(to zambixi) I had a moment in which I went "D'aww" with Cole in the Emerald Graves -the female Inquisitor has a bit of a habit of shouting "Goodbye!" really agressively after combat. During my trip through the Emerald Graves, I heard Cole shout "Goodbye!" after combat twice but in a much quieter tone. It was absolutely adorable.

Nope! I'm pretty sure he was exploring the... Forbidden Oasis? Is that what it's called? The place for all of the shards.
And then he must have gone back to Skyhold and kissed Solas or something. :U

I hadn't thought of it but maybe he's mimicking her, practicing being real.
Cole just... I can't sometimes. His line about Rhys, "let him forget"... it breaks me. Do they give Oscars for VA work? They should.
As for Solas... Isn't it cool that when she opens the rift at Adamant, the Inquisitor single-handedly (pun intended) not only saves his life, but gives him his ultimate dream of walking the Fade physically? *buffs nails* All in a day's work, Dread Wolf.

Weekes, you magnificent. Goddamn. Bastard. It is terrible. It is crushing. It is perfect. Not just in context of Solas x Inquisitor, but -potentially- in broader historical context as well.
Keeping it simple, the most direct connections are the most obvious:
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
Lavellan ties Solas to this world. Not the fade, not the ancient past. Her very existence opens an alternate path to his (apparent) original plan to return the world to its state before the veil and the fall of Arlathan. It changes everything....

I don't think Weekes was romancing Solas in that playthru. You can't randomly kiss Solas.
Unless you can and its a bug. Omg. What if it is a bug? (I doubt it)
Someone should ask Weekes why we can't randomly kiss Solas.

It's ambiguous, but I'm not sure how people can conclude he doesn't care about elves when he will only romance a female elf. That's... a pretty big clue, isn't it? Also in the Assquisitor video, he talks about not having spent much time with humans.
I think his point is more nuanced, it's that you have to look past people's appearances to their character and spirits. It's classic Solas, really. He knows there is good and evil among the elves and that you have to discern the true face, not just the pointy ears.
I think Solas does care deeply about the elves, but even he has trouble looking past appearances. He describes the plight of the city elves and Tevinter slaves as similar to any of the oppressed or downtrodden. He considers Sera "apart from herself," a shadow of what she should have been if things had gone as he planned. He sees the Dalish as misguided, arrogant children.
I don't think Solas lacks empathy, just perspective. He sees the elves of the Dragon Age through his ancient perspective rather than how they might see themselves. He wants to understand, but has trouble looking at the world through someone else's eyes. In banters with characters like Varric, where he admits that the other character might have a point, it usually takes him a while to come around. He doesn't stop trying, though, and I think that's what makes him an admirable character even if he makes mistakes.

Oh, I meant that he must have triggered the balcony conversation or the post-What Pride Had Wrought conversation or something, not that Solas was being randomly kissed.
Uh, and I don't know any of this for sure, I'm just guessing! I don't want anyone thinking I know things when I don't...! @_@

Sort of Solas related.
I really enjoyed this interview with Alix. She talks about her love of the Weekes, and mentions the Vallaslin scene (around 38 mins in). I just love her enthusiasm for BioWare, and DAI.

He wants, desperately, to believe- and over the course of their relationship Lavellan becomes his proof. For him, her beauty is not just literal: she is possessed of a unique and beautiful spirit, a curiosity and openness that defines his true People. Again in Cole's terms - she is real, and so everyone could be real. Real Elvhen, as Solas believes they could and should be. I love his personal quest, where Mama Lavellan decides if Cole is gonna grow up to be a real boy or a spirit. I think someone on Tumblr called Solas the father and Varric the Dwarf Uncle in that quest xD
Unrelated note:
Does anyone remember if Solas' card remains the hierophant post-game? I deleted that save by mistake and haven't finished again with Lavellan. If it does, can someone grab a screen of it?

Pretty direct Solavellan reference.
Hmm... if anything, I think the romance is more inspired by the tales of Hallelujah rather than the other way around (Solavellan reference as you put it). Hallelujah, written by Leonard Cohen (first as a poem and then as a song), is an old classic that has been sung and covered by countless artists and singers. The story told in the song is the biblical tale of King David who fell in love with Bathsheba who was married at the time. Consumed with love for her, David planned the death of Bathsheba's husband and claimed her for himself. This angered the lord. Thoug Bathsheba was fated to be with him, David's act of rebel belied his lack of patience and willingness to defy the will of god. The tale then went on to tell how David was brought down, and in his penance wrote the Hallelujah to redeem himself in the eye of God.
So yeah, the connection (faith, rebellion, God, belief, forbidden love, etc...) are tied tightly between the lyrics and story of Hallelujah and Sollavelan romance in the way that Hallelujah inspired it as it has inspired countless other tales before.

I could see them having a DLC where Solas's actions are determined by how you 'win' him over. But for a romanced Lavellan, you'd get his favor regardless.

So I've done the ending. Again. I thought maybe I would feel a little bit "yay we beat the big baddie" this time as it's not new to me, but no. This romance completely ruins what should have been a moment of glory and triumph. All I want to to in the end is scream. Loudly. I'm actually angry at my self for not saving this romance for a last playthrough.
Mr. Weekes, I tip my (non-existing) hat to you, you made this old, cold and cynical lady feel something. Well played.

I'm rather glad I went into Inquisition as unspoiled as possible and romanced Solas as the first because it made it all the more glorious when the reveal came. Seriously, I thought his hesitation was because Lavellan was the First to her clan and a Dalish and so he thought that would be too much or he had gotten too used to being on his own and so believed he'd continue alone after the Breach matter had been settled.
It made it all the more harder to have the romance end in the heartwrenching way it did because the game gave my imagination time to wonder how the romance would turn out.

I agree,I wish my Lavellan had the options to at least pat Solas on the shoulder after the final battle,I'm sure she was more than pleased that both made it out alive.(Although glomping is certainly what she'd like to do)And that scene on the balcony is heartbreaking, even though I like the look on Lavellans face.In my headcanon she is determined to find him.So I've done the ending.
