That does make it worse! I like it and I'm stickin' to it.
...Oh, in hindsight: I don't think I can. Isn't he seen traveling west immediately(?) after Coryphefish's defeat? I can't check and I don't claim to remember the codex update precisely.

Just wanted to add to all the Solas love...

To think that nerdy elf would turn out to be so sexy, lol.

I intended to choose Solas as a love interest on my second playthrough (romanced Cullen first) but fell in love with the character in my first playthrough. I already know how his romance turns out, but still want to experience it, despite knowing how it will end…

I haven't really seen the hate on the Dalish, though that may be because I haven't journeyed to "that part" of the forums. (I just love hanging around this thread for all the Solas love and interesting theories and speculations that people come up with. Not to mention being able to read some of the juicy smut fics.)

With that said though, as someone who's played a Dalish Warden in DA:O and formed some kind of attachment for them, the revelation that the Dalish elves have gotten their history all wrong did kind of shock me, but at the same time, I thought it made the story more compelling. (Though I know some fans in the Tumblr community see it as Bioware purposely taking a dump on the Dalish in general and claiming they did it because Bioware hates the elves, which I seriously don't believe was Bioware's intent.)

I'm just kind of sad that people are using the newfound lore to justify their hate for the Dalish. I know they're flawed and can be pretty nasty to someone who is not Dalish, but that does not mean that they all deserve to die. That's a bit much. :(

I spend most of my time on the Krem and Dorian threads <3 I generally avoid general elf threads because of the anti-elf and anti-Dalish ridiculousness that always crops back up (and it always did it a year ago when I was here last, and avoided it then, too). I went into the thread because someone had linked to it, and was just aggravated at the whole mess it had turned in to.

Yeah, some Dalish can be pretty nasty- I would be too if I had been part of an oppressed minority for a thousand years and my people sold into slavery and treated second class. I'd probably avoid humans and not trust them, and would probably have a sad opinion of city elves. (I also know that'd probably make me a pretty terrible person, too- it's easy to be objective from the outside, but if I lived in Thedas under those conditions....). I like that the PC has options for their own attitude as a Dalish.

I like the lore being turned on its head, too. The Dalish deserve to know the truth of their own history. The issue now is, what will they do about it? Clearly, some of them want to make amends and learn from it, shocking though it is. Some of them won't want to. Again, if I lived in Thedas and had my world shaken so badly, I'd probably spend an awful lot of time angry and in denial. It would take a long time to come to terms with it.

My boy will probably have drinks (lots of them) with Dorian and spend an awful lot of time venting and ranting once he finds out. Then he'd probably go talk to Solas about it all, as he sees him as a wise elder. Then, he'd vow to try to make things better. He's representing the Inquisition as a Dalish, afterall, proving that they can champion the greater good for all and that not all of them are terrible people. I haven't finished the game, so I have no idea how much of that would actually be possible to RP. I'm confident there should at least be some way to talk about it, however minor. Dorian is his LI, and would be able to sympathise with "my people did horrible and stupid things and I want to make things better."

I don't write fan fiction, as I write my own original fiction, but this whole scenario almost makes me want to! It's just too damn fascinating and beautiful and amazing! I have a strong aversion to "playing in someone else's sandbox" when it comes to fiction, but damnit Bioware, you're making my brain go into overdrive. I've having enough trouble finishing my own work as it is without delving into writing my PC's version of Inquisition.

Just woke up from a nap, so sorry for the incoherent rambling.

The weird thing to me is: when, exactly, did he sketch it out?

That can't have been his plan before the Corypheus fight.  At that point the orb was intact and plan A was still viable.

So... he realizes he can't follow through on his promise, dashes back to Skyhold to paint a clue for Lavellan about Plan B, and... doesn't get it done in time before the Inquisition army gets back, so he has to run off again?

It's just odd.  Probably just necessary deus ex machina to give us the clue crumbs without direct Solas intervention, but it makes the timeline so wonky.

I suppose it makes the most sense that he sketched it out before they left for the final battle, but since he never returned to Skyhold, he wasn't able to complete it.

But still, the weirdness is that it's a sketch of Plan B.

Before the battle, there was no reason to think things weren't going to go according to plan.  He was supposed to recover the orb, make the big reveal to Lavellan, and live happily ever after.  Plan A.  No need to involve Mythal.

If it's intentional, and not just sloppy clue dropping, that changes what we know of his original plan quite a bit.

What I've been wondering is how that's meant to be him and Mythal when the paintings are supposed to be the Inquisitor's actions. Even if we can claim the dragon is the one you slay fighting Corypheus, what's with the wolf standing over it, if we are seeing the picture correctly? If he starts to paint it before they've left to battle, how would he know the outcome? If he slapped a sketch up while everyone is still returning, it'd make more sense he'd know the eventual outcome of his actions after leaving... but again, supposed to be the action of the inquisitor?

It's passed my bed time. Time for me to vacate the thread before I make less sense. :P

You're assuming the mural is tied to Flemythal and the events of the epilogue. It could very well represent the impending victory of the Inquisitor over the archdemon, where the wolf is Solas observing the battle.

No, you're making sense. I also think it represents the inquisitor's actions rather than Solas/ Flemythal.

OR perhaps the sketch is his way of psyching himself up FOR plan B if the orb is irretrievable. He has to know its possible it will break, or may be unusable for some other reason.

If things had gone well, and the orb came out unscathed, he could always have gone back to Skyhold and painted over it with something else. Maybe he figures that if things go south in that final battle and he does have to leave, Lavellan will at least have SOME of the truth he promised her.

Oh my gosh just look at Solas little smile when he grabs you after you kiss him. The way he shakes his head like "oh no, you don't get to kiss me then run away, my turn"

I suck at this character creator. I get to the jail scene and I'm HORRIFIED by protruding lips or ugly makeup or massive underbites.... every time.  :(

Make-up is completely hit or miss thanks to the horrible lighting in the character creator, but protruding lips and horrible underbites should be easier to avoid. Have you been rotating your characters to check their profiles before finishing in the CC?

Same. It's just that I see some posts on Tumblr from people who are absolutely enraged and convinced that Bioware had sinister intentions for showing us that the Dalish have been wrong all this time. Heck, I even saw one post that was basically a wall of text expressing their rage to an almost SJW level of rage (they're pretty much saying that Bioware was propagating oppression or something.... Don't ask me! ).

Tumblr will tumblr. I admit, I thought it was a little bit cheap, the bit about turning mage children out into the wilderness. A people that's barely hanging on population-wise would give up some of its most talented young? No, I don't buy it. I think it was added to cut off the objection that the Dalish handle magic better than the Circle.

For the rest of the revelations, I like it because it's closer to how actual history works. We don't realize how little we actually *know* about history. Turn over one stone and everything you think you know could change. This is how the real world works, so it's how good storytelling should work, if it's executed well.

And I'm really happy that they're developing the elven lore and not just letting the elves be background color. I was about ready to give up on the series but that brought me back.

Yeah, that was kind of out of left field. I thought the Dalish were losing their magic and mage children were important? Honestly, it feels like it was added so Vivienne could be right about something if she was arguing with a Dalish mage.
