas would be a good way to go about it. Each DLC introduces a single large map/zone, with several sidequests located within and one big "main" questline in there. Then, to boot, all the DLCs themselves are linked together into one overarching theme/storyline.

That would be amazing. And it would allow for a really deep story without needing to do an expansion.

To be honest, I'd be a lot more worried if Solas wasn't as popular as he looks like he's going to end up being. I've seen people poking PW on twitter about him for weeks now, and tumblr's exploded with all sorts of Solas love. And there are tons of Solas-related threads popping up all the time on the forums. Bioware will know that the fans want answers.

Of course, that doesn't mean that we can't do anything to raise our chances. The devs do read the forums. If we express our opinions in a public place then I'm sure they'll take them into consideration.

My guess is that the Inquisition wont be involved in DA4 because we're going north and the organisation is mostly based in Orlais and Ferelden.

Fingers crossed we send Scout Harding as our rep though.

But rifts are everywhere in Thedas, The inquisitor has to go everywhere.

What I meant was I know I've gotten at least 10, and I've never had the final quest open to me :( I guess I'm bugged.

And you're right -- All New, Faded for Her isn't showing up in my completed logs.

Boo I want more Solas content!
