Re: freckles: Why does everyone think having freckles means you have to be a redhead? I have freckles and I'm a natural blonde. And I don't see why brunettes couldn't have them either.

I have a really hard time picturing Solas with hair... but if I had to, I think it's white or white-blond, mostly because I see his wolf form as also being white.

They don't mean you have to but Solas's eyebrows appear to be red, so his hair would likely be red, if he had any.

I think he has light brown hair personally, with a reddish hue.But white/blonde sounds interesting.

Just imagine if in our next encounter with Solas he's grown back his dreads, the party comments will be glorious!(Especially Dorian's)
But to be honest at this point it's either bald or dreads from me,I think both styles fit well with his personality, the second being more Fen'harel while the first one more Solas.

Ah, yeah they are kind of reddish. But then, I have blond hair with dark/black eyebrows, so not always the best indicator.

So, does the forum often eat posts, or do they get deleted by someone? I posted one last night about my vallaslin scene, with a link to a video, and it's gone now. Other people have linked videos, so I didn't think that was a bad thing? *shrug* I'd just like to know if I was violating some rule I don't know about, or if it was just one of those "the forum ate it" things.

Well since my inquisitor drank from the well and ofc met with Flemeth I'm gonna say it is safe to acknowledge that Flemeth/Mythal has part of her core essence safely within my head...coiled neatly around my warm soul.  And she said she had no commandment 'yet' when we spoke so one is coming but it is unlikely she will take over the inquisitor...rather simply have him perform a ritual by which Flemeth is restored a la DA2.

Which also means that whatever Solas/Fen'Harel was planning was also a part of Flemeth's plans...or at least she has contingencies and can put aside her goals.  She is very good at playing the long game and Solas is more impatient.

This is true. I kind of like the idea that he's meant to be a 'soulless' ginger.

I... don't know. Never experienced anything like it. I imagine it would just be that the forum ate it since I can't imagine what rule it would violate that other videos don't.

Aw, if he has red hair, then he and my redhead Lavellan can have super ginger babies together.

I think I'm obsessed.

"We should do this more often." - "We truly should."

ouuuuuch I can feel the snark cut deeper than a barrel full of daggers :D

After I allied with the mages and proclaimed I would take on the role of inquisitor for the mages, I had a cutscene with Vivienne where she hates my guts. I should have tried punching her, my quizzy would have been very happy with that.

So, I figured I should roll a female elf to see Solas' romance for myself. I'm just wondering if there's any significant amount of difference in this case between playing as a mage vs. rogue/warrior?

As I'm a (wanna-be)philosopher, thankfully I may stay in the realm of theory, but there was a paper published not long ago that claimed violent people seek out violent media, it may reinforce your twisted sides but games will not teach you violence. Bodily, computer games teach you to push buttons on a keyboard or a controller, they do not teach you to kill. I support this, but "normal" people will behave "normal". As long as the enjoyment of "evil" is contained to games, I don't think it poses a problem either. Sometimes being bad is just plain fun and that's fine.

I can get behind this.  I really enjoyed playing a blood mage Hawke in DA2 who drank the Anders Kool-Aid and slowly slid into Villain Protagonist.  (The hypocrisy over blood magic in DA:I did make me laugh.)  I don't think I could ever play an out-and-out evil, jerkbag character; there has to be something relateable to make it worth playing.  It's interesting finding the part of yourself that can empathize with someone walking a very dark path.

Disturbing too.  Don't think I'll do it again any time soon, but it was a worthy RP experience.  And she got to have a nice redemption = death moment.

I had to skip through the dialogue with Vivienne after allying with the mages my second time around by hitting esc.  It actually got under my skin (especially when she comments on the "freedom" of the Dalish- what a b*tch).  Bioware did a really good job of making a character you can loathe, lol.

There isn't overly from what I remember, just some flavor text and a bit of commiseration.

I was so confused, I just wanted to go talk to her and she treated me like trash and I sat there like what is going on, Viv? We just chatted in Haven, why are you being so mean? I was sincerely devastated after that cutscene, she really does bring out the mean girl. I don't even remember if there was an option to punch her, I chose something like "you can't provoke me" and she slightly approved of that and that's all I remember because I was so shocked and sad.

So in my new playthrough I'm at least prepared and while we won't be besties maybe I can up her approval by doing her quests and then we can at least co-exist peacefully. And I always have Solas' snarky comments to Vivienne in party banter to cheer me up.

Here's another Teh Nazzy video with a Cole choice I could never do :'c

Dragon Age Inquisition: Refusing Cole:

And in an attempt to keep this Solas related, here's a question for you guys.
What do you think Solas thinks of human and elf relations?
Elves don't populate anywhere near the amount humans do, and when an elf has a child with a human that child is pretty much human. For someone who believes the loss of Elven culture is such a bad thing inter-species breeding can definitely be a serious. I adore Solas but in all honesty I agree more with Sera about how the different species(races?) should be handled. You're all people, no matter ears or horns or whatever. Solas's view on how elves should be treated always came off a bit Malcolm X-y to me. He wants them to have their distinct culture and heritage separate from humans, dwarves, and qunari. Hmm, now I'm rambling, what do you guys think?

I'm thinking about trying a human Inquisitor and allying with the Templars (and romancing someone other than Solas XD).  I've heard good things about the Templar questline so I'd like to try it.  Vivienne would love her too :D.  It'll be something new.  So far, I've had nothing but vitriol from Vivienne.

Weird. I recruited/saved the mages (Dalish Keeper/Mage) and I don't recall her being angry with me. Does something else have to happen to make her angry, or did I just miss something?

**Edit**

We certainly didn't agree about everything, but we always had conversations about it. I did her personal quest and then encouraged her/supported her to

Well, I also told her that I wanted complete freedom for the mages and said no way to her bringing in more Templars to supervise them.  That may have set her off XD

Ohhh if papa Solas saw you treat Cole like that, I'm sure he'd have something to say about that...

About the human-elf relations - I guess I can understand the caution from Solas's side, yet personally I don't see any harm in cross-species relations. As long as there's love, I guess it should be fine. You could raise a child elven culture-wise, after all, right?

Well I hadn't retrieved any of the circle tomes yet, so no approval there, and I supported free mages, and she hates that a lot. Hadn't reached the personal quest yet at that point so I hadn't had a chance to raise her approval at that time. I guess that's what makes the difference.

I actually made a human rogue and played through with her first after having created a Dalish mage initially and then being unable to decide between Solas and Cullen. So I romanced Cullen first as human, played through with my human rogue and now I re-started the whole thing with a Dalish mage so I can pay more attention to the whole story and all the subtle hints. And to fully romance Solas (again), of course. >.> #weirdlifechoices

Ha ! Ohhhhh. No, I didn't do that. The more the merrier, My quizzy says! Though, I think we found some kind of compromise or middle ground? I don't remember. My Lev certainly isn't a huge fan of Templars.

Sure, I'll open this can of worms :)

I remember when Solas was first announced as a female elf-only romance option, and we were trying to eliminate the possibility that he might just be kind of racist.  Having played the game now, knowing who he really is, he's definitely a bit prejudiced against the other races, at least on a macro level.  My best friend refers to the friendship version of his balcony scene as his "racist compliment speech" since he effectively calls humans smelly barbarians, then adds that at least the Inquisitor isn't like that

And I think that may extend to his opinion of elf/non-elf pairs.  Not necessarily for purposes of procreation, but as just another sign of how far the People have diverged from how he remembers them.  But Solas is a fairly complicated character who contradicts himself a lot as he tries to navigate this strange new world.  I think on a couple-by-couple, individual level, he would feel a lot of empathy for people in love regardless of race.  On a big picture level, especially with regard to the elves, he may have more objections.

That's an interesting point, yet I believe that he makes a comment when Cole says something about the inquisitor and her li.In my case it was a female Lavellan with Cullen and Cole said something like them embracing(Sorry I don't remember the exact quote)and Solas said "how could they not?" Which I found pretty sweet of him.

Also he never confronted my quizie for dating a shem, which brings pretty much validates what you said about him kind of contradicting himself.
