I agree, I was torn on those two. I ultimately went with the sad puppy version (Don't leave me, I love you!)  just to make him feel that much worse about what he did.

I tend to think being aggressive about it will make him feel bad, but not as bad as the sad puppy eyes-grabby thing Lavellan does when she tells him she loves him. Plus he's like "In another world..." and she's like "Why not this one!" *melts*

I know full well this may not be the politically correct view, but between my dignity and my man, I choose my man.  *cries*

Ahh, yeah. I wonder what that would require in terms of story though? Some kind of sacrifice or loss associated with whatever it is he's up to? It wouldn't be as awful for him as entirely losing his magic but it would probably still be rough.

Probably sacrifice/loss as you said. And it would be rough and he'd probably be upset about it, but it would allow for (what I think) would be a happy ending without making it too happy (because Bioware won't let us have that). It could be a way to help him move on from the past. Maybe.

That made me think of two of the reactions you can have (the most popular ones it seems) after the Solas break-up.

"Please don't leave me, not now.  I love you."

and

"Tell me you don't care."

On the one hand, I like the first one because she actually gets to tell him she loves him, he has a very emotional reaction to her heartbreak, and it causes him to say "What we had was real" (the feeeeeeeeels) at the ending.  On the other, I feel like my Lavellan looks kind of pathetic and weak, begging this guy to stay with her after he dumped her in a really crappy way.  The body language made me kind of squirm, to be honest.  She's drawing closer to him, begging, and he pushes her back with his hands up blocking her.  I didn't like seeing my Lavellan in that state.

I liked the first one, because my Lavellan is the sort of person who feels like she always needs to be strong, not just for herself, but for everyone.  Training most of her life to be a Keeper, it's a natural response for her.  For instance, during that last banquet scene, she acts like she's perfectly happy and fine, when she's not.  I liked that she could have an unguarded moment with Solas, where she was not okay, and let it show for once.  She has the world on her shoulders, and the person she's come to rely on for emotional support more than anyone is pulling away when she needed him the most.  Even the strongest person can't be strong all the time.

To be fair to BW the Cullen romance ends on a nice note more or less. Heck even Blackwall can go alright by the end.

I know people complain about how much BW focuses on romances but I say bring it on! More Solas love!

You're right, I just must have all elves all the time.  And this makes me mad that only the (male) elf lovers get the shaft in the romance department.

But yes, the fact that they did put some happy endings gives me hope that the happy ending for the elves will come later.   :)

Same for my Lavellan.  I love the facial animations if you pick the kicked puppy response.  They both look like they're in so much emotional pain.  And I don't think she sees much point in trying to hide her pain from him.

Also, while I love the "Tell me you don't care" response, I have a hard time imagining my Lavellan physically shoving Solas.  She's such a gentle person that it would never occur to her to get violent with him, no matter how hurt or angry she is.

That's a good way to see it.  It is a very real and relatable reaction.

I was going to say that.  I don't like the shoving, either.  My favorite part is that she actually gets to leave him, not the other way around, though.  He did the dumping, but she kind of had a say and some power in the break up.

This thread moves so fast lol My post already got burried and I got lost between pages xD

Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it. I wanted a commissioner's assistance because I just don't really like my art skills >_>

I get torn on this, as what I want (spelled 'NEED') is the latter option - because I cannot stand the devastation on her face when he walks away from her and angrily walking away from him, well, Mr. Man had that coming, dumping in such a brutal way! Take that and no I am not keeping one ear perked for even the slightest sound that you may be following I am NOT.

But: I also need to have him say that what they had was real, at the end. Not 'you were right to be angry' because, duh.

I was sad that the "if that's what you want" response came out sort of hostile and was followed up with something that came down on the mean side after he says he never meant to hurt her.

What does he say if you are a mage?

He mentions your indomitable spirit...and says he has yet to see you dominated, but the sight might be interesting. Something like that.

I thought he said "you have an indomitable focus but i have yet to see a dominating one". Like, he sees her as determined, but hasn't seen her terribly dominating yet. He'd definitely get a thrill of seeing her pwn her enemy.

I'm pretty sure this was the moment that I saw Solas for the first time.

Yeah, I'd still rather hear him say "What we had was real", especially if it might be the last time they ever see each other (...which I hope it isn't)

I the "I believe in us" option gets the "what we had was real" at the end, too.

Must say, GDL does a fantastic job with the break up responses. I think I felt worse for Solas during the final scene than I did for my Lavellan, lol.

Wait so...he only says "what we had was real" if you pick the sad puppy I love you option?

Wow, I'm glad I picked that.

I've only seen the rogue line, but let me tell you, that was the exact moment when I fell for him. I was expecting something of an "awkward scientist" type of romance, and after that line, I was basically just staring at my screen going "WELL THEN."

That's so beautifully sad  :crying:... his greatest fear didn't come true.

I wouldn't mind an option for that to happen.  Though, I also would like to see the reverse happen, Lavellan dying in Solas's arms.  Because reasons.

I'd like to have an option to where they both live and can be together...and I hope that option comes true.  :crying:

He said it would be "fascinating", then Lavellan just chuckles like "oh, I'll show you dominating." And I was like "OH MY GOD THEY'RE GONNA BONE HARD."

All I could do was chuckle at this scene. It was like really you detest it yet you are still drinking it? The look on his face is priceless

Spoiler

I do that all the time. Usually when that's all there is to drink.
