Far more articulate people summed up my feelings on future Solas development. I think it's worth a read.

 

I think my primary reason is that I love, love love love a nuanced, morally-greyish but non-antagonistic treatment of the Trickster archetype, and I get annoyed when they end up being Sympathetic But Ultimately Misguided because in a way it obviates the role they play in patheons/legends/etc - they nominally exist to shake up the status quo and ultimately balance out the more conservative, orderly elements of the Powers That Be.  

 

But what we tend to see instead is these characters either flat-out succumbing to megalomania (see: Marvel’s Loki in recent films) or royally screwing things up in their efforts to improve the world (from which the conservative elements have to come in and set things right).  

 

I don’t want that to be the answer. 

 

I don’t want the narrative to ultimately say “don’t take risks and rock the boat, because you’ll **** it up.”  I want it to say “have the guts to imagine how things could be better and act to make it so.”

Ugh, that last screenshot hits me right in the feels.  The moment he disappears right after has to be the saddest a video game has ever made me.  I hate/love it all...

It is possibly a glitch, but there are two versions of what he is supposed to say post game. One involves him sticking around (I managed this in my friendship run) and the other he talks about going. I asked him to stay with me (emotional blackmail FTW  ) when he brought the subject up after the Temple of Mythal, but I still got his leaving speech instead of the other one. Apparently if you don't talk to him at the party you'll get the 'I'm staying' speech. He told me he was staying at the party so I'm guessing it's a glitch that he's suddenly leaving post-game.

He doesn't want you going with him because he believes you'll do all to the work he wants to do for him. It's something he wants to achieve himself.

Oh! I talked to him at the party. he told me he was going to leave "eventually." but he was still around in the post game world. I remember him saying that he wanted to do it himself when I volunteered to help. I was sad to see him go, but I get it! I have since gone back on my save to be a completionist for my canon Lav run, so maybe I'll try to not talk to him at the party this time...

I just realized that Solas' story arc is about the Dread Wolf trying to get his ball back. He then gets sad and runs off when it gets broken.

 

And leaves a bunch of heart-broken Lavellans in his wake, desperately putting up "Lost Dread Wolf... If found, please contact the Inquisitor at Skyhold for a Reward" signs with his sad little puppy face photo on trees and sides of buildings across Thedas.

Off topic a bit.

 

Flemeth/Mythal is all about vengeance after both parties were betrayed. Flemeth, one can assume, got her's against the man who wronged her but do we know who/what betrayed Mythal? It seems that she still is seeking retribution and part of me severely doubts that she'd give this primary goal up for any other reason. I mean, if she cares about bringing back the old gods, as we assume that is Solas's plan, Flemeth/Mythal seems to have shown bugger all interest herself in this for the presumably thousands of years she's been kicking about. Talking to her, revenge is still the major thorn in her side.

 

Do we think Solas knows this? Do we think that she'll actually help him with his plan or maybe use him to get the one thing that's kept her going though the ages? Perhaps she was betrayed by an old god and this is why she's helping him? I'm just wondering other people's opinions on how they think things currently stand.

So when the devs were tweeting about their playthroughs, Weekes was doing a mage!Lavellan and tweeted that he 'kissed my sweetie in a desert oasis' and later confirmed his sweetie to be Solas.  Does anyone know if you can actually do that?

 

Also, the dialouge that Solas apparently has where he begs you not to drink from the Well...does this exist in the game and just isn't implimented or did Weekes just forget to write it?

Ha, I hadn't seen this. But yes, Once was definitely  in my head for the Solas romance. As was the wonderful Sarah McLachlan's piano version of Possession here

Due South? That episode still makes me want to tear up just thinking about it. It also happens to be the first place I heard Sarah McLachlan, I believe. Been in love with her ever since. XD

My general stance is, that if Zevran could temporarily leave my Warden to go on a Crow hunt and still return to be by her side as she searches for a Calling cure; then Dorian can go change the history of Tevinter and still keep with my Inquisitor. Hopefully being able to return to each other's side one day.

 

Because damn it, Bioware. I may not be a happy ending person but I am determined to have one successful couple in Thedas!

 

 

I can't quite believe how badly I've failed with DAI. 

In Origins I was obsessed with Alistair and Zev so my many many playthroughs involved romancing one or the other. In DA2 it was Anders and Fenris. Then the LI's for DAI were announced and I was all

"Eight!? Eight!? That's like double what 1 and 2 had! Think of all the replay value for experiences all the love these beautiful characters have to offer!'

 

Oh, but no. What's happened here? Yeah. Obsessed with the Male Human and the Male Elf, again. Can't seem to stop my Dorian and Solas loving. I'm trying to romance Cullen but it's all too, nice. Where's my sexy moustached man with the glorious thighs? Where's my beautiful bald elf who hates tea as much as I (such blasphemy as a Brit. My best mate disowns me for my tea hating, so I tweeted her an image of Solas's tea hating when I first got to that bit. I was filled with such love. So much love. ILY Solas.)

 

Now I'm thinking my Nightmare run will not be a IB romancing dwarf after all.

That's true, hahahaha and I can understand you on most of my DAO playthroughs. I romanced Morrigan and on all my DA2 ones I romanced Merril, let's see if I can change the course with my next DAI playthrough.

I think he said he "kissed his sweetie" after the desert oasis thing, back at Skyhold.

 

As for the Well dialogue, I think it just didn't get recorded/added in.

I could see him doing what he can to keep his mind from lingering back to her.

 

Speaking of which, I didn't get the conversation where he made Cole forget him (I just stopped playing after the point where he left--too painful).  I wonder why he didn't do the same to Lavellan?
