I just had a conversation with Solas where he said he didn't identify himself as elf, yet he earlier referred to elves as "our people" in a conversation with Sera. So, is he becoming less elven?
I'm assuming you're referring to the post-Halamshiral conversation where he gets snippy about Briala and the elves. I don't think he's becoming less elven; this is another one of his contradictory opinions.
He definitely seems to identify with Abelas, Arlathan, and the ancient People way more than the modern elves; he very quickly calls Abelas "lethallin" while it takes a decent amount of friendship for him to get to that point with Lavellan. If you're not playing an elf, you can argue with Solas about how hopeless he considers the case of the modern elves. Yet while he identifies more strongly with ancient elves, he does make attempts to reach out to the modern elves like Sera and the Dalish. It's like he WANTS the modern elves to be his people, but can't bring himself to think of them that way.
Until Lavellan, then the whole thing goes topsy turvy again. Nothing with this stupid pajama elf is simple.
