Ack, sorry!
I'm actually really happy Zev doesn't appear in the game. I can headcanon him and my Warden off together on their own grand adventure to cure the Calling, scandalizing everyone they meet. ![]()

Same honestly. My Tabris and he are having way too much to be separated again, causing all sorts of hassle for the Crows that are still on their tails. I like to think they got so bored of the whole affair that now they go out of their way to heavily mess with all the assassins and send them on their way utterly confused instead of killing them. It's become a hobby.
I am suddenly reminded of a fan-made Zevran audio someone created. Yep, my Tabris and Zevran are totally headed to the Anderfels on vacation...
Oh, god. "Behind Blue Eyes" just came on my Pandora while I'm writing these thoughts in my head down. Why, Pandora Gods!? Why!? Just makes me think of Solas...

Oh my god that was so damn perfect! Have a dancing Colbert!

Oh yes, I had that one too. And his hand, instead of resting on her pert little bottom, was inside of her. And not in the good way.
I have to admit that made me have hilarious images in my mind.

ahhh that gif is the most beautiful thing, thank you. ![]()
Also, back on the topic of Solas, the same guy that did that Zevran audio did a brief clip of himself impersonating Solas and it's so good.

This is the greatest thing ever.
Like just the part where he's like "where the veil is thin" was adorable.

My headcanon for what my Morrigan-romanced Warden is doing right now is researching the Calling by reading all the lore they can find... whilst sitting on a beach, drinking pina coladas and taking the occasional break to see how the volleyball and wet t-shirt contests are progressing...

His voice acting gives me the stupidest grin.

Off topic but thank you to whoever showed me the money cheat.
My Lavellan is rolling around in millions of gold coins and it feels sooooo good ![]()
o.o I've been nothing but nice to Blackwall and he hates me already. I just got to skyhold. See if I save you later.

Errrg I just got up to that scene again and my heart just died... AGAIN.
Damn you, Solas! I love you no matter how many times you break my heart
I need booze.
I recorded the scene if anyone's interested in having your heart punched out of your chest. Sorry the quality's not the best, I didn't feel like spending hours fiddling with OBS settings.
So I just got to Skyhold in my 2nd playthrough, and Solas hates my Inquisitor so much already, that I got to punch him in the face! (I didn't actually punch him in my playthrough, as that would be out of character for her, but I went back and punched him just for the sake of my Lavellan).
I laughed so hard. His pose after you punch him is hilarious.
o.o I've been nothing but nice to Blackwall and he hates me already. I just got to skyhold.
Heh, Blackwall seems to love everything my Lavellan does. The only thing he disapproved of was picking Necromancy as a specialization because it majorly creeped him out.
Ack, sorry!

I think it's implied that he's with his warden, since his war table missions only show up if you didn't romance him in DA:O.
Let the feeeels flow through you
No lie. This station is tormenting me. "I Miss You" Blink 182? Absolutely killing me here. But I'm on page 3 of my story, so... I guess whatever works. le sigh

If you romanced him the letter says something along the lines "Zevran and I have our own battles to fight" ![]()
Which two screens? Must have missed that. I also agree that he already started to have feelings for her very early on. Maybe its just wishful thinking, but I've gone through 5 playthroughs with his romance, and I got that sense more and more each time.
Final romance scene, he tells Lavellan she is the first/only one who caught his attention from the Fade. I'd say that yes, he already had some interest. Perhaps he noticed her for whatever reason when he started to wake? Cole mentions something about the Inquisitor (Lavellan) being bright or something even before the mark, so maybe that's it?
So, um, I can't be the only one who downloaded the Cinematic Tool and used it to get up and close with Solas, right? Right?!
Spoiler
Holy bedroom eyes, Solas! (This is my Lavellan's pre-kiss POV
)
They are violet. His eyes are grey-violet. I thought that might be the case... people keep saying blue. The outer ring is a sort of dark grey/bluish, but I am totally seeing pale violet around the pupil.
I am SO GLAD someone else hates this trope. It is the #1 reason I am mad at Solas. I care about that far more than I care about him lying, possibly causing the end of the world, or potentially doing something catastrophic in the future. He doesn't have to tell her any details, but at least tell her that's why he's breaking up with her. Own up to his jerkish dismissal of her intelligence and capacity to understand/empathize with his goals. "Hey Lavellan, I love you but there's stuff I have to do and I don't think you will be able to understand. I don't think you can follow me down this path and so I'm breaking it off so we don't get too much more invested." Ugh...ughughugh...I can't even be completely articulate about it. It's a personal pet peeve of mine
Hope Lavellan gets the opportunity to say something about him being stupidly blinded by his own Pride. In elvish so we get the nice Solas/solas play on words. Then angry, steamy make-up kissing...
Effectively it's infantilizing the other partner. It's the assumption that they can't handle the big reveal/problem and must be protected. The fear of the character doing the "I have to let you go" motions is almost more that their significant other will understand that problem and will want to stay with them anyway. So yes, it's problematic. I can't say I don't understand the desire to protect--flip their situations and I'm pretty sure my Lavellan would want to protect Solas, too. But, my Lavellan would also try to explain things, so...
I do wonder how much of it is that Solas is uncertain how Lavellan will react if she learns the truth. "You're the DREAD WOLF? Seriously???" etc. That alone might demolish their relationship.
I can't wait to see all the companions reactions, honestly.
I see Dorian being like, "Wait...a god?!?!? *glances at Iron Bull* "sigh...."
Cassandra would probably start swooning after she got over the shock of elven gods being real.
Viv would just be bitter.
Dorian couldn't be too disappointed--Solas is apparently not into guys, OR humans, so he wouldn't have much of a chance (no matter how charming he can be). Same for Iron Bull.
Cassandra might swoon, all right, but her romantic ideas would be more about the couple, than any idea for herself. She might pester Varric to write a book about it, much to Solas's chagrin.
Vivienne... yes, she would be unhappy, because it means someone attained a far higher station than she has. So, she'd be bitter. And then she'd be plotting how to gain that kind of power for herself.
Bolded part: This is why I say it is selfish. Basically, as the person doing the breaking up, you are only considering your own hurt. If they decide to risk their life for you, that's their choice. What makes this trope so annoying to me is people think this is selfless, because wow it must suck to break up with someone you love (ignoring the fact that you just broke their heart too)! But you're doing it to protect them, so the end justifies the means!
I'm sorry, no it doesn't. Real relationships have a foundation of respect in them, and if you don't respect someone enough to let them make their own choice, then you are being selfish. Leaving someone to protect them is more about protecting yourself from the hurt of losing them if they died, or the guilt if they got hurt because of you. Notice every time this trope comes up they always say (or think) something along the lines of "I couldn't live with myself if something happened to you". Proof: It's your pain you're trying to avoid, not theirs, no matter how much you tell yourself otherwise.
Sorry I probably sound really angry but this is such a sore point for me. I'm all about freedom, choice, and knowledge, so the idea of someone making choices for me by denying me knowledge just make me grrrrr.
Now I'm not denying that it is a hard thing to do! I agree with you there. Letting someone risk themselves for you is incredibly hard. Which is what I mean when I say the trope annoys me: it's a copout. It's the coward's way out, not bravery or selflessness as it's often made out to be.
Again, agreed. This is infantilizing the partner who is assumed to be in need of protection. Let them know what's going on. And for that matter, I'd love to see a romance where this option comes up. There's something dangerous that will require one LI to either leave, or risk the other's life should they stay together. The one in danger explains the situation, and then a decision is made. Would be especially nice to see someone do the opposite of what we expect and leave because their love is not as important as their life/other personal goals.
Anything less than giving Lavellan enough information (not even necessarily all of it) to make her own decision about the relationship, is effectively treating her as a child. I suppose she kind of is, compared to Solas, but since he appears to be hoping for a more equal relationship, as others have pointed out (contrary to the dominance fic and Solas's own remark about seeing the Inquisitor dominated if she flirts) and for freedom of though and will... Well, it's not like he needs to tell her he's the Dread Wolf. The least he could do is explain he has something important he needs to do, that is so important that it trumps his romantic situation. And, it's also dangerous so he will allow Lavellan to decide whether or not she participates. Or even just explaining that the romantic entanglement has distracted him from that all-important duty--perhaps along with a promise to return if he's able, when it's over? But he doesn't do any of that. And yes, it is kind of insulting to be treated like porcelain. Both parties should be looking out for one another, but also make where they stand relationship-wise, clear. One should not be able to decide on their own that the other needs protection and that means X has to happen, without input from the other side.
Yay got that cinematic tool to work!
First shot of course is awkward up-close of Solas.
Gettin' all up in his personal space.
I'll figure out how to make the shots actually look good soon enough.
Spoiler
I know lots of others already commented on it, but I adore Solas's freckles. I'm freckly too RL. I think Solas is indeed a redhead/has auburn hair. Some of his concept art was actually blonde, or white-haired, in the art book. One made him look like he should be in a shampoo commercial. I guess somewhere along the line, they decided he should be a redhead, perhaps since he's bald and a splash of red eyebrows on his face might lend a little more interest, and possibly make him look less severe than black/dark brown would?
Either way I wish fan artists would take into account what appears to be his natural hair color, and when he has hair in their art, make it red...
Wonder if he looked like Ispan's (I think?) original Lavellan concept (the curly guy) when he was younger...
Even if Solas isn't actually a wolf, I think its a fair bet to say that he considers them his totem animal, of sorts? I mean, the Dalish can't be completely off when he spends his time in Skyhold painting wolves and wears a wolf jaw around his neck.
I personally think he's a wolf in the same sense that Flemeth is a dragon. Its just their preferred shapeshift form. For whatever reason, Solas was remembered more for that form than anything else.
Thus far there's no evidence he can become a wolf, but since Flemeth/Mythal can take the form of a dragon, it's not too far-fetched an idea. He might also be able to take form as a dragon; we don't know.
If whatever makes Solas a "Creator" is akin to spirits, perhaps his many-eyed black wolf is his corrupt form, and otherwise if he took form as a wolf, it would be a white wolf (perhaps like Witherfang?).
One thing I found infuriating and good at the same time (crazy right?) was him affirming that he does cares for her. What they had was real. Its almost he doesn't want to let go and let her move on.
The selfless way would have been to just lie "hey I was just using you..never actually cared *weeps in some corner* Its not like the first lie he would be telling anyways ._.
About him giving the slip and not trusting enough to tell the truth. It is the same old drama of "this is best for you ..don't want to drag you along with all the things I am going through"
Another thing I found annoying was the naivety and obliviousness Lavellan displays at times. She might have come across dozens of clues about his hazy background but never once questioned or asked what "sorrow" is he hiding.
I head canon the issue that she knows there's something up, especially after Abelas. Maybe she suspects all along, but imagines that Solas will eventually tell her. Instead, he dumps her and flees because he doesn't want to make that reveal and he knows he's going to have to.
In other news...
I was thinking, in the process of working on my fanfic that's sort-of my headcanon for post-ending Uth'shiral Lavellan and her relationship with Solas, about how Solas might react to someone getting Fen'Harel vallaslin. I doubt he'd be very happy, because to him it would be as if they were declaring themselves his slaves. Even if willing, would he want that power?
And yet, if you drank from the Well, he may end up with power over Lavellan. If that's so, and he needs the Inquisitor for his plans, I wonder if he would be desperate enough to force the Inquisitor to do his bidding? Or, would he instead refuse, and/or fight the Inquisitor, or try to talk the Inquisitor into joining him? ... Because even if he's not the Villain, I think we'll soon find ourselves at odds with our dear Dread Wolf.
