As for the gifts, I believe I understood that romances weren't based on gifts anymore, but I'm not really sure if this means that there are not going to be gifts at all or that they won't be used to start a romance anymore.

Oh my gosh it looks like he has bare arms indeed! I can't wait to put Solas in any kind of outfit now I find along the way, so many possibilities... Also, I had this really strange dream about them revealing Scribbles and her name turned out to be phoenix, but that's all I can remember from it. Jeez, I almost never have dreams but when I do they're always so weird..   

 

About the discussion that Solas is around 40 and some people may feel a bit weird about it, just wanna add my two cents. I think I know how you guys feel, I don't have a problem with the age gap either. Reading all your posts I think I'm one of the youngest here though with my 18 summers.. I've never been that interested in "boys" my age, calling them boys yes because that's usually how they act, like kids, (which makes me think that I use the term "ugh, kids these days" quite often too ) and I don't fall for that at all... So I'm pretty happy that Solas is a bit older in general and calmer and wiser, which makes me more interested in him again, and I honestly think that 40 isn't that old anyway so it's kind of a win-win situation for me here

I had a dream everyone at my work was betting on what Scribbles name would be, and apparently I had money down on it being Tyla... Never even ever speculated what her name might be, let alone that... And no one at my work even plays Dragon Age except my best friend

I also had a go at my boss in the dream for insulting Solas I think the wait for this game, and info on it, is getting to me

Not the Atoner side, but they're both giving off a mystic vibe that gives them a perspective alien to the PC. I got some fascinating info dumps from Thane and expect the same of Solas.

Not really seeing the Thane thing, but I also just never really got into Thane either. Sorry, Thane fans. Nothing against him, he seems like a neat character. Just didn't push the right buttons for me.

 

That being said, I get waaaaaaaaay more Spock vibes from Solas. And that is a-okay in my book. Big fan of Spock, both the classic Leonard Nimoy version and the "new" version.

I just really want a more intellectual, scholarly and - dare I say it - nerdy character as a LI for once! Brawny, muscular fighters and warriors are all well and good, but give me some sexy brains for a change   . I don't really think Bioware has done a male LI like that before (I thought Finn was really cute too, it was a shame nothing came of that). You're my only hope Solas...

They're both older and mature, about 40ish, are intelligent but introverted, have something similar to "out of body experiences" (visions, dreams in the fade), have their own experiences and opinions on topics which are morally incomprehensible to most other people (assassinations, spirits in the fade). It's not said anywhere but I suspect Solas might also believe in a total separation of responsibility and accountability between the mind, body and spirit.

Those are just my first impressions. I could be totally wrong

I know that most of our companions either don't have one or we just never discover them, but it makes me wonder because every inquisitor does (even though we as the PC always had one so that's nothing new really), do all the companions have one too this time around? I've always found it a bit strange that a select group of companions always had last names, while others didn't. What do you guys think?

Well, Vivienne is 'Madame de Fer', so maybe? Would Solas still carry a last name though? Suppose it might also depend on why he left his village, maybe?

 

And Varric obvs has a last name, and so does Cass... but theirs are both listed as theyre names on their profiles on the website... so maybe we won't find out anyone elses.

'Madame de Fer' is merely her title, though (Lady of Iron), so we don't actually know what her last name is either. And I feel that if Solas had a surname, perhaps he dropped it (due to some event where he used to live, as you said), or we just learn about it later.

 

Huh, that just made me think, totally off topic, but what about Iron Bull's real qunari name? Hmmm...

 

We'll probably learn of it if we become best bros with/romance him, or maybe if the Ben-Hassrath shows up and stirs some trouble, we might get more insight into his whole Qunari Bond life.

It depends, really. It seems to be like a half and half deal where half of companions have surnames and half don't. I'm not quite sure why, either 

 

I get the feeling that Solas doesn't have one, though. If Solas is even his real name.
