I really hope they don't go with the new maps/sandbox idea for dlc. We have enough land to explore. Need more core story.

Hopefully they listen to the fans about that. I've seen nothing but "Please we have enough maps more story".

So I messaged that guy on tumblr that did that impression of Solas I posted some pages back.

I asked him to do another impression.

He said he would work on it right away.

Spoiler

You're amazing! He's amazing!
If all goes wrong, maybe we could all seriously pitch in, get some modders, hire this guy, and make our own happy ending.. But that should be plan Z

It's funny how they take fan criticism to extremes. DA2 = not enough development on space. DA3 = so many (and overwhelming amount of) lovely areas, need more story

I don't think Arlathan is the Golden/Black City, because the City and the source of the Blight appears to predate recorded history.  Maybe the Chantry is partially right that it's something connected to the origins of Thedas.  But I don't think it's necessarily the seat of the Maker.

I wonder about what Cole says about Red Lyrium, which is just blighted lyrium.  It's angry...very very angry...

I suddenly really want to know what the blight really is. Cole said that Solas misses a time when everything sung the same. The broodmother in awakening was driven mad because of the lack of Archdemon song. I wonder if the song that connects everyone was part of Elven society, but became corrupted overtime and just led to a way to mind control slaves.

Theory link.

In a nutshell:

Blue lyrium = Original song of creation (song of the Maker), potentially literal blood of the pre-elven-pantheon titan earth.

Red lyrium = Corrupted song (song of Rebellion) blighted blood of the titan earth.

I have to wonder if the elven gods controlled their slaves through song like what the archdemons do.

I'm posting this song again because I cannot stop listening to it:

Spoiler

Well your Faith was strong but you needed proof

You saw her bathing on the roof.

Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew ya...

Well she tied you to the kitchen chair,

She broke your throne and she cut your hair,

And from your lips she drew "hallelujah!"

Hallelujah... Hallelujah... Halleluuuuujah...

My friend actually just made a neat gif set about this here. I'll put it under a cut here for convenience along with the great tags she wrote. (be wary of spoilers in the gifs of course)

Spoiler

Wow, I haven't seen some of these. Where do you get him yelling at the person about having the ears but not the soul? Or the one about planting the tree?

We're an optimistic bunch of people, I think.  Most of us are ABSOLUTELY certain in our heart-of-hearts that it just isn't over.

I admit, I'm inclined to agree, since we got the "confirmed romance" thing so late in the game, and then Solas just walks away.  Surely there's more planned.  I doubt it'll have a huge amount of content when/if it is added, for the romance specifically.  But I am sure we'll be dealing with Solas in some way, shape, or form, whether DLC, expansion, or even the next Dragon Age.

I hope it's before the next Dragon Age, though, because I'm pretty sure we'll be picking up a brand shiny new character then.

Well it's definitely not over. I mean I could see a place where the "romance" is over in that the break up will have been final, but since Solas is almost definitely going to re-appear there's at least going to be a line of hand-wave dialogue. That's the worst-case scenario. Something like, "I told you before, this was only going to end in tragedy. It will never be." I do feel like that'd be really cheap though...

I really hope they don't go with the new maps/sandbox idea for dlc. We have enough land to explore. Need more core story.

I wouldn't mind new areas but I want every single mission in that new area to be plot-relevant. No more fetch quests, no more unlock this door. Every single mission should tie into the story, whatever it happens to be.

Also I feel like Solas isn't anywhere we've been before so I want to go find him >.>

I want you to know I'm liking this just for the gif. Cause Watson. <3

I want you to know I liked your comment because I had the same thought as you did. This thread is greatly expanding my gif folder.

Maaaaaan, that epilogue about the Inquisition standing ready...kind of gives me hope of the Inquisitor continuing. But talking about the Inquisitor being a target and the peeps in the shadows, then showing Solas and Flemeth in the stinger is almost worrying.

The lyrium is just a solid, physical manifestation of the Song.  It's not necessary to sustain blight (the archdemons are already blighted), but it is a... contagion vector, I suppose you'd call it.

I think the biggest reason I haven't been able to finish off a romance with anyone else is because of that damned Thedas Love Song.  It has such a strong connection, for me, to that final scene with Solas.  The second that humming (or whatever it is, violins maybe?) kicks in my fight or flight response goes haywire.  I can't even watch clips on youtube.  So pathetic, lol.  I get a knot in the pit of my stomach and my heart starts racing, basically anxiety.  I tell you what, this game has made me feel like such a silly little girl, and here I am turning 34 in a couple of weeks!

Garrus is the cool bf you can have. Solas is the cool bf you can't have.

Can't have yet. Hopefully.  :crying:

Because Solas is basically on par with Garrus in the Bioware True Love department (adjusting for factors like Garrus having a lot more screentime). I've never been as attached to a love interest in a Bioware game as I am to those two. If Hawke and Fenris's romance ended on a tragic note then I would be pretty sad, but I'd be alright. If Solas and Lavellan's did it would hurt so goddamn much. Which sucks because everything's so up in the air. I really didn't want to get this attached to a Dragon Age character (because new protag each game), but it happened anyways.  :pinched:

No lie. I will be sitting next to my hubby holding my chest because it literally aches with the feels. I think he's actually jealous. I start listening to these songs and thinking of all the scenes... and I'm just too damned empathetic. It hurts to see both of them hurting. I mean, I get tied up in the characters of the books I read as well, so it's not too surprising. But damn, this is potent.

What a time to be out of likes, Solas thread you are too good.

All this talk of the "song" makes me think of how the the chantry believes that when the chant of light is spoken/sung in all four corners of the world, the maker will come back for his children.

major crack pot theory time:

The chant actually works like some sort of spell, a warding spell in tandem with the lyrium veins in the earth. Like the wards used to hold Corypheus in Legacy, these wards also require blood to be spilled to unlock them - Old God blood - Archdemon blood. When Archedemon blood is spilled, it corrupts the lyrium veins in the earth, turning it red. When all the old gods (Archedemons) are slain, the wards unlock and the maker returns only he ISN'T a benevolent maker but rather the Nightmare from the fade that was locked away by the Old Gods annnnnd now I'm writing fanfiction I'm so sorry.

I wonder about what Cole says about Red Lyrium, which is just blighted lyrium.  It's angry...very very angry...

Well there's other facts too:

1) If you did Varric's personal story quest with Bianca, she insists that she discovered the red lyrium has the Blight

2) Because of above, she also says lyrium must be alive (since Blight doesn't infect objects)

3) We know lyrium is related to magic, a key to entering the Fade and enchanting items, and also gives Templars their abilities

4) Dwarves are the only ones who can handle/process Lyrium, and just so happen to be the only race that can't dream or use magic

I posit that lyrium is a kind of spirit, a mineral manifestation of magic from the Fade. I also think the Fade is magic, stripped from Thedas and set apart. The creation of the Veil coincides too much with the loss of magic among the elves, their immortality, etc. So then the Blight is some kind of corruption of this magic. For all we know, maybe it was created along with the Veil, as an unintended consequence of separating the physical from the spiritual. And so, perhaps the Golden City was Golden when the Veil was first created, but the Blight infected it, turning it Black (only issue here is it's not Red, but maybe that'd be too obvious?)

Cory says the city was empty when they got there. I think this also points to the Blight being way older than anything else. True he could be lying, but *shrug*

Random thought: What if the Veil is an Elluvian, and it's the one the gods are trapped behind? *drinks the crazysauce*

Eh well that's my late night ramblings.
