I just had a conversation with Solas where he said he didn't identify himself as elf, yet he earlier referred to elves as "our people" in a conversation with Sera. So, is he becoming less elven?

I'm assuming you're referring to the post-Halamshiral conversation where he gets snippy about Briala and the elves.  I don't think he's becoming less elven; this is another one of his contradictory opinions.

He definitely seems to identify with Abelas, Arlathan, and the ancient People way more than the modern elves; he very quickly calls Abelas "lethallin" while it takes a decent amount of friendship for him to get to that point with Lavellan.  If you're not playing an elf, you can argue with Solas about how hopeless he considers the case of the modern elves.  Yet while he identifies more strongly with ancient elves, he does make attempts to reach out to the modern elves like Sera and the Dalish.  It's like he WANTS the modern elves to be his people, but can't bring himself to think of them that way.

Until Lavellan, then the whole thing goes topsy turvy again.  Nothing with this stupid pajama elf is simple.

I think he said he "kissed his sweetie" after the desert oasis thing, back at Skyhold.

As for the Well dialogue, I think it just didn't get recorded/added in.

Dammit, I was looking foward to find new places to have Fadekisses with Solas.

My Lavellan got so pissed when she met Flemeth (though she didn't drink from the Well), she went on a tirade demanding that Mythal help the elves and Flemeth was like "you don't know what you're asking!" and she was all "well, why don't you explain it to me!". She didn't really regret not drinking from the well after that, but she came to the conclusion that the gods and even the past aren't really worth bothering with anymore as a source of answers.

It was a pretty heartbreaking moment. Abelas was one disappointment, but Flemythal... So sad. Then Solas broke up with her. It was pretty much a trauma congo line from start to finish and she walked away going "wow, and they say my people are dicks".

Just thinking out loud here...

What about, (IF WE EVER GET SOME CLOSURE -.- )

Maybe drinking the Well could affect the way the relationship resolves, after you deal with the threat posed by Solas plan.

If you drank then you eventually figure Solas is FenHarel, you can forgive him and he is happy to have someone who trully understands him moving forwards.

If you didnt drink then Solas confirms he is an ancient elf who woke up ( that much you can pretty much figure out on your own once youre done crying on the break up). Then he can move on from being a god and and just be... Solas.

After you pick up the first shard from using the skull things you get a new War Table mission to investigate the desert oasis.  That gives you the Forbidden Oasis and the Solassian Temple.

Nope! I'm pretty sure he was exploring the... Forbidden Oasis? Is that what it's called? The place for all of the shards.

And then he must have gone back to Skyhold and kissed Solas or something. :U

 ninja'd...

Umm. So my post isn't completely redundant, here's a picture I'm commissioning from this artist:

I like this better than the idea of the Well being used against Lavellan, especially if they're in a relationship.  I have a very, very hard time seeing Solas using the power of the Well to compel Lavellan if he does in fact have Mythal's power, no matter how desperate he is to achieve his aims.  Although that might be what stops him in his tracks--he could fulfill his purpose by forcing the Inquisitor to aid him, but he just can't bring himself to do it.

I could see him doing what he can to keep his mind from lingering back to her.

Speaking of which, I didn't get the conversation where he made Cole forget him (I just stopped playing after the point where he left--too painful).  I wonder why he didn't do the same to Lavellan?

Oh I didn't mean that he would be thinking about her but that she seeks him out in the Fade like she did during the first romance scene in the fade!

This would definitely be my angry Lavellan song :

That's a good one. Especially the line: "You are ridiculous with your imaginary friends". It made me think of his preference and preoccupation with spirits.

Anyone have opinions/insight on why he does this?

Conflicting feelings, probably. They are his people, and they aren't his people.

Hey guys, I just wanted to know if the patch was still messed up.  I know I could go and ask in another thread, but the outside scares me and you are my safe loverly friends.  I've been running the game offline since the beginning and I just wanted to know if I should update.

Thank you, guys.

Probably cos he loves her too much and can't stand the thought of her forgetting him.

At the party at the end, you can tell Cole you wished you could forget some things, and he's like, "alright....just kidding! You like jokes, right?"

Bad time to learn jokes, Cole...

Thank you, guys.

Patch + hotfix seems to be working just fine on my PC.

Probably cos he loves her too much and can't stand the thought of her forgetting him.

I never got the impression that Solas could make Lavellan forget anything.  He can block things from Cole and compel him to forget because of Cole's unique circumstances, especially if he's spirit-Cole.  I think that's more of a spirit thing; he probably can't just wipe Lavellan's memories.

Even if he could help her forget, I agree that he loves her too much to do that.  He can't even bring himself to say he doesn't care if you pick the angrier version of the breakup scene, even though it would have been kinder to let Lavellan believe he never loved her.

I love Solas, but he can be a selfish little s*** sometimes.

I agree.  I felt like they simply reused the map and it did not mean the ending took place in the eluvian world.  Especially since Morrigan has scoured that place in her downtime and she was still surprised to see the statues of Fen'harel and Mythal together.

And that place looks amazing!  I would die if we couldn't drag Mr. Elvhen Glory to another fantastic Elvhen ruin in a DLC.

I'm honestly not sure if I want a resolution DLC, because if they do tie up the Solas story with the quizzy in a neat bow that means we are saying goodbye to our quizzy for good.  I am much more attached to this Char than I have been in previous games and I really would love to see how her story expands in subsequent games.  The other two games ended with the narrator saying that the PC fell off the face of Thedas and disappeared, but our quizzy is still kicking butt and taking down the names to use as blackmail.  I mean that is far too much power to just fade away.

I'm guessing it's because Cole is still a spirit, so he is able to do so. Also, I hate to say it, but I still think it's part of his selfishness--he still wants Lavellan to remember him (and possibly on a realistic note, it might be very important that she does remember him).

So when the devs were tweeting about their playthroughs, Weekes was doing a mage!Lavellan and tweeted that he 'kissed my sweetie in a desert oasis' and later confirmed his sweetie to be Solas.  Does anyone know if you can actually do that?

Also, the dialouge that Solas apparently has where he begs you not to drink from the Well...does this exist in the game and just isn't implimented or did Weekes just forget to write it?

I like that Weekes romanced the character that he wrote. No one can resist Solas.

Just thinking out loud here...

I hope that Lavellan learns his true nature either way. I always feel odd when I have more knowledge than my PC does about really relevant things. I'd just be sitting there like "Lavellan you doofus why can't you see the signs?" and it would be very frustrating...

Probably cos he loves her too much and can't stand the thought of her forgetting him.

Lavellan's spirit-son tries so hard to make her proud! I never expected to like his character so much.

It's ambiguous, but I'm not sure how people can conclude he doesn't care about elves when he will only romance a female elf. That's... a pretty big clue, isn't it? Also in the Assquisitor video, he talks about not having spent much time with humans.

I think his point is more nuanced, it's that you have to look past people's appearances to their character and spirits. It's classic Solas, really. He knows there is good and evil among the elves and that you have to discern the true face, not just the pointy ears.
