So far my favorite reaction is the "I believe in us". It most embodies how my Lavellan would react--knowing that Solas is trying to pull away because he's got some baggage, but saying it's okay, we'll fix whatever it is, together. She also says "I'm not giving up on you, Solas" which is sooooo what I feel right then. Like, I don't care if you say you're dumping me, because I know you don't want to.

 

I recorded my last scene and put it on my Youtube. The quality's not the best because it was late and I didn't want to spend hours messing with OBS, and also my PC needs an upgrade. But if you want to see how it plays out:

 

I don't like that one because his "You truly should" and "No, you can't" just hurt me. I can't really articulate why. Maybe because it just feels more condescending than the I love you version. Also more sense of finality from him.

So guys, I'm about to start coloring my picture and I need some advice about coloring dreadlocks. I've never really brushed that type of hair before. Any good tips that would make his hair look more dready (*suddenly realizes* no pun intended   )?

Dammit, Solas thread… you are slowly but surely dragging me back into fanfiction again. *sigh* And I haven’t even finished the darn game yet (but am spoiled as all get-out)!

 

Just started working on a little somethin’-somethin’ tonight… put my iPod on my writing mix (largely instrumental stuff and soundtracks from movies and stuff)… and the first song that comes up is “Adagio To A Black Wolf” from the Night of the Wolf album, some random CD my aunt bought me years ago that’s instrumental mixed with actual wolf calls in the background. I am both laughing and sort of freaking out that of all the hundreds of songs on this mix, THAT came up while starting a little Solavellan one-shot.

Also ironic that everyone was talking about "Take Me To Church" again. I'd brought that song up maaaaaaaaaaaaany pages ago, so it warmed my heart seeing it brought up again.

 

May also be using some inspiration from that for a little bit of smut-fun at the end of the otherwise angsty and serious one-shot. Probably a few days away from actually going up live and viewable anywhere, given my usual writing process, but I'm sort of excited to be writing again.

I disagree with that. He pushed for the relationship as much as Lavellan with his passionate kisses. He was the one who initiated the second and third romance scenes. He also asked her to dance at the ball. Lavellan initiated the romance, but she didn't push hard at all.

Re: freckles: Why does everyone think having freckles means you have to be a redhead? I have freckles and I'm a natural blonde. And I don't see why brunettes couldn't have them either.

 

I have a really hard time picturing Solas with hair... but if I had to, I think it's white or white-blond, mostly because I see his wolf form as also being white.

 

I've missed a lot since I went to bed, it seems.  Like... 20+ pages a lot.  Not sure if I'll try to catch up on all of it or not.

 

Anyway, the redhead thing isn't because he has freckles, but because if you look at his eyebrows he has reddish eyebrows.  Since they likely match what his hair color would have been, he's probably a redhead.  The pale skin also suggests redhead to me--most redheads are very pale-skinned.  Even if his hair were not red, it would definitely not be a super-dark color or his eyebrows' color would suggest such.

 

In other news, I was thinking--and someone may have already come up with this theory--it's a WILD THEORY and I have to share it.  I'm going to share it in spoiler tags in case people don't care about my theories, but... it makes a lot of sense, and the more I think about it, the more sense it makes... which is kind of scary.  (Though I still doubt it'll turn out to be right).  So!  Theory:

After Solas finishes whatever he's up to, or begins it, or... whatever, he's got an extra god soul in him.  I theorize that we are going to learn that the Dark Ritual was based on an elven ritual that enabled the Creators to be reborn into new bodies if one grew feeble/injured/ill/etc.

 

Solas, once finished using Mythal's power, may ask romanced female Lavellan to conceive a child with him that will contain Mythal's soul--obviously you can refuse to do so, and if you refuse, someone else may be willing.  And you probably won't get the offer if you stand against him or don't talk him down from his Grand Plan, etc.  So, by this point we will probably know who and what Solas actually is.  It will most likely happen in post-game DLC, or an expansion (not Awakening style, but some other form of expansion, perhaps more along the lines of ME3's Citadel DLC?).  My reasoning is that Solas and Mythal likely want Mythal's soul back into an elven, potentially immortal, body, rather than a human body.  Solas will not want to carry Mythal's soul around after he's done with its power; he will want to give Mythal another chance at life.

 

One potential drawback to this is that it may be the final interaction for the Inquisitor and Solas.  Either he'll die--probably murdered--or he'll have to leave in order for the Inquisitor to remain safe from the other Creators, lest they discover that she has Baby Mythal with her.  A potential upside is that it could also mean that the Inquisitor is "siding" with Solas/Fen'Harel and Mythal, and thus Solas sticks around to help keep both safe.  If it played out that way, we may even be able to get a happy ending, apart from the likely fact that the Inquisitor remains mortal.

 

The smuttier ones among you:  This probably means that, if my theory is right, there would be a potential Solas sex scene, but only if the Inquisitor already romanced him, learns who he really is and manages to be okay with that.

 

Also, if I am right, it is why only female Lavellan can romance Solas, aside from his probably just being straight.   Elven babies WOULD factor in.  More specifically, elven god babies.  That isn't why he loves Lavellan, as we've seen, but we already knew he's pretty much just into elves.  But, storywise, if this theory turns out to be true... men can't become pregnant (except for transmen...).  Still sad for the bi/gay guys who want Solas and can't have him though.

 

It also means Mythal/Flemeth remains around in future games, just in a different form.

 

Also, will be shocked if this has never been suggested, but a lot of the Solas/Lavellan fanfic writers could totally use "Hungry Like the Wolf" as their theme song...

Yeah, I really don't think Solas went along with the relationship only to make Lavellan happy.  If his goal was just to appease her, I doubt he would have engaged in it in the first place, knowing how it will end.

 

He also does a poor job of warning her off.  If anything, Blackwall does a better job at pushing the Inquisitor away, from what I've seen of his romance.  Solas is just like, "this is a bad idea"... nevermind *kissy kissy kissy*

The main thing with dreadlocks is remembering that they're essentially cords of hair. Since the hair is corded off, it will both be bulkier, and tend to cast a lot more shadows. It is very dense, because the hair is plopped on top of each other in designated chunks, rather than flowing together. The hairs themselves would tend to curve, rather than flowing straight. 

 

I scribbled a quick thing which may not really be any help. But, I would say when coloring the dreadlocks, try to maintain the individual shapes except in places where the cords would be the most thin.

Tumblr is very confusing to me. I tried posting things and my art there, but it doesn't come up when I search with the keywords :S Oh well, for now it's a great way to stay in touch with readers and to see lots of pretty art.

That's because you're using the search. I'm 99.9% positive the search function shows the most popular posts in a tag (hence why I don't like using it... you see the same posts constantly). If you want to see posts as they're being made, you have to use the actual tag. So instead of https://www.tumblr.com/search/solas, you have to use https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/solas .

 

It's also possible your stuff really isn't showing up in the tags. I had a period of time where nothing I tagged would actually show up in the tags I used. Tumblr support lied and said I was imagining things, but then one day it was magically fixed and I could see my posts in the tags again. Gee, I wonder why.

 

Strike everything I just said! Apparently Tumblr finally added in the option to show the most recent posts in Search instead of just the most popular. So just make sure when you search for Solas, you set it to show the most recent posts. If your posts still aren't showing up, your tumblr might be bugged like mine was.

 

Edit AGAIN: I'd personally still use the Solas TAG because it looks like a lot of stuff that's not actually tagged with "solas" shows up in a Solas SEARCH. So... idk Tumblr's always been weird.

Yeah,but I think the reason Solas doesn't tell is cause he has a hard time trusting plus with not knowing how Lavellan/Inquisition will react once she/ they find out

Nah. It wasn't Lavellan who broke it by dropping it. Telling the truth probably wouldn't have made a difference, except maybe get Solas killed by everyone around him. It was broken from all the use it got between the mark and Corypheus using it and the Breach.

The idea makes a lot of sense, and I think with the proper reconciliation scene, Lavellan would go with it.

It would give female fans the chance to feel like they could contribute something to future games too. Since thus far, only male protagonists have been allowed to have children. The topic has come up once or twice, but we've never had a say in whether it happens outside of the roundabout Old god baby.

 

It would be Mythal in the same way that Kieran is Urthemiel probably. Speaking of which.. If Solas has Urthemiel's soul too, wouldn't they have to do something about it also?

 

I'm a big fan of the lonely elf getting the family he never thought he'd have.
