I think I'd just like the option for Lavellan to go with him, whatever his crazy plans are, just like the Warden could go with Morrigan in Witch Hunt. But I don't know how that sort of ending could work with how the post-game is. A wilder idea that comes to mind involves Lavellan becoming the new host for Mythal. For a Lavellan that drank from the well, it just cuts to the chase a bit. But it would put her on an equal footing with Solas. That might only happen if Solas found another way to restore his own power... Which is kinda stuck in Lavellan's hand, which is another thing that could potentially come into play again. Probably not, but who knows.

BUT!
Solas's biggest fear is dying alone. So giving up his immortality to be with Lavellan would be the way to prevent that from happening.
Squeee!
And I don't think that Solas runs in the first category anyway.
Immortality seems really really lonely. Especially without his other immortal god-friends to play with. I could see him doing that- AFTER he's gotten done whatever he wants to get done.

He would, maybe.
Immortals go one of two ways.
1- Would never in a million years give up the power and long ass life because they are -afraid- of being powerless/dying/etc.
or
2- Would gladly embrace it because living a long time is very, very tiring. It's a heavy thing, I think. Maybe some would willingly give that up.
He doesn't seem to like being a "god" very much. Not sure how much he's digging immortality either since he seems to regret almost everything. I could see him giving up immortality depending on what it entails, and if he can. I guess if all elves were once immortal it would seem unnatural for him...
I just hope there's a positive resolution. I don't like the idea of having to role play my way out of Lavellan being slighted again. I don't want to have her be "mature" and "move on". I get to do that in real life

I just hope that Solas didn't change into an entirely different person after he absorbed Flemythal's power. That would make me sad if the Solas we know and loved basically died right then
I would actually, very honestly be pretty pissed off by that.
Just sayin'.
Meanwhile, heard this old 90's song on the way back to work and it sorta crushed my soul because it sounds like how Solas probably feels, which makes the breakup hurt even more. ![]()

Yea - I don't know if anyone here watched Forever - but the immortal in that show basically goes through the same thing. He's been trying to find a way to die.
I couldn't stop thinking about Solas the entire last episode I watched. Poor immortals..

What about if, in order to be with her, he has to give up all his power? I would be okay with that if that choice was presented.
I wonder how they could implement it? I can only really see it tied to losing his magic and I don't think I'd like to see his reaction to that.

This makes sense and makes me think probably there won't be a DLC for Solas... but perhaps an Awakening style expansion instead? I feel people tend to see expansions as almost games in themselves (smaller, less expensive games) and that if you don't buy them, obviously you're going to miss out on something major plot-wise
Also if we have Awakening's style expansion... more opportunity for Solas romance than if it'd been the length of a DLC
I believe there was an interview with the developers where they addressed the expense and difficulties of an Awakening-style expansion. For now, it looks like DA:I is getting DLC, but not large-scale expansions.

In Solas's case, he could always just let Cass hit him really hard with a stick. Dude may be Fen'Harel, but the way I built him he's squishy as all hell ><

I want to roll a character for a Solas romance playthrough, to see what story content I might have missed. So the question is, which class would be better suited for his romance? Is a mage preferable to a rogue? (I dislike playing as a warrior, sorry, warrior fans!) Does it matter at all? If I roll a rogue, will I be missing out? The thing is, my first pt was done as a mage f.Lavellan already. I can do another mage run, no problem, I like mages, it's just - should I really? I've heard Solas calls you graceful if you are a rogue
Thoughts?

His age shows a lot. Like in the Emerald Graves. He says "these forests have changed since I've last been here" or something like that and Blackwall is like "these forests haven't changed" since he was there about 10 years ago.
It takes a loooooooooooooong time for forests to change. Well, unless they burn down.

Being immortal sounds fun but it seems like most of the immortals spend their time taking balding-inducing naps...
Also if the "prophecy" from Sandal is true ( One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide.) then being immortal will probably be restored for the elves since that's what being Elvhen was all about ![]()

At some point he can say something about griffins ("sadly they're extinct"). I always hear it as "sadly they're extinct now" or "sadly I've heard they're extinct".

There's nothing too different about romancing him as different classes. The only thing (to my knowledge) that changes is a little bit of flavour text.

I romanced him as a Mage. It did allow me to open up a few Magey type dialogue choices that I don't think that you get with a non mage? I always play a mage as my first playthrough (and sometimes multiple mages) so that is what feels more comfortable to me. I think that romancing him as a Mage also makes sense if you are into the whole "Let's go into the fade together all the time because sex."

I want it, but there are meta problems for that kind of deal. The appeal of the lost civilization trope is that said civ is greater than what can be imagined. You're supposed to get glimpses but always think "what would it be like if it were ALL here??"
I guess Arlathan wouldn't just sprout up, but I think the majesty of that age would be difficult to express. If they restore everything, I feel like it'd have to be the end of the series and they'd have to go back in time (which would actually be fine. Let's help Andraste!)

There aren't any significant differences, so go with what would make you happiest!
At some point he can say something about griffins ("sadly they're extinct"). I always hear it as "sadly they're extinct now" or "sadly I've heard they're extinct".
That's in like his first dialogue about being a hero. It's his response to the middle option - maybe that you want to be a dashing hero?

He's really good at pretending to be part of this generation, isn't he?
Whenever he had said something off I always figured it was due to his fade-walking and he was getting spirit memories confused with his own.

Well, losing his magic/immortality could be a side effect of his next "brilliant" plan blowing up in his face. And Lavellan could have the choice of either staying to show him how good being "real" can be, or ditching him in order to show him what a ****** he's been and how much destruction he's caused. (Like any of us would take that option, so it's not really a good one. I just can't think of anything else at the moment.)

In my playthrough, Abelas treated Solas as if he were an outsider too, I thought. Hmmm I went back and reloaded my save anyway so I am going to do the temple over again to see if I catch anything different.
When Solas tells him that there are other places with other duties. Abelas replies curiously, "Elvhen such as you?" And Solas replies. "Such as me, yes." I didn't see it the first time either.
If I remember right, Solas is the only elf character he calls Elvhen, everyone else is shemlen.
On the subject of happy endings, I'd like one where Lavellan at least gets to give him a swift sharp kick upside the head. Solas is so unilateral with his decision to end the relationship, I feel like she deserves to get her say. On some level at least. I'm personally a fan of the concept that the Foci and her jaunt through the Fade got her immortality back, whether that's because Ancient elves are possessed by spirits or just attuned to the Fade. Probably true for any Inquisitor, but I like that ending for my Lavellan along with her disappearing after she, Abelas, and Solas go off to try to make Thedas better for the elves.

Them together. I'd be happy with that, no matter how it turned out for them.
