I also don't think they did it. I headcanon that if they would have he would have never been able to leave her.
I think once he went there with her he would have been so. done. It would have been too much, too intense, too binding, and so I think that's why he had to stop himself.
He knew he would do everything for her once that happened.
Omg I literally have shivers just thinking about the lengths he would go to protect her. What he would do to the person that hurt her. Uagshsjsjsks. Stap.
Hehe more Solas *she says suggestively* for my Lavellan then.
Hmmmm, as nice as it is to think of Solas as so protective I definitely think he's more committed to his future goals than he is to Lavellan. A similar situation as Anders's who I believe told Hawke that s/he was his life but the mage rebellion was bigger than his life. I mean Anders put Hawke's life at risk to further his goals, and although I can't imagine Solas being able to fight Lavellan, I also can't imagine him dropping what he's doing to protect her (not that she needs it, Lavellan is a badass!)
I imagine him on his journey by himself when he adjust his coat and finds a long (or short) Lavellan hair on it. He then picks it off and lets it catch the wind, whispering vhenen.
Sorry for the off-topicness.
My fiance and I have been in a long-distance relationship for going on 6 years now. After I visit this is what happens to him . I have verrrrrrrrry long hair, and he starts finding it everywhere when I'm not there anymore and it makes him so sad .

Okay last batch of photos then I'll stop I swear lol. I wish I had the first and second romance scene saved but I somehow manged to overwrite them both while playing. I hope they add the option to rename our saves, it would help a lot.

What if that was foreshadowing? What if something happens to the spirit of the Dread Wolf, and it gets reincarnated, and then he doesn't remember you...?

You know I'm really wondering what it means for the story if your inquisitor drank from the well, being bound to Mythal - who is then consumed (???) by Solas. I'm curious if he merely gained her powers or if the inquisitor was to end up being bound to Solas then...
My biggest fear is that the whole thing turns into an Anders2 situation. I really don't want to deal with a Solas who's not Solas anymore. It's just... nope.
I hope it won't turn out like that... But what happens to Anders really annoy many one, maybe Bioware will think twice on how they handle Solas and give us a different ending
I think Abelas treated everyone like an outsider until he realized that they were respectful of his culture and actually on his side. Then he was like, "these elves are all right, maybe they are like me". That's one of the reasons I like him so much.
Unless you bring sera, they look at eachother and abelas makes a face like someone shat on his doorstep
About the whole not noticing that something is off with Solas, I posted this as part of a much larger post more than a hundred pages back X)
[snip]
I headcanon that, being a god and a powerful mage, he has perhaps manipulated Leliana (and any others who cared to delve deeper) into "ignoring" the inconsistencies. In Leliana's codex after the end,

I apologize for not investigating this more thoroughly while Solas was here. He was clearly helping us, and other matters were of greater urgency, but it was an oversight nevertheless, given how little he shared with us. It is not clear what his plans are, if any, but I will continue to search.
The way she tries to excuse her "oversight" as in, I can't believe I missed this, makes me think it was more of a compulsion not to investigate.
Anyhow, that's how I like to handwave it.
@amarnthe about Solas smexy time. I definitely imagine my Lavellan and Solas having sexual relations XD I mean they're both adults, why not? You could say it would be Solas trying to protect Lavellan from future heartbreak because of their intimacy but he already told her he loved her. There's really no going back from that. Also, Solas has like zero self-control, I'm sure all my Lavellan had to do was get him back up into her room and *evil thoughts*. Hehe. So I don't think there's any real reason for them not to be doing it, nor would I say is it out of character.
Oh I'm not saying you can't read it that way. I was just saying that in my headcanon, they haven't, and I seem to be one of the few. The scenes do show his passion, but then he always pulls away, always restrains himself from going too far. Because if they did sleep together, there's no way he would leave, and there's no way in hell my Lavellan would let him go.
Out of curiosity, what would everyone consider a happy ending for Solas and what do you think needs to happen in the story to achieve it?
Woo boy that's a toughie. I think my answer relies on what exactly the deal is with the story of Fen'harel and the elven gods, and what Solas is really up to.
I think it's a safe bet to say that the elven gods that got locked away (whether by Fen'harel or no, by trickery or no) were declining. Reading the mosaics in the temple of Mythal leaves me no doubt that they were declining into insanity, so it seems justified that they were removed. However, the insanity could be caused by the Blight itself, so maybe they can be cured.
So, talking happy ending more for the whole DA series as well as Solas, is for the source of the Blight to be found and destroyed, which would allow the gods to be freed and hopefully not be crazy like Cory. If they are, then they have to be dealt with too. Once all that is wrapped up, then Solas and Lavellan can be together.
I am absolutely convinced whatever final showdown this game has will take place in the Black City. It just has to.
Now, if we want to go smaller scale and say just a happy ending for Solas and Lavellan, I think it could be done in a DLC where you track him down (or he comes to you) and while he still is on his crazy scheme to release the gods, you convince him that no, the old gods were still wrong, that returning to the past isn't going to make everything better. Convince him that he needs to move on, to make *this* world a better place. If he can accept that, then I think it could end well.
Maybe I'm being too specific? As long as my Lavellan and Solas end up together and alive, I'd consider it happy, no matter what it takes to get there. I really hate tragic romances, but that seems to be Bioware's cup o tea so we'll see how it goes.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! That would be the worst outcome, imo.
I just hope that Solas didn't change into an entirely different person after he absorbed Flemythal's power. That would make me sad if the Solas we know and loved basically died right then

That is one of my favorite things he talks about. So beautiful and tragic. If they come back to that concept I will be devastated/elated, because the potential for an amazing ending to their romance is there.
Of course I am the biggest sucker for reincarnation tropes - THEIR LOVE IS ETERNAL OKAY???
He is (in some polls) THE best-loved romance. I've been reading thread after thread of people that never thought they'd romance someone like Solas doing so (because of the high praise), and loving it (because duh). So if they're intending to write it off in future content they messed up big time.
Re happy endings:
Guilty pleasure headcanon is that Lavellan somehow becomes immortal, goes down in legend as the beloved of Fen'Harel and goddess of (haven't decided yet..being a BAMF? Mercy? Liberation?). They go around helping elves and the little people.
That ending is sweet, maybe too romantic for Bioware

Well... maybe if they're both reincarnated and find each other once again as mortals? I'd be OK with that. I loved and cried like a little girl at the ending for What Dreams May Come, when they meet again in their next lives. This goes back to my "Solas and Lavellan are soul mates who crossed paths at the wrong time" theory.

Sooooo we just get to romance him all over again??? **Silver Lining**

I NEED solas to say "Well well, what have we here?"

Definitely too happy. But while I'm dreaming might as well dream big. I think I've settled on goddess of change/liberation/mercy. Her spirit animal will be a unicorn because why not? Ahh I'm getting carried away xD

Ughh I knowww! This is something that I am worried about!!
What if, he is a different person but he also goes CRAZY because it's two gods in one body and they thought that it would work but it does not!!! What if the only way to make him sane again is to find some magic or do some ritual to separate them but we don't know the consequences of the separation? What if it kills him?? Or makes him super weak and then he dies? Or what if he forgets everything? What if it doesn't work and he stays an insane biGod. Helllp!! Noooo this is all too sad. Someone protect us from this downward spiral!!!!!!!!
