I headcanon'd that Lavellan slept through the parts about Mythal. She was only interested in the gods she liked (June, Sylaise, Halla-lady), but they conveniently never talked about them >.>

I am seriously sad they didn't talk about June - he is my favorite!

I play Hunter Lavellan so Im pretty out of the loop already.

My Lavellan loves stories of the old ways around the fire (she can listen to Solas for hours) but she doesnt know much herself other then what she had been told by the clan.

When i explain Dalish life to Josie, I usually choose the 'its a hard life' option. She likes her people's life, but its not making it easier.

Viv likes me too! And she is completely fabulous, darling. (She still won't sleep with me. Argh) I don't get the hate for her. I actually don't get any of the hate for any of the characters. I love them all (Even stupid Blackwall, despite his... Omission)

I can't stand her :(, she's exactly the kind of person I would despise in reality, I can't get over that..I wish I could, I've never hated a companion before...ever.  It must say something good about the writing..right?

Even on my Lavellan playthrough - when I was super pro mage freedom and all - Viv's arguments for pro-circle were very convincing. She almost made me change my outlook on mage rights, right then and there. But then I was just like, stubborn child who lost an argument, shake my head "no, you're wrong!" and storm out.

I wanted her to like me, but we just didn't get along. But when she does like you...she's amazing. "I always have time for you, my dear." Makes me so happy to hear her say that.

I think DA2 did a better job at it than DA:I did, though. Like, in my 2nd playthrough, I just got to Skyhold and already got Solas's "I hate you guts" conversation, and I can't say it doesn't make me concerned that I'm not going to get any conversations/quests from him for the rest of the game. And I've already gotten a bunch of conversations with Viv than I never got in my first playthrough.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but it almost seems like DA:i went back to how DA:O did it.

I think they're in a middle-ground with DA:I. I liked the DA:2 system but sometimes felt like it was a little strange that your companions could dislike you and still decide to stick around (some more than others). It didn't feel like my actions had consequences because Hawke was apparently so magnetic that once you got attached to them you were stuck. I like that you can drive your companions away in DA:I (with the exception of the a few), as that seems more realistic to me. If I were Viv and my lover died (seemingly) because the Quizzie gave me the wrong ingredient on purpose, that wouldn't be a move that would make me feel like they're my rival - they would be my enemy. Ideally, there would be a triangle system with like rival/friend/enemy, but I can't imagine what kind of nightmare that would be to implement.

Re Solas Future Theories:

Stumbled across this on Tumblr today: http://femharel.tumb...eeth-solas-meta

Far more articulate people summed up my feelings on future Solas development. I think it's worth a read.

He is. And seeing how scary he is when he's angry just makes me appreciate how cuddly he usually is even more.

(We need more gentle!Solas fanfic, from what I've seen on tumblr it goes from zero to sixty; either celibate or full-on dominant).

My headcanon is that he's gentle a fair bit of the time. So that'll continue in my stories :)

I love that he listened to music from "Once". That's come up on this thread several times.

Yeah, but there seems to be at least some other content, like I had a scene where Vivienne and my inquisitor threw a hiss fit at each other. Sadly, it feels like she's about to leave, which indeed would be a step back since DA2.

I have a lump in my throat now though...because Hallelujah... that's a song from my past.  Jeff Buckley's version though...

You're right that it's more realistic, I guess I just liked having a magnetic Hawke : ) if I had more likes, I'd like this.

I really love how he translated the rhythm of Hallelujah to the sentences. The way he speaks is one of the things I loved most about the character :)

Here's to hoping that it will inspire some good fanfiction!

I think I read someone else who expressed his/her feelings about Vivienne very well... "I don't like her as a person, but I like her as a character." Don't remember where I read that, it could very well have been in this thread.

That said, nothing wrong with liking her as a person or disliking her as a character, haha.

I am actually tearing up right now. One of my fondest memories is singing Hallelujah with my father. That song means so much to me.

Oh god...I literally listen to/sing that Hallelujah song everytime I'm sad. Knowing that's what he listened to writing Solas just breaks my heart.

Otherwise, Weekes has good taste.

I can't wait to play again and hear Solas and the Inquisitor both doing it. It's super neat to me that the Inquisitor can pick up that rhythm.

Ha, I hadn't seen this. But yes, Once was definitely  in my head for the Solas romance. As was the wonderful Sarah McLachlan's piano version of Possession here

Spoiler

Oh and if anyone can remember an old TV show which famously used this song for one of it's most heartbreaking episodes, I'll give you all the likes and love I have.

PW: (In the rare cases the player got into the same rhythm, there was always an approval bump from Solas. For that brief period, it was like the player was thinking like he did.)

I noticed this! It felt like he and the Inquisitor were really meshing when you picked certain responses. It was so wonderful, and it made me feel that much closer to the character.

I personally love Vivienne and I love putting her in a party with Solas and just let them bicker. Bicker, bicker, bicker. In fact, it probably drives Solas up a wall that my Inquizzie manages to be friends with both of them at the same time. I have a feeling those two compete over who should be influencing my mage Lavellan while Dorian sneaks up behind her all "come this way, I've got cool things to show you".

I also imagine Vivienne took Lavellan shopping in Val Royeaux after the break up (possibly with Leiliana). Nothing takes your mind off a man like a good pair of shoes after all and the Inquisitor must always look presentable. I think one of my favorite cutscenes with her was when she got all motherly on me and tried to clean dirt off my Lavellan's face. Then my Lavellan got all wistful and went but I like dirt.

Also, watching her dominate Iron Bull is hilarious.
